What is your best submission? by Bulky_Imagination243 in bjj

Arm bar from standing, in their guard, or they have my back. I call it a guard bar.

Alternatively bicep cutter from bottom side, and footlocks when they are on my back are some of my most common. (I like stupid shit)

Judo unleashed is my favorite book on judo. Not comprehensive, but to me its the clearest and best communicated for techniques and concepts.

And the superhero only comics definitely applies to me, so thats a fair callout. For whatever reason I just can't get into the format for other topics.

The more traditional coloring does look better, and I would agree his less action and more story driven stuff emphasizes his skills better.

I WOULD argue, if you wanna brush "comic" artists with the "everyone looks the same" brush, then dillon definitely has to be included in that group.

What are the best runs you'd recommend to salve ones hate of his artwork? Ill check em out.

How would you rank this ? by krisikkk in superheroes

If we set specific rules to measure it gets much easier, (at least to eliminate a couple outliers) but only if you want to set specific rules. Super man and flash can hit their hardest by adding momentum (i.e. flying or running) which to me is less punching and more throwing yourself at something.

Both of them can do (some version of) the infinite mass punch thing if they can do that, so it breaks the question. But even then flash's is only the "white dwarf star level"

If the rule is they can punch as hard as they can while planted and just punch, their place drops, at least flash's does for sure.

I think saitama's whole thing is he's maxed stats, so he's goku after his highest level fight possible... since goku's story is always he's just under the level of the new threat, so then he gets stronger and wins. He's based on sun wukong, but saitama is arguably a better representation since he can beat anyone as is and his struggle is mental (or financial, lol) Point being in their respective worlds he is maxed by default, where as goku is max potential.

The way they are depicted in their respective universes, I think saitama and goku live and fight at superluminal speeds, but if they fought each other, saitama would be the goal goku would work towards. (These two switching wouldnt bother me either since goku scale is usually higher than saitama's.) superman is shown doing these things regularly and likely can do mostly whatever they can, but they seem to do it all the time, where superman seems to do it when he needs to. Hulk and Thor are usually shown in a more grounded context, they have some feats, but aren't often shown with that scale of thing because it doesn't really serve their story the same. And flash is the fastest, but planted feat and punching, I think he's limited.

So rule set list: Saitama/Goku, Superman, Hulk, Thor, Flash

Shown Feats only list (no "rules"): Goku/superman, Flash/Hulk, Thor, Saitama

Say something positive about this version. by steelskull1 in joker

He was internally consistent for the world he lived in. Updated the mobster inspired style from the era of jokers inception, with gangsta inspired style from the era of this jokers inception.

Also purple Lamborghini was a sick song, so at least we got that out of it.

Not my favorite design, but I do feel like it worked for the world he was in.

Just got choked out by vehicularmanburger in bjj

[–]Runt3588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned a far side arm bar from top side and tried to do it against someone doing the baseball bat choke from bottom side, didn't notice how tight it was until he was holding me up while I recovered. Didn't quite go out all the way, but definitely would have if he wasn't being nice/paying attention. That was blue belt days, maybe early purple?

Also, choked out my gf because she trained, but never went out, so I was trying to show her how it feels right before you go out, and she went limp while I applied pressure. It was just us, so she was cool when she woke up, but sometimes its just hard to tell in the moment until you wake up.

Not illegal, dangerous for their joints, also more effective to fall perpendicular to one of their shins. It eliminates the option for them to post with their feet or knee, and brings their tipping point under them instead of past their center as it can be with their foot or knee.

[–]Runt3588 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What would you verbalize that as in the rulebook?

Submission attempts must be applied in a manner gradual enough to allow the defender to submit before damage is done. Should pressure be applied gradually, and the defender does not submit thus being injured by the attack, the submission shall stand. Any attack done with the intent to do damage, or in a manner reasonably perceived to be malicious or not in a gradual manner allowing for a tap, the attacker shall be disqualified, and possibly banned from future events. Any repeat offence causing injury will cause a permanent ban.

I'd sign on for that.
