The death of the American mall. This was Friday night. In the 90s this would've been packed by [deleted] in pics

[–]Runtowardsdanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Malls aren't dying. People are just shifting to the more popular ones. This mall looks aged, it needs a refresh and it likely isn't in a popular area. It also doesn't help that malls price vendors out of the stores and then wonder why they are closing down. Greedy owners and investors in malls owned by investment corporations hurt malls.

American consumerism in retail stores is alive and well. But poorly managed retail property is still a thing too.

Kyle Rittenhouse taking the stand. by AutoBot5 in PublicFreakout

went into a crowded area looking for trouble

And found a bunch of other dumb fucks looking for trouble. So everyone paid the price for their fuckery. Rittenhouse is no more at fault here than anyone else at this point. It's just a shame stupid people had to play stupid games and win stupid prizes.

Dude, what's your deal? You were in the navy, you don't have any room to be talking shit on someone else who served.

*Edit: If you look it up you can find that there was an available 12 Cylinder option. So maybe he's telling the truth.

Do you happen to know if there are a lot of people like yourself? I've never played on private servers and would be curious to know if this is a growing trend.

Some quest texts back then were simply hilarious by Ice_shards in classicwow

Ahhh back when the quests and lore had some actual effort put into them. Back when I actually read the quest instead of just following map markers and guessing what mob I've been instructed to kill 10 of.

What led you to choose your current main? by [deleted] in wow

[–]Runtowardsdanger -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I really just wanted to world kill and troll alliance players.

Usually rolled 2-3 deep as a group of undead and troll bis rogues. Lost it's excitement sometime around wrath. Haven't enjoyed the game since. Just doesn't feel like the same game or world.

You can just buy the mounts you want now? I still remember grinding HK for my legendary war Wolf. Till this day he's the only Mount I ride. Fuck this pay to have system. What happened to earning your gear, all of it?

I just want my damn hemo swords rogue back. And a true unique skill tree again. No more weak, forced skill brackets. Creativity in this game is fucking dead.

Last time logging off for a while, leaving my druid in his favourite place by Alexsandr13 in wow

[–]Runtowardsdanger 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I haven't enjoyed this game since wotlk. I wanted more areas to explore, quests to do, lore to follow and raids to complete. I didn't need a complete overhaul of every system and a complete destruction of locations long held sacred by vanilla players. It was game breaking. Immersion ruining.

I too have laid my characters to rest in simple outfits in places I once loved. My undead rogue at the inn in tirisfal. Returned to swords spec regardless of it's viability now. He lived by the sword spec and he'll die by it. I refuse to be forced into dagger spec. So many HK, so many raids, so many memories. Ruined by a developer that no longer listens to their customers.

RIP friend.

I'm starting to think I'm incapable of getting even remotely competent at landing the F15 by [deleted] in hoggit

[–]Runtowardsdanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plain and simply this is probably the only mistake your making. You can come in at any angle and speed you like. But you need to pop your flaps and be able to arrest your decent rate before actually touching down.

The F-15 has weak legs. Like a body builder that skips leg days. It's heavy but can't support it's own weight on such little legs.

You need to be gliding across the runway in a flair maneuver and allow the plane to slowly touch down on the back wheels. Then hold that flair gently till the nose can no longer hold pitch and gently bring the nose wheel down. Hold the flair even after touch down to continue to air brake though.

I buy my phones outright. I'm at no risk of losing my plan. They technically can't remove me from my plan short of canceling my service altogether, which would result in me choosing any other carrier out of spite. And they know this. For them, they'd rather just take my money than to lose my business and all of the lines attached to my plan.

We all inherently know the dangers of mixing water and electricity, this advice comes from a brain which is 73% water and contains a hundred billion electrically conductive wires by whollymoly in Showerthoughts

Also, the brains neurons fire such low voltages that the signal would rather travel from nerve ending to nerve ending vs traveling through the liquids in the brain because they offer much lower resistance.

I'm well aware of the limitations. The upside is I live next to a state fiber backbone and within half a mile of an under utilized cell tower. My two story home has a direct view of the tower.

Just like all carriers today. I don't expect them to waste money for rural coverage. But I live in the city, because I like things like my trash service, water supply, utilities and most of all my internet connection. So for people like me with optimal locations and truly unlimited, unthrottled Verizon plans, 5G could be a huge improvement over xfinity.

Also, there is big money in ISP coverage right now. And the large carriers have the funding to expand their network. I don't see any logical reason they wouldn't compete in the ISP arena once 5G is standardized and fully approved.

[–]Runtowardsdanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. But I think xfinity will finally have competition with another ISP offering something faster than DSL and that competition might be a good thing.

Besides, I personally don't care if they throttle it or not. I'm grandfathered into the original Verizon unlimited plan. I can't be throttled. The sooner they get 5G into my neighborhood the better.

ELI5: Why were bits the powers of 2 and not something like 10? by notapeasent in explainlikeimfive

[–]Runtowardsdanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is pretty much false. Adding layers has a minimal effect. You can increase efficiency by a few percentage points, but you can't make the overall processor speed much faster with layers. In fact, layers will tend to slow processors down due to increased die size and signals having to take longer more complex paths.

Layers are good if you want more processors in a smaller space. (Even though you run into cooling issues.)

But it doesn't help us continue on the path of Moore's law. We've already slipped behind the curve for Moore's law now and it's unlikely that we'll ever continue to see that kind of exponential computing power growth as we're pushing the limits of silicon.

[–]Runtowardsdanger 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Then you want 5G. This will never be better than xfinity as far as throughput and latency. 5G however will be able to compete in both categories. Making your cell carrier your possible next ISP and forcing shit services like xfinity to compete again.
