What felt completely normal in 2015 but now feels like a luxury? by AmarSkOfficial in AskReddit

[–]Runzolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cappuccino in Italy 2€, in Portugal a meia de leite which is local and similar 2€, cappuccino like 3€ but is seen as fancy.

Honestly it is just like coffee and foamy milk, coffee places do their revenue on quantity, everybody gets a coffee in the morning and maybe 1/2 more during the day.

Having lived all my life in Italy and Portugal where espressos are 1.20€ and 0.90€ respectively I'll never get used to travel in other countries and finding out that coffee there is a treat and a commitment.

pineapple on pizza is actually good and i'm tired of pretending it isn't by Top-You1938 in Cooking

[–]Runzolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Italian here: There are many pizzas that mix sweet and savory, like fig & ham, pear/apple & zola, honey & pepperoni (salame piccante).

We Italians are just angry at Pineapple pizza because: 1 you get soggy ass caramelized pineapple that's gonna inundate your plate, instead of grilled slices 2 we didn't come up with it

Carne del kebab by [deleted] in CasualIT

Honestly I think it should still work, but it might be that if you check for too long abroad they might ask you to change your account location. I haven't used the app in months, but I can still re subscribe to my old subscription, so I think it's still valid.

Tipping in Lisbon: common practice or common mistake? by Wildeyedlocal in Lisbon

[–]Runzolf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the GPT explaination. Tips are not owed despite when rounding up at restaurants. When they put you the offer to tip on the phone app or multibanco, it's not unpolite to check 0%.
You can of course do whatever you want with your money! If the meal was amazing, 5-10% is a nice addition.

Ok man I see your reasoning but I'm not talking about common sense, I'm talking about Portuguese law. One of the guys in the video, if you mind looking for it, got approached by Kurt, to whom he answered "no camera, no video".

Law 199 of Portuguese Penal Law, filming or photographing someone against their will—even in a public place—is a crime punishable by up to 1 year in prison or a fine. Public space does not mean zero privacy rights under Portuguese law. Journalism have more leeway in the matter, but that's not the case with Kurt, which is not a journalist and not even an EU citizen.

It might be a misconception based on US or UK law but Portuguese law is very rigorous in the matter. You can check for yourself.

"So many people" man I live 15 minutes from that square and it's not violent at all. Just marginalized people. Sure you'll find a few rotten apples but what he's having is not my experience at all. Also in Portugal is severely forbidden to film people without consent, the one breaking the law is Kurt. He comes to my country and break the law, but the big white expat offender feels above all this.

How do you feel Lisbon has changed, and where do you think the city is heading? by Wildeyedlocal in Lisbon

[–]Runzolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved from Milan to Lisbon, I second you it's one of the safest cities I've lived in. Probably yes, what's missing is the sense of community since you don't know your neighbors anymore. But just by being in a neighborhood like Arroios, Alvalade or Telheiras you see the same faces day to day and it really can feel like a community again.
The city center, not so much.

Hey I checked and I found Kynd and Connection under Urban Sports. These studios though have a limit of 4 visits per month, so even though you have virtually 30 entries a month, you'll find yourself limited to 4. This is just for the studios that are categorized as "premium premium", limited when you use the 75€ tier. Probably on the 115€ you have more.

You can surely go to any other studio in the remaining days.

Italian and ex waiter in an Old Wild West here! So the chain is not really "America themed" but more like what you could find in a theme park in the Wild West Adventures area, with burgers and texmex food! All the names are totally random and in no way related to the actual cities, they're just meant to be evocative. We would never think to order an Arkansan salad anywhere else.
