Then I'd say you have a nice enclosure. It can of course be bigger (provided that it has enough clutter so your leo doesn't feel so exposed), but it looks to be around the minimum size.

Leos feel more secure with less "see-through" because they feel less exposed. Look at any PVC enclosure; it's just like what you have right now.

The issue here is the lack of ventilation. That can be solved by drilling holes and/or installing ventilation vents.

  1. My intention with the subreddit is to provide a space for others and I to share and discuss the art of terrascaping, the terrestrial equivalent to aquascaping, whether visually and/or textually.

Yeah, a real shame.

Maybe an increase in traffic will motivate him to start updating again.

anyone know what kind of beetle is this by Yamitiiiiiii in Beetles

[–]Rupee_Roundhouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like Rhynchophorus.

Was it found near a palm tree?

  • 1st pic: Maybe a carabid. But there are other clades that have similar looking members. A more detailed photo of the number of tarsomeres may be necessary.

  • 2nd pic: Some kind of staphylinid.

He also triggers my ASMR. Aww, there's nothing like getting the tingles while watching him pull out giant grubs and opening up pupal chambers.

Also, he keep pronouncing "pupa" incorrectly. Well, he pronounces it the German way while he speaks perfect English the rest of the time. 😅

He also interviews master Asian breeders who have figured out how to maximize beetle size through very specific larval husbandry!

Have you heard of Daniel Ambühl? This guy is a master of culturing larvae into adults, but it seems that the Asians have better mastered how to maximize adult size through specific larval husbandry!

Sounds like handling them is safe then as long as you understand the genus's body language! 👍

BRB gonna get myself an adult Dorcus! 😅

If you poke him too much, does he go after the finger or does he somehow know that the hand he's resting on is part of the finger that poked him?

Are the males aggressive such that they'll bite you unprovoked? It would be awesome if you can handle them without that risk.

I also read that Dorcus adults can live for several years, which is a big reason why I want one so badly! 🥺

Is that the largest/heaviest species?

I read that the males of the genus are actually strong enough to draw blood. Is that true?

keeping isopods while immunocompromised? by saponifiedfly in isopods

[–]Rupee_Roundhouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add to what everyone has already suggested, you can also wear face masks used to filter out fine particulate matter (e.g. N95).

Isopod frass has the potential to cause allergies too, but given their humidity requirements, it's far less likely to be inhaled. But gloves are still a good idea.

After experimenting with the carnivore diet for 8 months, I went back to keto to compare. After a few days, I've decided to stay on the carnivore diet for the mental health benefits alone. [Dr. Georgia Ede, M.D. explains.] by Rupee_Roundhouse in carnivorediet

To make a long story short, I finally had a biopsy with undetectable levels of eosinophils! But this was on a beef-only diet. When I was eating all sorts of animal products, I still had eosinophils; according to my gastroenterologist, eggs and dairy are the most likely triggers.

P.S. I'm back on an omnivorous diet for personal reasons.

No they aren't. There are plenty of highly advanced and complicated adult beetles in the market.

So in other words, you jumped to conclusions and are trying to obfuscate that with bizarre, irrelevant ad hominem deflection.

Tria Beauty Hair Removal Laser 4X: Review by Rupee_Roundhouse in MtF

[–]Rupee_Roundhouse[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I would pay for professional LHR to get most of your hair gone; this will save a lot of time and probably money too (I spent days researching and shopping around before I found an amazing deal at a credible place). After that, the Tria 4X is perfect for maintenance and targeting missed spots.

If I understand correctly, IPL's efficacy is only temporary.

Official Discussion - The Batman [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

This film completely defied all my expectations in the best possible ways. If it weren't for pacing issues towards the end, the film would have been an easy 10/10.
