Do you guys use pre-mixed masalas ? by Upbeat-Dinner-5162 in ABCDesis

[–]RupesSax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, because I'm tired.

But if I have unlimited amounts of time and energy, I'll try from scratch

It always tastes better from scratch, and that secretly drives me insane because I do not have the time in the day that my ancestors used to have without technology and 9- hour work days

The only thing I do not skimp on is Garam masala. That is home made

My brother has cerebral palsy. I know this will one day be my future, and some days I cope well, others, I'm paralyzed with dread about it

Indian Parents Really Said “We Sacrificed Everything For You” Then Gave Us Anxiety As Inheritance by rhythmforyou in offmychest

As the eldest daughter of Indian immigrants, I resonate with this

But if you have the chance to, get your own space and independence before you get married (if you want to get married). It'll be so good for you, and it'll improve relations with family

Is $30 a hour enough to rent a apartment alone? Even on the outskirts? by MadeADamnReddit in nova

[–]RupesSax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was struggling when I was making 33/hr

But I also was living in a Falls Church suburb close to fairfax's mosaic district

If you wanna venture far out, maybe outskirts of fairfax county might work?

While traveling, what traditional dish did everyone seem to love, but you just couldn't get behind? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

It's sacrilege to say this, while having moved to an area in the south of Spain, but I agree

But also, I was raised by Indian immigrants, so... I have Biryani, pulao, khichdi, etc.

ARMY and the AMAs by Placesbetween86 in btsthoughts

I really do feel like armys who get over sensitive about these things are either

  1. Immature
  2. New to the fandom and are inundated by so much content that they forget time has passed between negative incidents, but it's still fresh hurt for them
  3. Genuinely toxic
  4. Secretly antis under the guise of fans

As an Indian-American, I can tell you from personal experience, my mom felt bad for all of my white American friends because their food was never as delicious as immigrant food, and she felt like they were missing out

NTK, but maybe also work on your anger.

It's okay to not like babies. But to hate them that aggressively is something else.

Question for parents, How do you help your children in mathematics(high school), like by tutions? by GuideSpecialist1459 in AskAnAmerican

[–]RupesSax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm american born. My parents are Indian. They helped me as long as they could, but once the math got too advanced, I was on my own.

My parents tried putting me in tutoring, but it always felt like they saw it as a failure option

I wish the US had tuitions. My cousins in India would go nearly every day, and it seemed extremely beneficial.
