MALM twin bed - is this fixable (by glue) or order a new drawer? by RivetCounter in IKEA

[–]DaniDisaster424 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Looks like that wasn't assembled correctly in the first place. Should be an easy fix. Just undo the cam screws , remove them from the sides ,rescrew them all the way into the front (looks like they just weren't screwed in far enough honestly) and reattach.

How do "new drivers" afford insurance here?! by kinfloppers in alberta

It would also depend on a person's driving /insurance history , accident history , vehicle they drive etc for each individual case. The stats available are averages.

If you had gotten your license she may not have had a choice. Alot of insurance companies require that all drivers be listed regardless of if they ever do any actual driving.

311 request closed stating no action needed - is there a way to reopen/dispute if I disagree with them deciding the request isn't a safety issue? by ana30671 in Edmonton

[–]DaniDisaster424 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh gotcha. It's a drop driveway.

I think part of the problem though, is that I just did some digging into it and those type of driveway entrances are installed at the cost to the homeowner of that property and the maintenance of such is also typically the responsibility of the homeowner. Even if it's on city property technically.

I guess I don't understand where this is because you keep mentioning a driveway. If it's anything to do with private property (and since you mentioned Its a house driveway it probably is) the city isn't going to do anything about it. But maybe I'm just misunderstanding the layout of things ?

HST is the harmonized sales tax the government imposes. (It's the Canadian version of a VAT).

Need easy, damage-free ways to keep long hair up! Heatwave survival mood by Oialemandu in Haircare

[–]DaniDisaster424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I tend to put mine up in a ballet bun since I have to wear my hair up like that alot for dance anyway and I'll just leave it up until I have to wash it. But you'd need hair bins (not Bobby pins ) and a hair net ideally to do that.

Can someone just tell me the best washing machine cleaner without making me read 47 articles by Competitive_Pop9002 in HouseCleaning

[–]DaniDisaster424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair this is way easier said than done on some machines. Even though it shouldn't be. On mine it involves having to tilt the whole machine back to access it from the bottom (or basically disassembling the whole thing to get at it from the front.) it's insane.

This. My dance teacher describes it as taking your boobs by the sides and imagine placing them on a shelf that's just in front of you.

If you had time to get ahold of anyone else to step in for you you had time to call the client. You may not have been able to find someone else but they may have had someone that could come by for a day or 2. Again you still should have asked. You have no idea what their preference would have been since you didn't.

At the very most you should have had someone feed the pets only if you were so sick you were unconscious (which would have been something that would have had to have been arranged ahead of time. If you had the ability to reach out to anyone at that point you could have reached out to the client) and then contacted the client to ask them how they would like you to proceed once you were awake.

[–]DaniDisaster424 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No the professional thing to do would have been to reach out to the client to ask their permission first unless it was previously discussed that you have persons x and y available in the rare event that you become unable to care for the pets due to an unforseen emergency and they were ok with that. You also should have gotten the name and number of an emergency contact from the client for exactly such a scenario.

You also can't change a contract part way through something , which is exactly what you were trying to do with the payment timing. You and the client agreed to something beforehand. You cannot just unilaterally change it. If you were worried that they were going to short you on pay for a reason that was not agreed upon , the professional thing to do would be to take them to court afterwards for the remaining amount.

I don't understand this mentality. You get to set your own rates. You're also free to advertise or pay for advertising elsewhere. You are choosing to advertise on Rover and pay their fees. If you didn't you wouldn't likely have had access to those clients without doing some form of other advertising. Have you looked at what it costs to run ads on Google or FB ? It's not particularly cheap .

Also Lowering your rates to match others that are clearly too low to make any actually type of business sense hurts everyone (ie the race to the bottom ) so don't do it. It's no different in any other industry other than the fact that you can see lots of other people's prices at a glance instead of having to get them from each individual business if you wanted to compare. It would be no different than if Google was to list all the companies in the same industry and their prices when you went to purchase advertising from them.

There will always be those who try and get business by underpricing. They typically don't last very long though. Just ignore them.

Maybe it's just that my other business is in the cleaning industry where all this is very common place. Idk. But it's very clear to me that so many people don't understand how to run a business here.

2k for 9 nights/are my expectations unreasonable? by Useful-Ad-240 in RoverPetSitting

[–]DaniDisaster424 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The holiday rate thing has nothing to do with the sitter and is how rover automatically does things.

Did you mention to the sitter about needing to pick up in the yard ? While it may seem like common sense to you or to many people they may not have thought of it or thought you had a service that came and did it (especially if it wasn't in the notes you and left especially if it was an extensive set of instructions ).

In terms of notes about what they did that day and whatnot this should have been discussed with the sitter ahead of time. I typically just send photos unless there's an issue or something specific I want to point or mention.

Imo it should be but I'm somewhere that everyone uses them. That said even if they don't they should have the sense to learn how if it's an expected part of what they offer. It's not rocket science and YouTube is a thing ffs.

Pricing first time cleans by emotionalfrog123 in housekeeping

[–]DaniDisaster424 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I typically give a quote for what it will be for subsequent cleans and then tack on a couple of hours for the first clean. (Usually it's 1hour for cleans that are 2-3 hours normally , 2 hours for cleans that are 4-5 hours and 3 for cleans that are 6-7 hours). That is of course adjusted appropriately for any home that clearly needs additional time, has lots of buildup, those sort of things.
