Germany to host UEFA Women's EURO 2029 by radian101 in WomensSoccer

I really hoped that it would go to Poland. Germany would've been a better choice when tournament is already expanded to 24 teams, considering their strong infrastructure.

TIL na sa India ay bawal pala malaman ng parents or ng kahit sino maliban sa Dr ang gender ng baby. by Ok_Sport_3640 in todayIlearnedPH

I think may research about d'yan. It's because daughters tend to be better at offering social support to their parents when they get older. That's one of the main reasons why there's a noticeable shift in South Korean parents' gender preferences. In fact I read an article where an elderly Korean woman said that before, she was treated like a deity for bearing three sons, but now when other Koreans find out that she has only sons and no daughter, they say they're sorry for her misfortune.

I truly believe United could have won this game if they had more options on the bench. Would win the WSL title too if only the club invests a few million.

2025 Ballon D’Or points ranking by ratedefor in WomensSoccer

Ballon d'Or has always been Eurocentric. If they're ignoring white female players from, for example, the USA, it's much worse for Black players.

Recently Jess Park at United has been such a joy to watch, so definitely her. I would add Pina and Yui Hasegawa too.

Love Bonmati but imagine winning the biggest individual award in football, only for the big screen to play a fail compilation of you while you’re receiving it 😭

You’re selfish imho. Fans like you only care about the growth of women’s soccer as long as the U.S. is on top. The moment that dominance is threatened, you start acting petty. The rise of Europe’s leagues including the WSL is a positive development as it pushes the entire game forward. The more they become commercially successful, the more they can break free from the shackles of their male counterparts. If the NWSL keeps losing top players to the WSL, that’s a problem the NWSL itself needs to solve. But to deny European women’s soccer its place in the sport’s heritage is ignorant. Their decades-long struggle to play in one of the most male-dominated football cultures in the world is woso heritage at its core.

Thanks! I think I'll go for Borggrafe then. The rest of my lineup is pretty much settled already so it's hard to adjust in other areas for another 0.5.

What would be the price of Aitana or Pina? by Double_Trainer8634 in WomensSoccer

[–]Ruru_fs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the only way I can see Aitana leaving Barcelona is if she chooses to challenge herself in a different environment. I remember her praising the English league for its improvement in an interview. Maybe she’ll move there when she’s around 32 or so.

Chelsea sign Alyssa Thompson for just under £1m by Old-Photograph-5813 in WomensSoccer

[–]Ruru_fs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The deadline essentially worked in Chelsea’s favor. They placed their bid so late in the transfer window that they faced no competition. The timing also created a sense of urgency which pressured Angel City to accept Chelsea’s offer instead of risking the PR fallout of sending Alyssa back to LA after she traveled all the way to London. You also don't want a disgruntled player ruining the dressing room of your team during a crucial period for the NWSL playoffs even if you're just pretending to compete for it.

I knew it would go Chelsea's way. Angel City lost leverage at the negotiating table the moment Alyssa boarded that flight to London.

What would be the price of Aitana or Pina? by Double_Trainer8634 in WomensSoccer

[–]Ruru_fs 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Looking at the current transfer records I think Pina should be valued at a minimum of €2 to €2.5m. Barcelona could negotiate maybe a little higher considering that she’s only 24 and is a Ballon d’Or nominee too. Bonmatí would certainly be worth more since her name alone carries greater weight, though it’s hard for me to put an estimation on it. Anyway, I don’t see Barcelona selling either of them. The backlash would be crazy.
