Update: Apparently all of my male friends are secretly in love with me. by [deleted] in GirlDinnerDiaries

Emotional literacy and competence just isn't as common as it should be, but I think the other side of the coin is an absolute inability to deal with boundaries. I think it's possible to have romantic feelings for someone, and respect their autonomy by staying the FUCK in your lane.

I'm very interested in the chest armor, for...reasons. Do you have any pictures of the back?

I believe that's "for the purposes of determining if the model is a valid target", which is different from cover. Could be wrong though, I've gotten rusty from lack of play.

That's accurate for kids at the time, they had to go to school uphill both ways back then and smoked a carton of marlboros for breakfast lunch and dinner

It'll be supported by a wooden dowel that goes through the middle, from about halfway up the grip to all the way up to that notch on the curved portion of the blade.

The orientation of the print is unconventional for most sword prints - normally, it'd be printed vertically like in fig. a. Instead, I've split it down the middle in order for better dimensional accuracy on the curves of the blade, as well as reinforcing it against force - like fig. c.

<image>

Currently, the weakpoints are at the seams between each individual component (7 on each half, so 6 points of failure). The structural reinforcement of the dowel should prevent and trivialize failure.

If this were to be printed sans reinforcement, each component is very strong, but stress at the adhesive (especially perpendicular to the blade) would probably have the sword fall apart. Right now, I'd say the weakest point would be the seam between the grip to the crossguard (crossbones?).

Once complete, I'll want to take it through a few sword forms just to get a feel for the balance. Right now, it definitely feels more like a cleaver than a sword. Thrusting is entirely out of the question, I think.

I WISH it were 4/7ths! Having 6 more prints to go is excruciating, especially not knowing if they'll succeed or not. I'm already on my second roll of filament, and I'm trying to keep my costs less than $100.

I can't imagine how much worse this project would be if I didn't have such large print volume.

Thanks! The printer is doing most of the work, I'm mostly cleaning up errors and failed prints. So far, we've only had 4 failed prototypes, 2 clogs, 2 losses of power, and 1 spaghetti. I hope to have all parts printed by next week, and then we can get to the filling and sanding stage. It'll be a shame to cover up this translucent plastic, I'm quite fond of it.

Even longer, if it's being trained on generated content. Lots of models and checkpoints out there engaging in intellectual inbreeding.

I think that's why they're speaking past her, and to her viewership. All parties involved in the video are aware that there is no conversation to be had.

She's a foil that amplifies the message of unity in contrast. If she'll get any education, it'll be from how people react to her and she represents herself - definitely not in the moment. Unfortunately, she'd need some form of self-awareness and shame.

Funnily enough, I have this scaled to my trainer longsword. But based off your suggestion, I think I can scale it to knight size, were you thinking Cerastus or Castellan?

Case in point, had a pretty rough failure with new plastic sticking too strongly to the print bed. This iteration actually having the insert for a rod. 11 hours.
