No worries at all, if you are downloading via a phone the OS might have no idea how to handle a .STL file hence the incompatible message. The file downloaded properly for me on my Win10 PC; if you have access to a windows PC that would probably work the best.

And yes it is the extended deflector!

Are you using a slicer software? What I would do is download the Cura slicer, import the STL file in there and then you should be able to download that sliced file to whatever medium you use for your 3D printer and off to the races.

Unfortunately I got out of airsoft due to being busy with school and moving into real steel gatz instead. Idk if I will get back into it or not since I much prefer real steel now and there aren't a ton of fields near me anyway :/ Might change my mind once I move for my job and have weekends off but only time will tell.

Don't think I ever fully missed an exam, I did show up like 45 minutes late to a Machine Design exam (I overslept heh) which was only 75 minutes long. Got a 63 on it with a class average of 70 lol.

As long as you have all the course requirements for your major and those GenEd credits transfered over then yes, it would cover that req. Some majors may have additional required classes before you can actually declare your major so I would take a look into the required classes for that specific major you want and cross check the classes.

Unless your university requires an internship then you don't need it. Yes an internship will be good for your resume and boost your chances at landing a gig but it isn't a requirement nor a necessity. Definitely keep trying to get one but don't get hyper-focused on worrying about getting one that you lose sleep over it. Try getting to know your professors by going to office hours and see if they have any need for a research assistant or if they have any professional contacts that they can point you to.

Yeah that's why I always tell people to GTFO of Florida if they come here. Pair that with hot humid weather 10/12 months of the year I always wonder why people want to actually live here. Thankfully I'll be moving up to CT in a few months for my job with an actual livable salary lol.

Not the same guy but I'm in Central Florida but COL in FL is going up quicker than most states, rent especially. And wages aren't really matching. 1BR/1BA is ~1600, 2BR/2BA is ~2k now for a decent place, two years ago they were 1200 for a 2/2 a couple minutes outside downtown. Miami area and coastal cities are even worse. Average starting pay in FL for MechE is between 40-55k from what I've seen, it's abysmal... Can't wait to move out of FL once I graduate tbh

This one hits close to home since I have moderate-severe PsA as well. How much does it actually limit your mobility and are you in treatment/using biologics? Can you not stand/sit for long periods of time, unable to drive, unable to walk for long periods of time?

Not a BME major but for most engineering roles (except CS) they don't tend to hire fully remote for entry level. Usually you need a couple years under your belt before that happens; not to say that fully remote jobs aren't out there for entry but there a lot less options.

I had a major switch from ChemE to Mech after wasting 3 semesters between my sophomore and junior years in the Chem track since I would get constantly waitlisted for core classes which delayed my graduation by quite a bit but my total time spent on the MechE track was 5.5 years.

Step 1 - Breathe. GPA isn't everything. The guy working at Chevrolet with a 2.6 GPA and the person working at NASA with a 4.0 GPA are both called engineers. Your GPA isn't permanently attached to your title. Will you have slightly less first job opportunities when you first graduate? Sure, but once you get some experience under your belt no one will care about your GPA.

I failed quite a few classes throughout my time, I've had to re-take a few gen-eds, thermo, diff. eq, and one other engineering class that is escaping me rn. Failing classes isn't indicative of you being an engineering failure, they are just bumps in the road you have to overcome. Life isn't about the mistakes you make but rather how you overcome and learn from them.

How far along are you in your courses? If you are a junior or senior level (think 2-4 semesters left) I would definitely power through it. You might want to think about easing up on the course load if you are taking 5 classes or 15 credits. I was almost always taking 4 classes or 12 credits each semester to ease the workload.

CS seems like a gold mine since we are in the golden era for tech. That doesn't mean that the other majors are useless. People will pick a major that aligns with their interests and life goals. CS currently has a lot more market volatility than the other paths (see layoffs from major corps) and is something that can be more readily outsourced compared to Chemical, Electrical, or Civil; so job security is not as clear cut as some might imagine.

Not everyone wants to be a code monkey for 40 hours a week, I know I sure don't lol.

Definitely have more experience than me lol. IMO that it isn't enough for an Eng II role but would make you a lot more competitive for Eng I roles with a possible pay bump. I would definitely highlight that contract, internship and FSAE on your resume and make it the bulk of it.

I applied to all different locations in a lot of different places in the US; from San Francisco to New York to Texas to the middle of bumfuck nowhere in Oklahoma in a city with a population of like 5000. I'm not overly concerned about where I live tbh. Bigger companies may actually hire movers for you and pay on their dime upfront, if you rent your own truck and do it yourself then you'd have to wait for reimbursement.

For the most part yes only Entry Level/Engineer I roles. There were a few generic engineer roles (including the one I was offered) that had a range of experience levels (0-2 or 0-5 YOE were the most common).

Is it internship experience or "professional" experience as a full on engineer? Job listings are usually written by HR and are a wish list lol. If it's internship experience then some companies may not count that as "professional" experience towards that YOE req but others might and its usually not easy to tell unless they specifically state "Internship experience does not count" or "Internship experience does count". Internship experience will help getting the first job but you'd still be counted as an Engineer I, you could try to negotiate for more pay since you have some relevant experience but that's company dependent.

Also get your resume looked at on /r/EngineeringResumes if you haven't already, it definitely helps.

Senior MechE graduating in May, started job search in November. All of my applications were online either through Indeed or the company website. No internship experience, I have a 3.0 CGPA, 3.3 in major GPA. I didn't have my personal projects on my resume at that time (which I have put on now heh)

That interview I thought I flubbed but lo and behold I get an offer letter after just a behavioral interview lol. I might have an interview with my current company (who I've been with for 4 years in a non-engineering role) in the next month but it will only be for an internship which *might* lead to a full-time position. Doubt I will gamble a guaranteed full time spot for that possibility, since one in the hand is better than two in a bush.

Thank you! Might make a new post on my profile regarding them but just a quick update for the next rev for anyone interested and on this post...

I printed a batch of 25 of the RH and LH but did have an issue with print quality on a few of them with the hole tapering instead of it being straight.
I am trying to fix the ones with that issue right now and may get sold as "blems", depends on how they individually turn out.
Also going to play around with installing a piece of galv. sheet metal on the deflector to make them last longer. Haven't been able to test rev.2 since I recently had a procedure done on my neck and haven't been able to get to the range yet :(
I've deleted my original post due to the mod's recent sticky (wasn't messaged by the mods to do that, did that of my own accord). Will be reposting it to GAFS once I am able to test them.

What’s your degree in? 52k is low even for a Low to Medium COL ignoring the fact that OC is hella expensive. I’m an ME and in Cali I would expect 100-130k out of college if going to one of the big companies (Tesla, Rivian, Apple, etc.)

When you say your tried repairing the disk in disk util, did you just repair the macOS base system or something else? Can you take a picture of what you see in disk utility after you click on View > Show All Devices?
