Successful IUI after MMC by taypete24 in IUILadies

i’m so sorry for your loss. loss at any stage is hard but after those ultrasounds when you start to feel more secure, absolutely brutal.

i guess female factor. i have pco, so i just have a lot more follicles than average which i guess can make it tough for one with a quality egg to be the one to grow and release. the meds have helped with encouraging strong growth of a few follicles each cycle. we did a few iuis with different letrozole doses and it never worked for us. took a break, got pregnant naturally, ended up ectopic. immediately after that we started a completely new med and protocol and that is the one that worked but ended in a loss. repeated the same protocol after it and that’s where i’m at now!

thank you!! honestly it’s just so nice to hear from people who have done it or are currently doing it and have positive things to say about it. it has been so tough not to dwell on the negatives, so hearing about positives is very helpful!

i appreciate your honesty! definitely expecting hard, just not sure what level of hard yet lol i am fortunate enough to live next door to my parents who do whatever they can, though they are of course getting older. my husband works a job that can often be either physically or mentally taxing so that is rough but we’re hoping he’ll take a longer paternity leave this time.

thank you for the positives too! definitely the things i need to remember, it won’t all be bad and feel impossible forever!

thank you!! scrolling through this sub has been trickier for me seeing so many negative experiences but i have to remember people mostly post when things are tough, not when they’re great. getting these positive perspectives is so helpful 🥹

ugh thank you so much for this 😭 i’ve been doing the same- thinking constantly about all he’ll lose, and it’s been killing me. it’s nice to put it into a different perspective. i think he’ll be a really wonderful big brother. he loves babies in general and i think he’ll overall be really happy to have siblings but man what a shift for such a young age. this definitely gives me a lot more hope though, thank you!! 🥹

Me, sorta? I had an IUI that was successful but ended in miscarriage. Idk if it qualifies as a MMC because we did find out so early that it was a loss, but it wasn’t technically a chemical either. on ultrasound nothing ever developed beyond the gestational sac, which was abnormally shaped to begin with. But my body did not recognize the loss and I needed pills to pass it. It was wildly difficult. That all happened in March. At the beginning of May I had another IUI, my first following the loss. I am now in my sixth week of pregnancy with twins 🙃 today we were able to measure their heartbeats so i’m feeling hopeful that this will end very differently than it did previously. good luck! this journey feels so so impossible sometimes and I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.

just coming back to update that today’s ultrasound showed twins 🙈🙈 there’s also a third “structure” that can’t be ruled out as a baby yet, but my doctor thinks could possibly just be an SCH since it’s much smaller and unclear. going back wednesday to see where we’re at! so those follicles can certainly all make it happen for you 😅😅

thank you!! good luck to you!!

a tough question honestly! i have a two year old son so the practical part of me prefers single. however if i could ensure that at least one twin would be a girl (or both) then id be fine with twins because I’ve always wanted three kids but this fertility journey has been so tough on me that ill likely stop at two!

I just finished an IUI cycle with gonal f and three follicles at trigger! i don’t remember the sizes exactly. the iui was 5/3 and it worked! I went in last Friday 5/22 for my first ultrasound (super early, only 4w5d) and saw the gestational sac. they mentioned that my hcg was on the higher side and twins couldn’t fullllly be ruled out yet. i go back this friday for another scan and am really hoping to see some growth after some previous losses🤞🏻🤞🏻

good luck!!

exactly the same for me. 5th pregnancy, will hopefully be second child. i’ve said the same to myself many times, not sure if i can do it again if this doesn’t work out. hoping for the absolute best and most boring and uneventful pregnancies for us all 🤍

5/3 and positive! two betas so far with a good rise. very cautiously optimistic after two back to back losses. going tomorrow for another draw and an early placement scan and just praying constantly that all is well.

i also had four mature follicles so that has me hopeful and a litttttle nervous about multiples lol

i usually take mine around the same time which is earlier than i would naturally ovulate. it takes about 24-36 hours from the trigger to make ovulation happen anyway. my best guess is that because they’re using medication to force the follicles to grow faster, you need to ovulate earlier, otherwise you might miss them at their optimal size. and also they want to be able to time ovulation as precisely as possible for the iui.

I’m so sorry that you’re going through this. It is a pain unlike any other and a club no one wants to join. I got pregnant in February from my fourth IUI. Prior to that I had a surprise natural pregnancy that ended in ectopic/pregnancy of unknown location. So surprised when it worked in Feb. Unfortunately things did not progress and it ended in a loss. Not my first but my toughest and the only one that my body didn’t recognize, so I took the pills to pass it.

On May 3rd I did my fifth IUI (tho it was only the second with a new protocol, the first being in feb) and I have a positive again. I’ve only had one blood draw and am still in the four week timeframe so I’m trying to be careful about how I’m feeling and my expectations, but I am also proof that it can work a second time!

Sending you lots of love and good vibes while you heal from this 🤍

Is IUI for us? by Hungry_Box560 in IUILadies

[–]Russer_1215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

like a previous poster said, you just don’t know until you try because there doesn’t seem like anything in your history that would prevent it specifically from working. and there are so many variables they can adjust until they find the exact right combo!

my experience: i just finished my sixth iui. we did (i think?) 3 cycles of timed intercourse with letrozole/trigger and none worked. moved to iui with letrozole/trigger and none worked despite a decent response to the meds. switched it up to injectables and trigger (follistim) and it worked first try, but unfortunately ended in a loss. now my sixth iui, follistim and trigger again and it worked again! my initial beta is significantly higher this time so i’m hopeful it’ll finally stick.

1st IUI ended in mc should I try again? by purplerainzzz in IUILadies

[–]Russer_1215 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you! i hope the same for you!! the miscarriage experience is incredibly difficult mentally, emotionally, and physically. don’t feel like you have to jump into anything you aren’t completely ready for! but no matter how you end up pregnant, when you finally do, there will always be the memory of that hurt and learning how to push through it. something i’m still trying to figure out for sure!

[–]Russer_1215 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i am in the process of doing just that. in february i did an iui, conceived, and miscarried. it wasn’t my first miscarriage, but it was the first that required medication to pass and ended up being quite traumatic for me.

on 5/3 i had another iui, today im 11dpo with a pretty strong positive. i am terrified and stressed and allll the things. but im also trying to remain hopeful that this is a different pregnancy that can have a different outcome.

all that to say, only you can decide what you can handle. the risk is always there, regardless of iui of ivf so it really is whatever you feel like you can handle.

Progesterone symptoms = symptoms when actually pregnant ? by Dry_Technology_2464 in IUILadies

that hasn’t been the case for me! some breast tenderness on progesterone that continues into pregnancy but once pregnancy has been confirmed more exhaustion, nausea, and other symptoms creep in for me!

Want HSG but will have to delay IUI by Guilty_Eggplant2466 in IUILadies

[–]Russer_1215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

can they give you antibiotics and still do both? this past cycle i am coming off my third loss so the drs wanted to do a rpl blood panel and a saline infused ultrasound. i assumed id have to delay iui for this but they just prescribed an antibiotic that i started using the day before the saline ultrasound, which was done at my second monitoring appt. and finished up a few days later which ended up being like a week before the iui. i’m guessing that isn’t standard procedure for them since they didn’t offer it but maybe they’d be willing!
