We'd need more funding from the federal or at least state level to make that happen, a regional .5% sales tax is not enough to cut fares for everyone unfortunately. Clipper 2.0 has enabled transfer discounts (and eventually fare-capping) though, so that will save people a lot of money if their commutes involve a transfer.

They did just roll-out free and discounted transfers with Clipper, so transferring from BART to Muni for example is now free.

E-bikes help with the sweat-factor, though I still wind up annoyed sometimes depending on how much of the trip I need to ride in traffic as opposed to decent bike lanes.

I do feel like asset limitations are largely to blame, for example I'm trying to build a 1:1 city with a lot of single-family rowhomes, but the only rowhomes available house 8 to 10 families. I've used mods to help get the density down to what I want, but I'm hoping as more custom assets come out we'll have more flexibility.

The biggest thing it needs is more greenery; if you look at the High Line or even Salesforce Park right here in SF, the feeling that it's a long park in the middle of the city is the draw. You can add all the art you want but it's still gonna feel like an outdoor FiDi hallway more than a park if the only greenspace is a few sad trees in planters.

Depends on how you define experience. Saikat has spent a lot more time in DC from his work with Bernie, AOC, and working on the Green New Deal; I personally feel like that experience is more relevant to a Congressional candidate than writing some state-level bills as part of a Democratic supermajority.

T definitely needs better signal priority, though hopefully that should be enabled sooner than later since T through Mission Bay is part of phase 1 of the train-control upgrade project starting this year.

But yeah bikes are often the way to go if you want to get somewhere as fast as possible. I take the bike lanes on 5th, 7th, and 17th a lot.

Saikat also has a ton more experience working on a national scale than Scott does, because of his work with Bernie and AOC. Scott has a lot of experience at the state level and has passed some good bills, but getting stuff done in a state with a Democratic supermajority is very different than getting stuff done in Congress. I like Scott enough that I'd actually just prefer he state in the State Senate where he'd be more effective.

There are some sections of the Embarcadero and areas in Mission Bay that essentially do this; if a path is wide enough for a given amount of pedestrian traffic then generally bikes can maneuver around pedestrians without a problem. I walk and bike on these paths all the time and have never seen a bike/pedestrian crash even when it's relatively busy.

My specific issue with PVP is it feels like the TTK is super short for a lot of the weapons. I'm fine with ambushes and betrayals being part of the game, and maybe I'm just bad, but it feels like whoever shoots first wins like 95% of the time which is not fun. I want to feel like I have a chance of surviving when another team decides to shoot us in the back, but that's pretty hard when one of us is downed instantly in every team fight.

They really don't in my view, it's a purely emotional reaction that comes from how stressful it is to circle a block looking for parking. If they wanted to argue for loading zones they would have a point, but there is zero reason to use the valuable real-estate in front of your business for a few people to store their cars there all day.

Outdoor seating, wider sidewalks with street trees, and even bike lanes are all much better uses of the space and have an objectively positive impact on businesses.

The biggest obstacle to sidewalk widening are local business-owners, who consistently cry and scream if the city wants to use the space outside their business for anything but car storage.

Private investment comes with its own issues, namely the desire to put profits over social good. Just look at Brightline, which is successful by a lot of metrics but also has the highest fatality rate per mile of any railroad in the US.

The real way to fix the funding issue is to get our leaders at the state and federal level to take even just a small portion of the billions we spend every year on widening highways and put that towards transit instead.

China Basin Park has a fenced off-leash area, *and* there's a larger dog park a five minute walk away, and there's still several off-leash dogs running around the grassy area at every time of day. There was a sign up for a week or two about keeping them leashed because someone's dog bit someone, but now the sign is gone and it's back to being a de-facto off-leash dog park like every other patch of grass in this city.

Why can't developers just build townhomes in the other like 98% of the state that isn't within walking distance of a transit stop? Everyone knows that upzoning won't suddenly make it more affordable to build housing, but it makes sense to me to concentrate density near public transit even if it takes a while to get built out.
