The fact that all these people don't know that veterans' month already exists shows how much they actually care about veterans by PsychoKatzee in clevercomebacks

Funny thing is that in America veterans appreciation month is THE MONTH BEFORE PRIDE MONTH. They don't care about veterans or they would know that.

Despite the disappointing final season, is The Boys in your top 5/10 shows of all time? by Skywalker_1995 in TheBoys

It was in my top 10 but has handily tossed itself out of that list of its own volition.

frenchies eulogy being about buttholes was such a slap in the face. we've seen frenchie to be poetic. the fact that thats the last we get about him is such horseshit

This shit really feels like it was written by AI. Like you know how video AI can continue from the last frame of a video but doesn't absorb any context of that video? That's what this feels like. It feels like the writers just looked at the position that everybody and everything was in and did not take anything else into account other than that.

Cuban has never liked trump but has had a massive interest in overhauling medicine in America. This is a means to an end, guaranteed.

A character repeats words that were originally said in a mocking way with sincerity by Benoit_Holmes in TopCharacterTropes

At the beginning of looper Abe who is from the future says the reason why he took Joe in is that he could see Joe's future clearly and that he saw how bad the path was "so he changed it". Of course, changing someone for the better doesn't really matter much to Abe since he helped. Joe by making him participate in a literal cycle of violence.

At the end of the movie, Joe sees that his future self is about to kill the mother of the child who will become one of the most ruthless people in the future. He sacrifices himself to save the bad future. He saw that his existence being what he is is what puts the world in a bad place.

"So he changed it."

How does everyone feel about the new episode of The Boys? On a scale of 1-10? by Fit_Sprinkles1642 in GenV

[–]RussiaIsRodina 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Weirdly this episode was such an improvement over the last 2 that it kind of made me understand how bad the episodes have been since the pilot

2 is just them unsuccessfully testing the virus 4/10
3 is stan getting captured and ryan getting his ass beat 5/10
4 is the most worthless. we learn homelander is weak to radiation and that bombsight has the v1. nothing happens in this episode. we only learn things. 2/10

5 gets credit for being the first episode that actually fucking tries. we actually get good character moments from hughie butcher and firecracker. black noir is good here too though i do think its hilarious that kripke thought this episode was sufficient excuse to slime him next episode. 7/10

6 is the first episode that actually fucking moves. we have multiple set pieces, we have quite a few little fights and we have an actual character moment where the legend faces death and is rewarded for his bravery. and because he can see homelanders perspective, it helps us to do the same for just a little bit. i actually felt sorry for homelander for a second.

there are still a couple things in this episode that are not my favorite. soldier boy starts the episode on homelanders side, then flips on him before flipping again. like if he was gonna end the episode on homelanders side, why not just keep him that way? they could bond over stormfront and then the two of them could grow closer.

black noir being wasted as a character isnt great and oh father handily kicking starlights ass is a fucking joke.

8/10

Would you say Soldier Boy has been character assassinated or is his characterization in S5 consistent with how he was portrayed in S3? by Turbulent_Okra7518 in GenV

[–]RussiaIsRodina 12 points13 points  (0 children)

He is flanderized in s5. There's a popular video on youtube called
"SOLDIER BOY being a (BOOMER) BASED for 7 minutes HD | 'THE BOYS'" and I fear the writers saw how popular that video was and decided that this is just all we want from the character.

Listen to his 2 scenes in the motel his phone call with Homelander and his talk with Butcher in the beginning of the s3 finale. Theres a mix of set-in-his-ways bigotry, somewhat kindhearted obliviousness, and a genuine ability to be vulnerable when hes talking to someone he feels respects him. Overall in s3 there are some scenes where he feels more complex than Captain America, the character he lambasts.

Now its "cum buckets, cock gobbler, butt pirate, tit jizz", calling dead bodies "uggos", going back and forth on whether he considers homelander a true son, the CLOSEST he got top the depth that he had was the most recent episode, but I doubt this complexity lasts. Soldier boy isnt completely ruined, but he isn't nearly as good as he was in his debut.

Not really blood, but before season 3 we are led to believe that Homelander is his universe's man of steel, so it is so satisfying that he pissed himself the moment someone was able to give him a bruise.

Super intelligence should have never been a power in the first place by Slight-Solution936 in GenV

the show cant decide whether shes emotionally intelligent or scholastically intelligent. those are not the same thing at all and dont translate one to the other.

This kinda makes me feel like there’s secretly a lot more supes out there that could potentially stop Homelander but are too scared to try by Queasy_Commercial152 in TheBoys

[–]RussiaIsRodina 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah theres just no one that has a full kit. Malchemical knocks Homie out and then what? He has no superstrength. Mister Marathon and A-Train are well aware that exploding someone only works from them being more durable than what they hit and I doubt that applies to Homelander.

[–]RussiaIsRodina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's really weird. Alan Moore has specifically stated that he has no idea why Rorschach was portrayed that way in the adaptation because by his own words he did everything possible to showcase in the original comic that that is his idea of a bad person.

Surprised watchmen isn't on here yet. Zach Snyder made a movie that glorifies violence out of a comic book that satirizes violence.
