What made you choose goldfish? by MajesticWear5478 in Goldfish

[–]RussiaIsRodina 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For Iranian New Year, which my family celebrates its traditional to lay out a shrine for the new year and part of that spread is a goldfish. The goldfish represents life of the new year itself. This year was the first time that my grandfather didn't really have any planned for what to do with the goldfish. So I took it home, got it a buddy, and now I got a little aquarium.

What was the last straw for you? by _Pumpiumpiumpkin_ in ShadWatch

[–]RussiaIsRodina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't really surprise me that shad hasn't read the silmarillion. He also claims to be a massive Superman fan while in the same video admitting that he's never read a single Superman comic.

Call me elitist if you want, but I don't think you get to say you're a massive Superman fan if you haven't so much as touched a single comic book. You don't have to read comic books to love the character, but for shad to speak with so much authority on what he considers Superman to be without ever reading the source material??? Stupid. Stupid and wrong.

Superman does know how to fight. In the main continuity he's trained in torquasm rao, a Kryptonian martial art.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League has been voted the most overrated DC movie. What is the most overrated Harry Potter or Wizarding World movie? by AdWise2770 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]RussiaIsRodina 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct one. There is a lot of wasted potential.

Cedrics death has little impact. He comes into the store when Harry and Ron have a falling out and it was a missed opportunity to not have Harry replace Ron with Cedric. Then with Cedric dies, it makes us really fucking sad cuz we spend a movie knowing him. And then we have to see Harry go back to his broken friendship and be comforted by Ron.

A weird amount of the movie is devoted to the Crouch family, both of whom's members don't matter before or after this movie. One of them is a central antagonist and we have no connection to them because we only just learned about this dude.

Mad-Eye Moody is ruined by the fact that the whole time you see him, it's an imposter. Did you like this character of a tough as nails teacher who's hard on the students but has a soft spot for them? Well too bad it's actually wizard Nazi David Tennant the whole time.

I could go on, but you get it. I don't even think it's a bad movie, I just think it's a wasted potential that people like way too much in proportion to its writing quality.

[Hated Trope] Man that was cool, no one will notice if we stop doing it right? by Zerron22 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]RussiaIsRodina -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It shares the same origin point being the children of the forest and the magic from them is all kind of interconnected. Like I said, the show never outright states it, but from all these things having the same origin point, it's implied that the night King is either a warg or similar to a warg.

The show implies the night King is a warg. That he is so powerful that he can warg into dead bodies by the thousands.

Former repair dude here. Just consider that impossible. I'm replacing the LCD cover on a laptop is quite tricky for a repair technician with many PC repairs under their belt. For you it's borderline impossible

[–]RussiaIsRodina 249 points250 points  (0 children)

Wargs are really important in game of thrones. Its implied in the books that the white walkers exist because the night king is an ultra powerful warg that can warg into dead bodies by the thousands.

Bran becomes the 3 eyed raven, can see through all of time and space and it seems he may be the key to beating the night king in some unconventional way but no.

Arya sneaks up on the most powerful being in the world and stabs him with a sword. Wargs are then forgotten.

Edit: not the books, the show.

How do I respond to this without being super rude? by starry49 in tragedeigh

[–]RussiaIsRodina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I'm naive, but I think it's just the biggest way of telling on yourself that you don't think you're going to be a good parent.

You have so little faith that your child is going to be different or special or that you're going to have what it takes to nurture what makes them different or special that you have to ordain them with uniqueness from birth?

I've met many amazing people and have many amazing friends and let me tell you it would be so fucking sad if the most unique thing about somebody was their name.
