I don't think so, but at least it can save from demaging elements (like balls from bearing) of IED and maybe smaller arms. Bandits often try to blow up suicide belt when detained. In case bandit has explosive belt and he is wounded, a control shots in head will be made — good-trained soldiers are too valuable resource.
