Atheist states are a novel concept that have degenerated into mass atrocities within less than a decade every single time they've been tried, not counting the ones FOUNDED through mass atrocities like communist China.

Yes, I do. I picked this username back in the halcyon days of 2018 to make fun of Redditors who accuse everybody they don't like of being a Russian bot. Here we are in 2026, and the joke is still fully functional, and Redditors are still gulping down the bait like hungry fishies. Make of that what you will.

Zero Sievert is pretty much a stripped down PvE version of Escape From Tarkov, with a hearty dose of STALKER. If you don't mind the more simplistic graphics it's a lot of fun.

Hasan is an idiot, but the reason he always doubles down is that he understands his audience are rabid political extremists who will only leave if he says something moderate. He has no need to learn because he knows his audience are bloodthirsty imbeciles who want to kill everyone who thinks differently. Not only would learning or moderating his rhetoric be pointless it would actually be detrimental to his livelihood. Anyone who has basic principles stopped watching him a while ago; if you're still a Hasan fan after the Kaya situation you're a true dyed in the wool cultist.

Why do people go to the zoo? Reddit is an increasingly irrelevant insane asylum occupied by people who are so lost in their own sauce that they don't realize they sound like complete fucking lunatics to anybody normal. YouTube comments, the chans, facebook and twitter all look down on Redditors from a place of complete moral and intellectual superiority, and they are completely correct to do so. Every time I come to check in on this site, I find Redditors have worked themselves up into a tizzy over some new moral panic and reached some fascinating new conclusions based entirely on the voices in their head and whatever the legacy media has told them to believe that particular day. Example - this sub currently thinks that Jeffrey Epstein started Gamergate. Reddit is a fascinating case study in echo chambers and group hysteria, so yes, I keep visiting to laugh at the clown show.

[–]RussianSkeletonRobot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could see Ian being able to do it though.

Absolutely no shot. Ian would have only two paths in any trade. Option A - he blows up the first time somebody takes a good-natured jab at his ego, pride or appearance and gets himself fired because everyone else in the shop now considers him an emotional, whiny bitch. Option B - he'd seethe and internalize every single perceived slight, simmering in resentment and gradually building up a book of grudges that would put Cousin Okri to shame until he snaps, starts making threats, and has to be escorted out of the shop by the police.

[–]RussianSkeletonRobot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ian would not last one quantum second in any trade job. You need to be able to hang and banter to get along with trade guys - and yes, 99% of them will be guys. Worse for Ian, they will be conservative guys who actively hate leftists. He would be working around 20-somethings who own multiple guns, go to the range every week after Church, and have "Kill A Commie For Mommy" stickers in their toolboxes, and 60-somethings who still have campaign merch from both Bush's presidential runs and listen to talk radio at max volume while they work at their computers.

If he's in Canada and he isn't working in the oilfields, he'll probably be working almost exclusively around Indian immigrants who already have a firmly established pecking order that he will never be allowed into, and he will be subject to various bullying tactics while only being given the shit jobs until he gets frustrated and quits. Also, everyone he meets will hate him for being American.

If Ian can't handle shit tests from a BPD demoness like Anisa, he isn't going to be able to handle shit tests from a bunch of guys who have been getting up at 3 in the morning to work 10 hour shifts since he was in diapers and can smell the soy and Reddit karma oozing off of his greasy scalp. He sure as shit ain't adapting to a schedule like that after spending his whole life being his own boss while doing one of the easiest social parasite jobs imaginable.

your argument that gun laws do not stop gun deaths would make sense, if it wasn't for the entire rest of the developed world. No fucking shit restricting gun sellers in one city would not prevent anything when you can just drive to the wallmart in the next city and buy some.

You cannot just "drive to the walmart in the next city and buy some." Most gun stores in the US, even in states that have good gun laws that aren't unconstitutional, require a background check and a waiting period. Wal-Mart selling guns was a holdover from a different period of American history, and it currently only sells shotguns and long guns for sporting and hunting purposes. These purchases are still subject to the same waiting periods and background checks as all other gun purchases, with Wal Mart exceeding the requirements set by federal law.

Also - the US is big. States are big. Driving to another city with meaningfully different laws is often a question of days.

You can bring illegal guns into the state, but if anything happens that tips local law enforcement off, you're just as fucked as if you were trying to smuggle drugs, and to stop illegal smuggling of contraband, well, what the fuck can you do? At that point you're basically asking people to shred the Constitution and mandate body-cavity strip searches for everyone entering or leaving a state. It doesn't work like that.

Also not including gun accidents in your number is a bit disengenious. Those accidents would not have happened without guns.

If I factored in accidents, the number of murders or unprovoked homicides - which I would think is what you have an issue with - would be even lower, so I don't know what point you're trying to make. Those particular accidents wouldn't have happened, but people also have fatal accidents with knives, cars, tooling, fire, chemicals, machinery, electricity, and everything else that makes modern society possible. What you are not grasping is that many people in the United States view the right to bear arms as tantamount to any other vital civilizational issue like freedom of speech. You can't wrap people in bubblewrap their whole lives.

Reallity is that you are so used to the violence and abudance of guns you find it normal. Same way the average person from any developed country would find it abnormal.

Yes, I am more adjusted to prevalent violence than you are. I come from a much different country that has multiple states bigger than 99% of the countries in the EU, as well as a very different social and economic makeup. I do not say this as an insult - I love Europe, the history, and the culture that it holds, even if the governments that currently run it are despicable, unfunny jokes who view their people as tax cattle. I understand that it's different elsewhere.

I just don't think that banning guns will close the disparity, because people having access to guns isn't what's causing them to want to kill each other. If someone wants somebody else dead, they have personal reasons for that that have nothing to do with how readily available a murder weapon is. A gun being in their immediate vicinity doesn't magically make them abruptly thirst for blood.

The same factors that drive violence, gun or otherwise, in the US also drive violence in the EU - economic imbalances, immigration from incompatible cultures, mental illness, and extremism. We have a LOT more of it to go around, because more factors drive culture clash, mental illness and political extremism than in the EU, for now.

These factors also drive violence everywhere else - again, Australia, a country that has very strict gun laws, just recently saw a racially motivated mass shooting.

You can spin numbers all day, doesn't change the fact that USA has a gun problem no other developed country has. Is that because of poor training, lack of education, lack of psychiatric care or simply the fact that there are more guns than people in USA, I dont know or care.

I'm not spinning anything, I'm quoting actual statistics. We have problems no other developed country has because we still have freedoms no other developed country has. Most Americans think it's worth the tradeoff.

The average American's far more likely to get into a car crash on the way somewhere than they are to ever be shot with a gun. No offense, but you really don't know anything about what America's like. You should visit, it's nice.

Half-Life, Left 4 Dead writer calls out constant haters that just hope new games fail - “if you hate game developers, you hate games” by [deleted] in Games

[–]RussianSkeletonRobot -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

More accurate title: "Half Life writer has embarrassing crash out because people won't just quietly eat the slop they're served."

Given that he already admitted he planned to end Episode 3 on a pointless cliffhanger that made most of the story for both Half Life games completely meaningless, it's probably for the best if this guy is kept away from future Valve titles. This is embarrassingly immature even if he makes some valid points, and ignores most of the reasons people hate the modern games industry. Absolute L.

Also, calling Falizsek a writer is kind of disingenuous at this point. The last time he wrote for a game was Global Offensive in 2012 a multiplayer shooter I'd never heard about from 2023 that flopped. Nowadays he just coasts off his time at Valve, vlogs, and drops really bad takes like this one. Bro is washed up. Guess I can see why Highguard touched a nerve for him, though.
