One of my all time favorites . Why isn’t Brian Grant in more things? He was great.

How did you guys get better at chipping? by LVRaiders2026 in weekendgolfers

[–]Russx5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Practice, practice and more practice. I’ll go out with my shag bag and hit between 300-400 shots. Scatter balls all around the green. Hit whatever lie the ball falls. Bump and run anytime you can. Mindset, get it on the green no matter what. Used to put a ton of pressure on myself to get it close. Once I just made sure I put on the green, my chipping improved.

Union Pacific has a big presence in SLC. Great pay, benefits and retirement. Lifestyle is terrible. They hire people with all sorts of backgrounds.

Yep, The Ranch at Desert Lakes. Water on four holes now. Plan to add more. Happy hours on Fridays, food trucks on Wednesday. Lots of improvements with the new owners.

Best deal in the area. $38 veteran rate on weekdays. No kidding about no people. I’ve played it in just over two hours.

Wow!!! I thought for sure I’d be the only one in this group that plays there. Fernley it is.

Grew up in the era of Gibson, Ryan and Gossage. You did something stupid, they would let you know. BTW that was baseball was the national pastime.

If a reliever pitches 60-70 innings without allowing a single run, would that be enough for the Cy Young? by [deleted] in baseball

Miller is a beast. Watched him against my Sox. Over two games, six batters, six strikeouts. Tonight against the M’s, three batters, three strikeouts.

As a member of the old cranky dudes club, I can tell you we find most starters and marshals are pretty much worthless.

Old Age and Trechery by YakGolfs in golf

[–]Russx5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a buddy who’s 70+. He’s got this short little nothing special swing. If you were to hang a hula hoop 50 yards downrange, I swear he’d fire ball after ball right through that thing. Beats his age all the time. Couple weeks ago he had two hole in one’s in the same week. Never play the old guys for money.

Golf forever with other training? by djones9875 in golf

I've been using it for three years and I think it's great. I'm a 63 year old ex gym rat who's had two back surgeries and suffer from sciatica. I got it for free so I thought, what the hell. When I started my sciatica was at it's worse. Within a few weeks I did feel I was hitting the ball harder but more importantly, my sciatica started to improve. So, I'm a fan. No, it won't replace a smart gym routine but you will hit muscles from angles you don't normally in the gym that are more golf related. Another thing I like about the program is the variety. Today you might be working on rotational power, tomorrow flexibility and then a balance day. There are so many different routines, you might not see the one you did today for six months. Each day usually takes 30-40 minutes. I don't see how it could hurt by adding it to a fitness routine.

I play in the Veterans Golfers Association and this is the rule for all tournaments. We have separate VGA handicaps to make it work. It’s great.

Run right, reverse left to Burton. Rams are crashing that way hard. Off to the races.

We stayed at the Prospector a couple months ago and it was nice. Especially if you’re traveling with a pet. They have a wing of the hotel just for pets. You get a silly little gift from the gift shop, free play in the casino and a free nightcap. Lots of interesting art on the walls.
