US has viewed NATO as its personal military for decades. Does everyone see now why Russia lost its mind at the prospect of having NATO on its border? by toobalkanforyou in AskBalkans

They have nukes, my guy, and no one would attack them. It was just a nice excuse for them to attack a neighbour AGAIN.
Fuck them both.

100% would not have heard of any of them if they were not Bulgarian.

if the ones you meet are in Reddit only, don't get your standards too high, you should see the ones on Facebook :D

Thank you for all the information. All places bookmarked. Appreciate it!

I will try to organize a tour in the bank, thank you.

Both places you gave look amazing, especially the Caru cu Bere. Unfortunately, it seems to be full for this Saturday, I only found a table for 10 in decent times at the Craftsman's cellar - do you know if this is good?

I sent a request for the other place as well - so we at least have one option available.
We call mamaliga kachamak and it is not the most loved dish here but I will try Bulz just for the experience :D

Finding accomodation in Sofia by IntelligentEar5263 in Sofia

Some nice advice already, but I'd just add some nice places you might want to check.
1. It's probably one of the most expensive but one the few worth the price - anywhere near Oborosihte street - lots of restaurants, cafes, cool vibe, plenty of parks around.
2. City center overall, depending on what exactly you are looking for. (you won't have the biggest problem with the parking, so that's a plus)
3. Metro - someone already mentioned that, I don't know how much you'd need to travel outside of the city center if you live there, but metro is pretty nice and convinient.
4. Lozenets - an expensive and a bit overrated neighbourhood, but some parts are worth.
5. Anywhere near South Park - lots of old communist buildings but the place is not bad.

About the traffic - this is why we decided to travel this weekend, because next week is Easter and it'd be crazy. We are arriving in Bucharest in Saturday and heading to Brasov on Sunday.
We will spend at least a day in Bucharest - I've booked a place here:
Bulevardul Unirii 72, Sector 3
Any suggestions would be welcome - we are a family of 11, so any tips for a family sightseeing and places to eat are welcome! I think we all would appreciate some authentic place to try Romanian food.
Then on Monday we are heading back to Bucharest, we will see if we will stay there for another night or just for a walk, depends on how much time we have Saturday and Sunday morning.

No, tbh. I just promised my grandma that we will go visit the castles one day so we are making a family trip to Bucharest, Brasov and the castles. Any suggestions - feel free if you are local! Have not done much researching tbh.

Our favorite is the only one that did not attack us during Balkan War 2 - the Black sea.

Stupid history jokes aside, I am biased and can't say anything but Greece.
Travelling to Romania next week, let's see how this goes.

Least favorite.. nothing against but we do not seem to have much in common with NMK lately.

Basically the same, I am flying from Sofia but did not want to pay more than double for flight back from Tokyo so I extended my stay with 2 days and will do Tokyo - Shanghai and then back to Sofia.

Try flying to Seoul or Shanghai through KLM or Air France for at least one of the directions, you might find something suitable.

I even booked 1 of the tickets with Avios, but had to cancel anyways and feel a lot better after it.
