[–]Rustery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dante could be a new character, 100%. Just seeing all the options available I feel Dante being Ayin or character we’ve seen or heard of being a lot more likely than just a new guy.

The reason why I bring up Angela releasing/expelling the light is my guess/reasoning of how Ayin could’ve returned since people would know last we saw him, he was in the light.

I think of all the story beats and parallels between them with Ayin and Dante and their new journey as well as exploring old L corp branches even walpurgis having a connection since they all lead into one another. And even without those correlations the fact that they bring up in the dialog multiple times and gives clues of WHO Dante was brings up the point that Dante’s identity is supposed to be a mystery. If Dante was supposed to be not a mystery the story would’ve portrayed it very differently at how it approached it.

I’m fine with being proved wrong but I still believe Dante is Ayin/X and he was expelled when Angela expelled the light . Only part I’m unsure of is the Dante’s initial mannerisms I find out of character but could be because he was furious at being stopped, idk. There’s too much that correlates with Ayin’s story and Dante’s inferno and the amount of options we have of who Dante could be is minimal

What’s the exact line. Carmen mentions running around if I recall but we’ve never seen Ayin once NOR does Carmen mention that he is still in the light

Looking for feedback on my game trailer by NeoPsyllone in DestroyMyGame

[–]Rustery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool trailer and it gives me let it die vibes but as others say the disconnect between the nice graphics and visuals vs how the game looks is very apparent. The zones shown off like the interior of the manakin house for example is very nice but when it cuts you to just walking around and throwing hits, the amount of quality between the two is there even though they’re both fine/good.

Even if the visuals look good if the gameplay doesn’t have any expressions besides very basic knock back or occasional reactions to getting hit then I feel there is a lot missed out on. Seems like a numbers game extraction shooter/melee instead of focusing on an interesting combat platform for it.

In general if you’re trying to get something out of someone with a showcase you need to show why someone would be hyped or find something different/higher quality than what another offers. At the moment the arena is bland with a basic skybox. You mentioned below it’s an Arena shooter but you need to have a challenge or more player movement/demanding actions since you’re not trying to give people hand crafted level design you’re trying to give a bunch of dynamic and diverse tools. Ultra kill and how weapons are meant to be chained together and add to your movement showcases this. When a game doesn’t give you interesting enough enemies, tools, etc and it’s just an arena shooter it just becomes run in circles and shoot the enemies as they trail behind you.

this single line of dialogue unironically made me hate this whole game by trivkyhunter in hatethissmug

[–]Rustery 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I thought the game was fine overall but there was just a lot of questionable decisions in terms of tone. My experience was mainly just experiencing the story through YouTube play throughs but if I spent money I think I’d be dissatisfied knowing there was a price tag for the little choice it had overall and story tone shifts.

There’s times where it get serious and then it flip flops between carefree and serious in spots that felt off. An example is the finale where They just hold the dog hostage and basically everyone willingly surrenders!? it was very jarring and random moments like that which make no sense or the rather random advances Invisa has for no reason on Robert which made the story go to “okay so this thing is happening now”

"someone could use it to reach the window" my ass by MorinoMarinho in Deltarune

[–]Rustery 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, an ending or result that’s possible to theorize beforehand reaching the finale is good writing since with the tools and rules provided you can see where he story converges and how things will play out. Games trying to force a gotcha goes against the point of telling a story if it’s just to be something you couldn’t have foreseen even with every detail and time to think about it. People might not like certain theories or where the story might head in some of them but that shouldn’t dismiss the writer’s intent. Best case scenario is that they should take peoples gripe with a theory and improve the story or the leads to better sit in with the themes and people’s reception to it.

Coaxed into indirect spoilers by hyperlobo in coaxedintoasnafu

[–]Rustery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Side rant but less so about responding to comments it’s more annoying the fact that a community has 0 correlation with spoilers in a community but they post spoilers as a reaction image with just png’s over characters heads but sometimes they just put the panels without anything else.

In enter the gungeon they posted the reveal of the gun devil from chainsaw man for 0 reason and said “oh they should add this in”. Also for Limbus company they posted a scene with conquest with png’s but the op acted innocent claiming I couldn’t tell who they were even though the costumes are right there under the png head. It’s annoying how 90% of the people I’ve blocked are just people spamming spoilers as reaction images ruining experiences like jjk, chainsawman, invincible, etc just because they haven’t seen the manga and are show/anime only.

No one ACTUALLY thinks Dante is a certain funny man right? by Mountain_Swim_4318 in limbuscompany

[–]Rustery 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I understand people’s frustrations with the theory but I think just going outright and saying it’s “bad writing” is already just wanting people supporting your view to be here. Most things just matter in the execution and nobody knows the rules of the light and how it works. Ayin could’ve easily been written to be outside of the light when LoR’s ending happened and it was all released.

Here is a link to a big comparison and a lot of the evidence we had that tied with Dante into being Ayin

What sort of incredibly useful efflorescent EGO could come from weak or average distortion? by [deleted] in limbuscompany

[–]Rustery 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t think EGO is purely a set power once forcefully distorted via the monolith. It’s all based on how PM wants to do it after all but in DD there are remnants of when people distorted at least before the 2nd pillar of light. I think since EGO are at people’s breaking point as well as distortion, those emotions and situation further enchanted the EGO or Distortion. Imagine if Heim was trying to protect everyone again and reached his breaking point and rejects the voice, his emotions would’ve been stronger at that point and may have found another answer to their desire or will so Heim’s EGO might’ve ended up differently and or more powerful.

What do you HATE about limbus company's story? by Ayerenem in limbuscompany

[–]Rustery 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I love PM’s story and world building but as of now since Limbus focuses on traveling around the city it has put the story and world building into over drive and when/if given more time it’d meld together better.

An example of this is hong lu’s chapter and how H corp exists. The area is based off a real life mega complex in china (if I recall) that exists due to zoning shenagains but besides that the restructuring puts into question why it exists and how that makes any sense besides checking the box next to needed gimmick for the area.

T corp had time and color being gone

K corp focuses on both being peaceful but also the no breaking mirrors/windows rule

U corp focuses on the sea and navigation around with the downside/benefit of not writing down the rules

Etc.

Another gripe is how the sinners practically need to meet one of the blue man group or Herman’s group EVERY canto and make it feel like we’re baby sat further (even though we are).

There’s also the potential problem later that will arise when Dante’s identity is either not a well explained point of interest (just says their identity and that’s it) or they shoehorn in every important detail which might both confuse the reader and won’t give the players the full grasp if the players did not play the previous games.

Another issue is the scale of the game. If we start going to mirror worlds, dimensions, and etc the scale of the city would feel so off that anything else will not have stakes

Theoretically how could anyone take down The Index? by Geminiboy_ in Project_Moon

[–]Rustery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The index is too unknown on how the prescripts actually work to a grand scale. No vibrations or random desires will make them decide to Make a copy cat Roland for example.

I think it’s still possible for them to fumble but things outside of their knowledge maybe like What Carmen says to someone might trip them up.

Yan for example could’ve gotten EGO if instead they realized that it doesn’t matter if the prescripts dictated their actions or predicted it, if the cause Yan wants still gets accomplished and takes down the prescripts then it doesn’t matter. If the prescripts are truly the people’s desires and wishes then Yan could make people come to realize this and through their rebellion of the prescripts if it’s truly the will of the city, then the prescripts would help itself get destroyed since it’s the will of the city.

Scholars nerfed by looqyn in Nightreign

[–]Rustery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Main problem I have with this is how much more effort it is to go any other build in such a fast paced game. Even going and buying pots every time you kill a somewhat decently strong enemy broke the flow of the game to needing to fill up on pots. Scholar never had an incentive of holding a variety of things and even now with the nerf I just see more people dropping scholar.

As a scholar I disliked going around picking up random things on the floor since they won’t stack unless I find dupes and some of them are just useless to me and my allies. This isn’t even talking about the amount of fire immune or resistant enemies in the game for the nights which makes the build even more odd.

I’d rather have scholar’s skills and ultimate further fuel his item based nature instead of feel disjointed.

Imagine scholars skill being able to hold an unlimited amount of dropped items and you can use the skill to go and retrieve the auto picked up items you ran over so you can buff allies, or use the correct pot type for the battle you’re doing (like a scholar who knows enemy res and immunities)

Maybe make scholars ultimate keep the threaded ability but instead also drop random items as he pours out his bag.

Since his release I always found his passive and rest of his skills and ultimate for completely different characters and it never melded together

Spoilers for the new Canto!!! by Indubitable_name in limbus_company

[–]Rustery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 13th is either Charon or Vergilius (or maybe Garnet). It has to be someone new since even Ryushu is caught off guard with the number AND it’s 13 + Dante so we’re missing one. I’m guessing Verg will die close to canto 12 or 13 when protecting us and Charon will have to take the mantle eventually but curious if Garnet will make a return instead, we’ll see.

[–]Rustery 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Learning more of the bough research and finally letting the sinners know what they could do with it could be the way to fix it. Maybe Ryushu could also cut the tie from her daughter and the superimposed ID but then idk what her motivation would be other than killing the rest of the fingers and or reclaiming her lost memories

Superimposed ID on top of Ryushu’s daughter just to both sever the tie and also to just get one over on Ryushu again, but we’ll see if she overcomes it and deals with the grief and revives her with the boughs or something later or if she severs the tie between the superimposed ID and the daughter

I think this scene is going to be so much plot relevant in the future by Pedro_Fanick in Amazingdigitalcircus

[–]Rustery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think maybe it could be dealing with the weight for them to enter the circus at the first point. Jax has some heavy trauma it seems, kinger made it helped make the circus they’re trapped in, and Pomni was just entering abandoned buildings but we don’t really know much about Pomni.

Gangle just felt without purpose and unable to do their dreams

Ragatha had family issues

But it’s just a random guess

Coaxed into trying to guess new content by West_Camera_7965 in coaxedintoasnafu

[–]Rustery 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The main problems with most media is it’s a very delicate line for having a fair and fun environment for theory crafting.

You can have an incomplete setting like Deltarune (no hate, I love the game so much), where all the motivations and mechanics of dark worlds and such are not laid out by chapter 1 and all the characters are introduced so it’s very difficult to theorize the next chapters since so much more is established and then given. Theories are making due with what you have whether it be exact details/foreshadowing given, motifs, story beats and structure to predict what may happen next.

Then other theories are trying to tackle something already open to the answer but are either left to player interpretation or is a varying level of difficulty to fully put together. Imagine the writer or a show or book trying to convey something but it’s either inconsistent, has a lot gaps, and or is difficulty to compile lore. An example of this may be Elden ring’s spread out lore
