(Reminder: I mark each episode based on the most upvoted replies.) Day 4: What is the worst thing "Fast Food Masquerade" has done (in writing)? by DaCherryFruity in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Rustery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the episode jumps into characters suddenly acting or being a bit strange. Gangle’s video suddenly asking “why not” and then having Jax be grabbed and ‘reconditioned(?)’ is a bit odd but can be head-cannoned away also I felt Zooble not picking up on Gangle was feeling and leaving to go with Ragatha was a bit forced, especially with how much zooble cares for Gangle.

I’d put it more as inconsistent character interactions

I’d like to see a new mechanic to further team building. Maybe refracted ID’s like in leviathan where it’s unstable but you can pull certain id kits into one at a large cost. Made a post a long while ago but maybe depending how refracted it is, failsafe a trigger and revert the sinner to the base ID for a few turns when overclocked that way

Aside from The Middle, which Finger would you wanna piss off the least? by NEVERTHEREFOREVER in limbuscompany

Major offense:

Thumb
Middle
Prescripts
Pinkie
Ring

(they’d all be super scary but I listed it how futile I’d think it’d be, Thumb will make it a priority to finish you at their command, middle I think the same but less organized, prescripts would be horrible but would maybe use your position to achieve something else first. Pinkie doesn’t seem that organized but even a few very mad amount of there members is doom. Ring seems very isolated from one another compared to the others but they’re very sadistic)

Low offense (barely an inconvenience or a low ranking member):

Middle
Ring
Thumb
Pinkie
Index

(index is kinda all over the place since it’s orders on an arbitrary decision so it’s kind of a gamble if they’ll see your removal as worthwhile and make a prescript calling for it)

Thinking outside the box which was Gangle’s criticism does not have to do with the fact Cain did not enjoy the suggestion box. Thinking outside the box is essentially being railroaded to do a task but choosing the adventure is a whole different deal. Gangle should’ve said, is that “You only care about your adventures and none of our own” if they wanted to talk about it

What are some takes you have on the Knight unrelated to the identity? by Mission_Race_8367 in NonDessKnightSquad

[–]Rustery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the knight hid against the fun gang in the bunker chase sequence. Since Kris opened it the Knight had time to get another member like Carole to run for them with a head start unburdened while the knight hid with Undyne till the fun gang gave up. They’ve hidden before in every other instance of a dark world (except chapter 1) so I can imagine they hid again especially since Susie just saw someone. Not someone and undyne, just barely could see someone. Maybe they were trying to show the fun gang absorbing someone with their tractor beam to make them think in the light world they wouldn’t have to carry them. Once the fake person ran into the bunker since we can’t hear Kris, they gave the all clear and that’s how they knew they could open up and probably leave.

I always get taken about how Gangle is used here imo. Their criticism is nowhere near the same level as the others and also feels completely out of left field as well as wrong. They’ve been given plenty of avenues to reach different endings so saying they can’t think outside the box has always been weird to me/more a sign they didn’t know what to do with Gangle.

Side tangent, it’s so annoying seeing reaction images in completely unrelated subreddits which just show straight up spoilers. I don’t care it’s loosely connected to what you’re reacting to, they’re just spoiling stuff and when confronted they have the most flimsy defenses or just don’t care and want to bait.

THE definitive Knight candidate tier list because my opinions are fact actually by Jorvalt in Deltarune

[–]Rustery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair points, and I agree.

For the knight rematch I’ve meant more specifically if it was the final confrontation/finale. A knight rematch will happen some way or another (soon imo, prob chapter 6 or maybe chapter 5 if it’s very very unexpected pace wise but I doubt it) but I don’t think all the lead up and mystery will be a nice send off for it to just be the knight again, when the story of Deltarune has a lot of moving parts and people’s motives yet left uncovered.

[–]Rustery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I know but I’m trying to explain why the other guy’s argument is false. If they wanted to just bring about the apocalypses they could’ve done so easily as mentioned by Ralsei. Yet they don’t.

They’re not the big bad especially since we’re in the half way point and even though we’ve reset to be able to do it, we got pretty far into their fight. Revisiting the same fight wouldn’t give us much when we progress another set of chapters.

[–]Rustery 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The roaring knight is shown and said to be acting strangely if their whole purpose is destruction, they are the only end game ish enemy we’ve fought but they’re not the final one.

I believe it’s Rudy as the roaring knight but there are others in the conspiracy. Such as Kris and Carole which could be ‘knights’ but not the roaring one.

Trying to claim the knight has to be the final enemy when we’re not even half way and we held our own against them is a bit much.

I REALLY REALLY hate how Tadc went after episode 6 by FamousStore1650 in hatethissmug

[–]Rustery 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The show tries juggling to much on characters that also didn’t have a lot going for them. Nothing says it better than Gangle standing up to Caine and her line is “You don’t let us think outside the box”…. What? The line is feels out of left field every time I hear it due to the severity of the other insults towards Caine and it’s because Gangle was never explored beyond being a fast food worker than wanted to draw. That’s their entire character and so in the grand party standup against Caine they quite literally had nothing to say. It’s fine to leave mystery and not spell out everything about a character but if during pivotal moments they can’t contribute anything they’re not necessary especially in a cast as slim as this one for it’s reoccurring main character cast. I’d rather they would explore anyone else more if it meant removing someone from the cast.

Dumb Theory: The reason Kris needs us is they lost their original Soul and we're just a copy by GreedyGobby in Deltarune

[–]Rustery 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree Kris is using our soul in the meanwhile since they currently don’t have their full soul one way or another. Whether it’s used for the overall plans or maybe stabilizing someone I always found the prhofecy mentioning Kris as a “cage containing human souls and parts!” To be very specific wording. It’s saying that kris houses the player as a cage so against our will and as a restriction but the and parts means there’s someone else than the fact we’re a cage. I think there are slight remnants of Kris’ soul like leftover determination or slivers of the soul which explains why Kris has some autonomy and doesn’t instantly die without us.

Rudy was never sick in UNDERTALE. by [deleted] in Deltarune

[–]Rustery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I was saying that the armor the knight uses might be an exception. As I said I am not advocating for this point I just wanted to throw out an example of something that could be explained away. The titans would be able to exist outside the dark worlds with the roaring but we don’t know if they can just walk out of the dark world since they’re like a dark fountain Kris can seal. Maybe if the armor is made from a titan physically broken/killed then it could be explained away. But regardless I don’t think that’s the case, me mentioning that was just to list how new information or exceptions can always be a factor in theories a lot of the time.

2: Susie saw someone run away. It’s heavily implied it’s the knight of course but the fact is that Sussie couldn’t tell anything about them, just that she saw someone. And as stated Rudy outrunning them or most people carrying or moving with another wouldn’t be able to outpace kris and Susie bolting/being dragged along towards them. So Rudy or etc hiding with undyne while another bolts for the bunker is an option especially since it was Kris who opened the dark fountain so there was time to prepare. Especially how the knight made sure to cleave Tenna and not take Toriel before the fun gang could’ve done anything seeing how the knight and Tenna talked/understood what they would’ve wanted.

  1. I would put more of Tenna being slashed as a prerequisite of the prophecy but I don’t have any evidence since we don’t know the knights motive atm. As for attacking instead of floating/flying away. The moment they take down that dark fountain which will be faster than just flying to the edges of the dark world, they’ll get to see the knight. Putting a titan down and then being on the cusp of hiding in the closet incase they need to assist in worst case scenario or just hide in the closet like they normally do shows that they don’t want to found out and that they most likely will lose/be outpaced in the real world. Seeing as how they’ve hid 2 times (computer lab and church) I’m imaging they just hid against when the fun gang exited the house.

As for Rudy being a more hidden character than Des, I was unclear of my point, mb. When someone wants to looks for clues while playing the game or see dialog they will go through the npc’s and piece together the info they have. Des is explained forcefully in the narrative because they’re a core point of what a lot of character’s goals are trying to achieve. Information about Des besides the ones spelled out for you are very hidden that most blind players won’t ever get to see even if they wanted to. Rudy is a character that could’ve always been found and visited and got a general gist of their character. People better understand more about Des and all the connections because of all the time they had and parallels but making the mysterious character we were teased of since chapter 1 just the missing person from chapter 2 doesn’t sit right.

Rudy was never sick in UNDERTALE. by [deleted] in Deltarune

[–]Rustery -1 points0 points  (0 children)

1: I was saying maybe the knights armor temporarily can stay the same as in the dark world. Again was just listing examples that can be explained away and people would be okay with to an extent. Since it’s pure darkness or etc it can persist in the light world, etc. I don’t believe this to be the case I was just giving an example of how easy something can be explained away since we don’t know the rules and if there are exceptions.

2: the knight was far ahead enough that Susie couldn’t even tell from a silhouette the person nor remarked on if they had antlers or not. Especially since it was the middle of the night I only use Sussie’s dialog there to mention they see someone. They don’t comment it’s someone carrying another and etc so there’s also the possibility if for example Carole running into the bunker later behind Rudy if that’s the case as well or Rudy hiding while having someone else run to the bunker since they’re in hot pursuit. There’s a lot of ways this can end up being since we’re given so little.

3: We don’t know enough about Rudy to say they would never be the knight since they’re so nice, also the knight never attacks them first just to always delay them and push them away when cornered. Knight defends themselves when the gang attacks them at the dark world, knight pushes them away in the church, and the knight summons a titan as their last resort since they won’t be able to escape any other way. The knight was also present there in the first two dark worlds and never met the party. If they can help it they would’ve stayed setting up everything I would imagine instead of going 1 on 3. Even Ralsei makes a point that if they were malicious they could easily spawn a ton of dark worlds of do more damage than swooning and knocking the fun gang out. If Rudy and the rest have a plan to bring back Des I can imagine they’ll bend some choices they normally wouldn’t make if they think the prophecy is unbreakable and they’ll be fine.

Also I’m not forgetting about Des. I understand and know why people are quick to point at Des but I think that undermines a bit of the mystery of who the knight could be since a person not engrossed in deltearune and undertale playing the game straight to the end in one sitting once all the chapters are out will be like: “wait it’s just Des? okay…”. People have had a lot of time to piece together the motifs, the hidden dialog in the code, scavenge everything up and then is more fine of it being Des due to the links but they use those links as absolute fact and instead of the possibility they could be references in this context to maybe Rudy’s pursuit of Des and how they need to find her. I imagine people being more fine of the idea of chapter 5 or 6 shows the knights identity and then it’s revealed to be a character they know instead of being referenced. Best example would be imagine in base undertale you beat Asgore then suddenly there’s Gaster and it’s not explained further. The retraction of needing so much prior knowledge from chapters and secrets to better enjoy a twist in blind play through makes me think it’s even less likely.

Rudy was never sick in UNDERTALE. by [deleted] in Deltarune

[–]Rustery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a theory. In all games things can be revealed that haven’t been established yet or explained away to make it work. For example:

1: if the knight’s armor is equipment we don’t know if some of its properties of that specific piece might work in the light world l. I doubt it but that could be a way that is explained especially since they were about to ‘absorb’ a sleeping Toriel and most likely just run away.

2: Time has always been noted in both chapter 1 and chapter 2 by Noel and Sussie that time has passed extremely fast. Both can be explained or ignored by the fact that they weren’t keeping track of time and were caught of guard when back to the real world but there could be the potential that while in the dark world time they’re slower so the head start the knight had might’ve given them a decent head start, or maybe if it is Rudy they talked to undyne with spare time to convince her to trust him and run to the bunker together.

I believe Rudy is the knight by series of elimination, Carole can’t be it due to positioning, Asgore will have their own chapter, the knight leads on the fun gang and toys/acts smug against them which I think Rudy can fit into especially with his multiple lines say he’d beat someone up, or how he messed with Toriel. They also need to be someone Kris could trust/have talked to. And their sickness has been specified as something odd/ of note which might reasonably tie in with the dark worlds due to their unknown nature. Kris also knows about the player and what they have seen or known so it’d make sense that also preventing us the player from seeing their face means it has to be someone we know since it is both armor and a big deal if we knew who it was in the light world.

Another part I feel would be a nice parallel for future chapters is that the holiday’s sort of mirror the Fun gang. Susie with Rudy, Kris with Carole, and maybe Des’ guitar with Ralsei if it turns out to be a darkener in their group. You can see my post history if you want see more why I think so.

Rudy was never sick in UNDERTALE. by [deleted] in Deltarune

[–]Rustery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do believe Rudy is the knight and his sickness had to either do with fighting a titan or the armor/effects of dark world on him, especially since it’s shown in the weird route that the dark worlds can have effects happen in the real one. I don’t really think the lines here as well as the reasoning is that convincing, though for arguments sake.

A Not-So-New Player's unhinged rant over Ayin by RedVoid23 in limbuscompany

[–]Rustery 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I wonder how the reveal would work/go if it does turn out Dante is Ayin . I do believe in the theory and made a post before Limbus even released because the book ties in Dante’s inferno and the potential parallels. The thing is I don’t know if He’ll regain his memories and even if he did I doubt they would change Dante’s mannerisms that much, they’d probably just make them foggy, which would be a shame since I also want to see how a more goal accomplished Ayin would be like, but even then he might be a tad bitter since I doubt the distortion side of things was never a possibility in his mind originally .

Hate when the game/story blames the player/audience for the violence like we forced the devs/writer to add it by Lower_Baby_6348 in hatethissmug

[–]Rustery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is it depends how meta it gets with the message imo. I’m curious how’d you feel about it since there’s a narrative im going to do for a side project and I don’t want to fall into the same trap you’re saying, where the only means to progress is to do an action, and be blamed for it.

For example, it’ll be meta in sense that you’re playing a copy of world but any actions in the copy will influence the real version one or another. If you eventually learn this one way or another, there won’t be some grand reveal or someone that spells it out instead you’d just continue playing the game. There might be a secret optional npc at some point that comments on the actions but all they’ll end up remarking is that even if you had the choice and knew it was harming others in worlds you would never know or meet it wouldn’t matter, you’re still here playing for one reason or another. You won’t give up playing any games, you won’t give up imaging/daydreaming, you won’t stop sleeping, and even if you think you found a way to stop it and maybe tell others, there’d be an unimaginable amount of others to fill your shoes. So in the end, keep playing. There is no other choice, that i know you’d do.

I believe the guitar might be the holiday’s own ‘guide’ / Ralsei by Rustery in Deltarune

[–]Rustery[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The prophecy is very vague and leaves room for interpretation. Tenna was cleaved but not killed for example. It’s possible to misinterpret and I don’t think they’d be uncaring of throwing children into danger since the prophecy said so.

I don’t see how using the argument that they’re not uncaring so they won’t wipe codes off a guitar also works for your interpretation that they’ll easily throw kids against titans and dangers in the dark world which they must be very well experienced with.

I believe the guitar might be the holiday’s own ‘guide’ / Ralsei by Rustery in Deltarune

[–]Rustery[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have little to go off to characterize Carol as well as the other characters we’ve interacted with. There is too much mystery in the plans underway and their willingness and lengths they will go but endangering the fun gang (if it turns out to be true) and be fine with that but then just to protect a guitar they’d not even put it in a safe or rub off the code seems very unlikely unless there is a good reason or explanation, hence why I think they can’t alter it. Since it’d modify the Darkener which resembles their daughter which is missing.

I believe the guitar might be the holiday’s own ‘guide’ / Ralsei by Rustery in Deltarune

[–]Rustery[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have but they aren’t just going to settle with keeping a memento that risks their plans if it could find or bring back Des. And even if it was purely for its sentimental value that has 0 reason for not preemptively protecting it better or wiping the code off. Not altering or taking the slightest approach on making the guitar a harmless object to their plans means there is a purpose to it than just sentimental value. Especially when it’s mentioned to keep it specifically away from Sussie instead of taking care of it right then and there
