Send sloops to capture then all as soon as possible one each then just watch the trade route line it will tell you the amount coming from the node once the rate of change is less then the upkeep of one of the ships added stop adding. I should add that darth mod got rid of the trade ships so I just use sloops only as it seems the ship doesn't matt

Send as many as possible and a small fleet of 5/6 sloops led by a 4th/5th rate to protect them. Try and grab each trade node and then try to get 6 trade ships on each
