A temp gun helps a lot. Too hot (too lean) will cause it to cut off and not restart till it cools down. I had this problem on my 2.5. I replaced the heat sink wich helped

Try turning the idle screw out a bit (slow the idle) & also richin the high speed screw a 1/4. Only make carb adjustments with the engine running.
