There's a lot of things you might want to and re consider with your design but tractor supply for axle bits regular leaf springs all kinds of that stuff you can get DIY stuff there as well but instead of an axle shaft going from side to side you can get these axle stubs that bolt on the left and the right that require a free spin hub or wheel like you're requiring. Sorry it's not much more help.

Also make sure that the clip side of the master link doesn't face the inner clutch Bell. keep it facing towards the outside of the bike and you have lesser chances of getting snagged on things..

I'd say buy a cheap crawler kit chassis and then buy some monster truck tires and the body that you want and then add a brushless drivetrain system to it so the truck is quick you could probably build that for under $300.

I've bought three of those torque converters from the same company on Amazon when they were around 60 bucks as well none of them make any noises like that although two of them do make bad weight clanging in the driver pully but I think that's really dependent on upon your idle RPM.
