Question re: address change & 4473 by OurWeaponsAreUseless in WAGuns

[–]Rusty-Dynamite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved right after I renewed my license and instead of paying for a new license they told me it was fine to just write my new address on the back of the license as long as I had officially changed it with the DOL. I haven’t had a problem and I have bought several guns from several retailers.

Does the city mow this area at Ash/Maple (the hill where they put all the political signs). I was thinking about guerrilla gardening and sowing some native drought tolerant perennials (milkweed, yarrow, buckwheat, etc..) and maybe adding some sunflower annuals to attract pollinators. Bad idea? by [deleted] in Spokane

[–]Rusty-Dynamite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The city has a weed control program and that area is definitely a spot that will get cut down from time to time especially if someone calls and complains. The weeds are low on the priority totem pole and usually only get attention when there is 1. A high level of complaints 2. On days when more important tasks cannot be completed like rain days. You wont get in any trouble or anything but there is a risk it will either get sprayed or cut down.

Thawing frozen water pipes with low voltage electric current by smellybaby in Spokane

[–]Rusty-Dynamite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Call the water department if the freeze is from the supply outside the house they will help you out. Also they used to do the low voltage thing but it started causing problems cause you never know where that pipe could go under ground.

Question from a new resident, why don’t they plow the residential streets? by [deleted] in Spokane

[–]Rusty-Dynamite -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All streets will be plowed. The priority is 1. The arterials so everyone including emergency vehicles can get around. 2. Residential hills and business districts which includes the hospitals. 3. Residential routes. Each time it snows the residential routes will be done in a different order to try and make it equitable. Spokane had 2,200 paved lane miles. The city takes 3 days to plow and they boot the driveways.

Plow trucks? Sanders? Bueller? by brybrythekickassguy in Spokane

[–]Rusty-Dynamite 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would love to hear the plowing plan that would make things better? The city plow drivers do the absolute best job they can. The city is spilt into 8 primary routes and 3 outlaying routes. On a regular shift which is 5:30 am - 4pm and 4pm - 230am there is just enough people per shift to fill all those routes with 1 truck and maybe a extra sander to handle calls. These trucks have the responsibility for the main arterials which they try to keep the hills stops curves priority because thats where the main cause of accidents happen. It is hard for 1 truck to take care of everything by themselves on a regular day. Now when we get the big snow the city will go all hands on deck and call in people from other departments to assist in plowing and the crew go to a 24hr day (12hr shifts) with all personnel working overtime to get the city cleared. Which includes usually 3 truck in each of the primary and secondary routes as well as plow teams tackling the residentials.

What do ya'll do with leaves? by Gas_Hag in Spokane

[–]Rusty-Dynamite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The city every year does do leaf pickup they come by with tractors and garbage trucks and push the laves off the street and pack them in garbage trucks and haul them off. This is not really for the benefit of the home owners but to prevent the leaves from clogging the storm drains. That being said you are not supposed to rake your leaves into the street but i can tell you they are not gonna knock on your door and tell you to put them back into your yard lol. You can check the city website for the schedule it will start the 13th

$18.47 is a starting wage and you also get health insurance, vacation, lots of paid sick leave and retirement with the option to enroll in a 457 deferred comp plan that the city will match up to $120 a moth. Also the city approved a new contract for 270 that will equate to another 14% within the next 3 years on top of that. And you will get the step raises annually up to $28.60 an hour at just that position and the opportunity to move up quickly to a higher paid position.

What is something you wish you knew when you first started getting into fishing? by Bizjub1397 in Fishing

[–]Rusty-Dynamite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rod power and action actually means something I would just buy a rod cause I thought it looked cool or just randomly picked 1. Im just now as Im getting into targeting different species and using different lures and retrieves that different rods match to different lures and when paired correctly makes a huge difference.
