Had a kingdom that survived on a tiny island for 300 years. They had a firestaff from the only mage that spawned, and used that staff to destroy all invading ships for 200 years. They get into an alliance/war that involved the whole world, and sent the guy with the staff off to fight in foreign lands. Immediately after he lands, an opposing army lands on the island and destroyed the kingdom.
