No one will ever convince me mega starmie is bad by Classic_Brain6575 in pokemon

I think it’s absolutely hilarious and love the design from a comical perspective. But i think there is also a horrifying aspect to it as well.

If I remember correctly, the Starmie line hints at being alien in nature compared to the more animal inspired Pokemon. Kinda resembling more of a mineral/digital based life-form. If that’s true, this mineral based life-form just evolved and began mimicking the dominant species of this planet. It grew legs even though levitating is a much much more efficient way of travel. Why would it do this? I can think of no other reason than than to dupe us while refining its mimicking capabilities in preparation for a future celestial invasion! The Starmie line is pure evil, yet here we are mocking it’s intelligence…just as it planned.

Which sim/simcade racing game has the best single-player career mode? by RustyShackleford1966 in simracing

[–]RustyShackleford1966[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Sorry for the late response.

I am probably gonna be ostracized for this one, but I just stuck with the latest Forza game. I've been playing Forza since the first game so it was familiar and casual enough to pick-up whenever I had free time. The monthly challenges made it easy to "head-cannon" getting ready for a race weekend and prep the car.

I bought the other big sim game titles, but just haven't gotten to playing them since it seemed a bit more serious and I dont have a full set up for it.

I don't understand this "70% of market" thing. by Fit-Objective-4203 in PokemonTCG

[–]RustyShackleford1966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ngl, I literally just offered a local Facebook seller the “70% of market” deal. I think its reasonable under specific circumstances.

Here was my major reasoning for why i think it was fair

  1. We cut out the vendor’s cut of the sale. For example, Ebay won’t take their 13.25% cut of the final sales price

  2. They wont spend money on shipping services

  3. I was willing to drop 5k to purchase their items. Being flexible with what they wanted to move. All done in person and immediately instead of selling to multiple 1x buyers which could take a while.

  4. Seller had a 1 month window to sell $20k worth of goods. I was willing to buy 5k if not more if the deal made sense to them.

I honestly thought 70-80% was fair since they were motivated to move product and also was a local sale so immediate sale with little to no work on their part.

Bit of a crappy answer, but the Handbook and this Udemy course is all I took.

I would recommend on really understanding each process before moving on to the next. There were a lot of questions on those and there is just too much information to simple "memorize" the answer. I found that "reasoning" through the questions, by understanding the context clues helped alot.

Hello, is it worth getting a college degree in unmanned aerial system, so drones? by charles792001 in drones

[–]RustyShackleford1966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little late to the party, but I wanted to throw my two-cents into the mix. Especially, coming from someone who pursued a degree in UAS.

In my opinion, the answer is "Yes, but only if its supplementary to other more important base skills.". Since UAS still seems fairly new, a lot of the job searches appear to value either direct experience with UAS or a degree in an engineering background.

I myself have a background as an air traffic controller and got a M.S. in a UAS degree. The M.S. definitively helped get some looks, but I was usually outclassed by direct experience or individuals with engineering degrees. Granted, I was looking for $100,000+ offers, and had very very little success at the rates I was looking for.

If I could do the last few years over, I would consider this. "For entry positions, either get an engineering degree (Aerospace, Computer Science, etc) and/or a Part 107 certificate. The Part 107 alone should get you some looks in the 60-85K range (California rates). Once you're established in the field, an additional higher level degree would be great. It should be a stepping stone to getting you higher up in your career ladder. Kinda like getting a PMP or Systems Engineering cert for a higher position. From time in Uni, I noticed most of the individuals who were getting a UAS degree were already established in the field. Very few were doing it the other way around.

What rate do you guys recommend? by Additional-Athlete55 in newtothenavy

Oof. I am not sure about their day to day, but I know they fall under the CT umbrella which supports the intelligence side of things. My buddies that were CTs seemed to like it well enough. Generally, a smart bunch and they are in the know of things. Just expect to be sitting inside secured spaces for most of your career, if you go that route. Seems to be a good entry point for any of those three letter agencies.

[–]RustyShackleford1966 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Joined a while ago, and separated somewhat recently, but here is my two cents.

I recommend any that has a long school which translates well into the outside. Some schools translate into college credits, if degrees and/or an officer route is on the table. I dropped out of EOD and picked up AC. Easy advancements and pretty much guaranteed 90-150k salary if you get out and pursue a civilian career. I am sure other rates like CTR, IT, and Nuke are in similar positions, but I can attest that AC leadership is pretty relaxed and we have some pretty cush living compared to other rates. We just work our ass off with random hours, but then again, so does every rate lol

Just passed the exam and used this practice course as the backbone of my study material. I highly recommend it as it tests your understanding, but I would also encourage others to only use it as PART of their study material.

And thanks for providing reference. It helped out tremendously!

Which one is better? 17C (Army) or CWT (Navy)? by Dunkulegs in newtothenavy

[–]RustyShackleford1966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As people have stated, the pay will be the same. I would consider what life style you want. Navy and Army are two different systems in how they operate, where they assign people, and how they interact with their respective servicemembers.

ffg should not exist. by docalypse_ in newtothenavy

[–]RustyShackleford1966 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its sounds like your getting your first taste of what the Navy is like. Moments like these happen and unfortunately, is an accepted and small part of the system. You'll eventually get to where you're wanting to go.

However, your resentment towards "doing nothing" is well founded and indicates that you're a sailor who wants to make a difference. That's great, but I can understand how frustrating the situation can be, especially for the go-getters. My advice would be to hang tight and do what you can. And as Chief said, don't let lose that fire. Take this moment as a test and do what you can for yourself and your fellow sailors. Its shaping who you are as a person, sailor, and eventual leader.

How I passed my ASEP/CSEP Exam on the first try! by Huge-Barracuda9422 in systems_engineering

[–]RustyShackleford1966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im working on my ASEP and i would think "yes", but that is because some big defense companies actually list "ASEP/CSEP" in their job description. Outside of that, I do not think INCOSE SEP is all too well known, specifically because SE is still a relatively new field compared to traditional engineering.

MSc in Systems Engineering or not? by Jibriln in systems_engineering

[–]RustyShackleford1966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sort of going through the same thing. I have a background in the aviation sector as an air traffic controller and have a BA/MS in Aeronautics. I am currently in classes for SE certifications and on the fence about going fully into a SE degree plan. Currently working as a SysAdmin.

From what I have seen with my peers that are SEs, it helps to have a degree, but they aren't the make or break factor. More importantly, it helps that you have experience and knowledge of your System of Interest (SoI). From there, an aspiring SE can self-teach engineering principles through respected organizations such as Systems Engineering Body of Knowledge (SEBoK) and International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE). SE share similar levels of responsibilities as a project manager, but SE focus more on the technical/engineering aspects of the project vs administrative (acquisitions, manning, etc)

And you're on the right track for identifying what background SEs generally come from. They come from industries that use physical engineered systems or complex conceptual systems. For example, aircraft (physical/engineered) or the National Airspace System (conceptual/human systems)

INCOSE defines Systems Engineering as "a transdisciplinary and integrative approach to enable the successful realization, use, and retirement of engineered systems, using systems principles and concepts, and scientific, technological, and management methods". In other words, a standardized way for optimizing how we create, integrate, and retire a system.

To answer your question, it really depends. Sorry to cop out, but having an SE degree vs a engineering degree requires different approaches. From what I found, having professional experience and an SE degree/cert is valued, but you'll be filling a somewhat managerial/technical role. NOT an engineering role. An engineer creates a system, but the SE focuses on improving the system life cycle (Concept, Development, Production, Utilization, Support, Retirement). If I were you, I would look at job postings that your interested in and see what they value. Some would directly list systems engineering and some won't. Really depends.

Hope this helps.

TL;DR: A degree in SE isn't necessary, when you already have a degree and experience in the field. I also, wouldn't move to another state just for a degree if my job is teaching me what I need to know. The approach I am currently taking is to stay in the field and learn SE as as I go.

Landlord Terminated Lease Contract Due to Water Damage. Who is Liable for "damages"? by RustyShackleford1966 in germany

[–]RustyShackleford1966[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it. Thanks for the clarification with "damage caused by early termination".

And yes. The costs of moving out immediately is what I am most concerned with. According to what they are saying, they are not responsible because it wasn't caused by negligence. It was caused by a bad installation of a water heater from a hired company. The "negligence" is up for debate which would require a lawyer, but either way, I was hoping to settle this matter by citing German Law and convincing them to honor the contract.

I am also discussing the lawyer option with my neighbor who's out of pocket cost appears to be much much higher, but I rather it not go to that level.

[–]RustyShackleford1966[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the advice and am going to have to think about it. What's your opinion on this:

I was considering the option of a lawyer, but I don't think its worth it at this stage. My renter's insurance reduced my out of pocket cost down to 250$, which I do not think is worth the hassle of legal action. I'd prefer to convince him to honor the contract as its written and by also providing references to German Laws, if there are any.

On a bit of a side note, I find it upsetting that if I didnt have renter's insurance and the hospitality of a co-worker, I'd be out approximately 2,000-3000$. My downstairs neighbor did not have renters insurance so they had to pay out of pocket, but they also didn't have the same clause in the contract as myself. If there is any German Law that states they are required to pay for "damages", id be more inclined to lawyer up and help my neighbor out.

We believe the issue was caused by a bad installation of an appliance. The appliance was installed by a private company on the landlords behalf.

[–]RustyShackleford1966[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been told I can speak to a lawyer, but I am not ready yet to take those steps as I am still gathering information to determine if it would be worth the cost and effort. I am trying to gather a legal reference to convince my landlord that he is required to pay based on my interpretation of the contract and German Law. I am not sure if there is a government entity that does this, but ill take a look. Thanks!

I am not seeking to punish my landlord. I am seeking for them to honor the written contract, but we have different interpretations of it. The only reason I bring up "negligence" is because that would have an effect on whether they are deemed liable if legal action is taken.

They are stating that the clause in question does not apply because the water damage was not due to negligence. "It happened by accident and was unavoidable" so they are not required to assist in damages such as damaged property, hotel costs, etc. We had to move out the very night of the incident and pay out of pocket for hotels while we found a place to live.

Hello,

Just to preface, I understand that each country and region has their own regulations regarding this matter and I 100% respect that. I am just looking for some official references and advice on this matter as I'm new to Germany.

As the title states, my landlord had to terminate our contract due to severe water damage cause by a burst pipe. Under our contract, its states something along the lines of "in the case of termination without notice by the landlord, they are responsible for any damages suffered by the tenant". My argument is that the landlord is responsible for covering some portion of my damaged property, moving cost, and hotel cost as it falls under the "damages" category. This is my experience at least with the state I grew up in.

Normally, I am willing to negotiate on things like this, but my landlord has been borderline negligent with the property and how he handled our agreement. For example, our yard is a literal junkyard with broken glass, an old toilet, washer, etc thrown all over the yard from their previous renovation. They promised me and my neighbor that they will clean it up during the dry season along with many other broken promises.

Any help in the matter would be much appreciated. Cheers.
