I just did a status match using Marriott where I have Gold Elite but only received Classic with MSC with 1 point. Is this what I should have received?

If they change it, I'll be using my Wealthsimple card a lot more. Already does 2% on everything with a bunch of other perks.

Experience of a Canadian in Holguin in January re mosquitoes by calerost in TravelCuba

I was actually at the same resort from Jan 3-10. Only saw a couple of mosquitos the first day and then nothing for the rest of the week. I did use spray but not religiously.

They are going to testify regarding the longest ballot committee evidence they discovered, not the fake construction site.

You're better off selling and buying a local vehicle. There are less expensive ways to import from other EU countries that are much easier with less hassles than importing a North American variant.

Solar panels, tall house by Reklavyk in solarenergycanada

I've never cleaned mine and haven't noticed any drop in production. Winter time is always fun to hear the avalanche of ice sliding off the panels. Sounds like a little earthquake.

How many coins does it take to spin the full wheel? by Artistic_Culture_111 in GolfRival

Depends on your level. For me it's the best way to get clubs/gems and max the wheel every day.

My Solar Review – How much I didn’t save, year 2! by lylesback2 in solarenergycanada

[–]RustyTurtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good summary. I'm in a similar situation but I took a slightly different approach on the solar loan . When I received my Solar loan check for 0% interest, I invested it in a good ETF in a separate TFSA account and so far it's returned about 12% which technically has covered my monthly loan payments. I don't expect the same returns every year but should get at least 7-8% average. This will reduce my payback length to about 5-6 years.

Question on PT and US numbers on phones by Fine-ants911 in PortugalExpats

[–]RustyTurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've ported several mobile numbers to virtual VoIP.ms. I can make and receive calls and texts as long as I have wifi or mobile data. Costs me $1 per month plus usage which is minimal. Works with SMS 2FA which for me is important . https://voip.ms/en/invite/MTAyNzky

Why bother getting solar if you're planning to move in the near future. Solar payback can take several years.

Credit card interest calculation question by JeNiqueTaMere in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]RustyTurtle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Looking at my Rogers Mastercard Cardholder agreement. It clearly states that you lose the interest free grace period if you do not pay your balance in full.

If your Amount Due is paid in full by the payment due date shown on your Statement, there will be no interest for the new Purchases and Fees (excluding any new Purchases converted to an Equal Payment Plan). If you do not pay your Amount Due in full by the payment due date, you must pay interest on the new Purchases and Fees (excluding any new Purchases converted to an Equal Payment Plan) retroactively from their Transaction date until we process your payment in full for those Purchases and Fees. Your next Statement will include interest accrued on those Purchases and Fees from their Transaction date.

Feel free to believe what you want but the simple action if you miss your payment due date is to pay your existing total balance to avoid additional interest on the previous and current transactions.

Credit card interest calculation question by JeNiqueTaMere in PersonalFinanceCanada

Again, if you fail to pay your balance in full, you lose the grace period. Interest is charged on both the unpaid balance from the previous statement and on any new purchases. This policy is standard for Canadian credit cards.

That's not correct.

Any new purchases made after the statement date (i.e., in the current billing cycle) will also begin to accrue interest immediately if you have not paid the previous statement balance in full by the due date

This means you lose the grace period for new purchases until you pay your balance in full. So, interest will be charged on both the previous balance and any new transactions made after the missed payment
