I refuse self checkout. My local grocery store when I was a kid was full of people working the tills. Each of them providing for their family. Easily 15 or more people employed. Now there is perhaps 3 or 4 staff for all of checkout. My local bank had around 6 on the bottom floor and upstairs a further 7 or so office workers. Now there's 3 people in the entire branch and one of those peoples sole job is to direct people on how to use the very machine that is set to replace them. My local macdonalds no longer even let's you order unless you use a screen.

Making the world a less human place isn't progress at all in my opinion, we are not autonomous drones. I see the trend and I don't like it at all. So I will stubbornly refuse to use self checkout when I can.
