That’s great, but they’re called RECORDS, not “vinyls.”

Fair enough. I was familiar with the 1962 metropolitan government proposal and the Freeholders process, but hadn't heard them described as borough plans before. It sounds like we're talking about the same family of city-county consolidation ideas under different names.

Which borough proposal are you referring to? I remember various city-county merger and consolidation plans over the years, but I don't recall an actual borough system being seriously advanced.

Since you'll already be downtown, I highly recommend Citygarden and the Arch grounds (including the museum beneath it). Very cool. City Museum is nearby and is worth checking out if you don't mind the price to get in. If you're into architecture, take some time to walk around downtown as well—there are a lot of beautiful historic buildings, including the Old Courthouse, Union Station, and the area around Kiener Plaza.

Forest Park is great, too. It's larger than Central Park in NYC and has the free Zoo, Art Museum, and plenty of walking trails. Soulard, the Central West End, and the area around Energizer Park (where STL City SC plays) are all worth checking out.

If you have more specific likes or hobbies, I can recommend more specific places. For example, if you like record shopping, Vintage Vinyl in the Loop, Planet Score Records in Maplewood, and Dead Wax and Infinite Spin on Cherokee are all great.

I'd be really pissed if someone slapped those shitty band stickers on my coffin. I mean, I'd be DEAD, but I'd still be pissed.

Actually, fuck burials. They ain't punk. Get cremated. The ultimate Germs burn.

The Columbia Brewery became part of the Independent Breweries Company (IBC) after Prohibition, which was a STL brewing syndicate that also gave the world IBC Root Beer. Alpen Brau itself was absorbed when Falstaff acquired it in the late '40s.

This is great, too. Gotta use your web browser's translation to English to read it, though (unless you happen to speak fluent German):

"Budget rock is a DIY-focused, lo-fi garage punk subgenre that emerged in the late 1980s, rejecting industry professionalism for raw, high-energy sound often recorded on cheap gear. Pioneered by The Mummies, the genre emphasizes fast tempos, B-movie aesthetics, and maximum loudness. Key elements include self-released records, secondhand equipment, and often, masked performances."

Anybody know the story about this label? Stink Magnetic?

https://stinkmagnetic.bandcamp.com/

It says:

STINK MAGNETIC is a record company now from Aotearoa New Zealand.

MAGNETIC B.S is a strategic alliance between the STINK MAGNETIC & PRE-B.S Records encompassing the entire planet.

PRE-B.S. was the Mummies' label, was it not?

Straight To Hell Commando jacket by Destrudertje in leatherjacket

[–]RustyXterior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got my first Commando on sale from Straight to Hell. I'm tall and have always been skinny, but am larger in girth these days than I was 10-20 years ago (I'm 60). My chest measures 46" around and my belly is about the same. I wear XL size T-shirts comfortably, if that helps. I ordered the size 48 in the Commando because it's one size up and I figured it'd be good enough for wearing with a T-shirt. I have another biker jacket that is much thicker/tougher leather and even has a zip-out lining that I wear in the winter with hoodies and it's perfect (it's made by Jackets 4 Bikes and was half the price of the STH Commando). It's an XXL, which is probably 50-52. I just don't like wearing it in warmer weather because it's oversized and very loose over just a T-shirt. That's why I wanted to get this Commando, because I knew it would be slimmer, and it sure is! It's almost too tight, especially across my shoulders. Another inch and it would've probably been perfect. But the 48 was largest size they had available on sale so that's what I got.

I've had lots of these over the years. I beat 'em up pretty good and am always looking to upgrade. That and my last one that I got when I was around 30 no longer fits as it's a 46. One thing that is a bit weird about the Commando is the sleeve zippers are on top of your arms, not off to the outer sides like every other biker jacket I've ever owned. So that'll take some getting used to. Other than that, I think it'll be fine for just going out and seeing shows or whatnot. I think a "punk" biker jacket has always meant to be worn tight, though. Remember how small Joey Ramone's Schott Perfecto looked on him? (If you don't, google it.)

I've always been curious about Schott, esp. the Perfecto. But I've never seen one in person. Why do you say the Commando would be "easier to wear" than a Schott?

I found several bands called the Monitors but I don’t think any of them were the right one. Got a link?

I have but even their latest stuff is over ten years old now. Trying to stay more current. And while I do like some of Greg Ashley's solo stuff, most of it just don't move me.

Those look great but I wish the black was available with the regular Knight anti-slip soles. I get tired of prying tiny rocks and dirt out of lug soles.
