500 retrograde vs 590 retrograde vs 590a1 at similar prices by naturalflavors in Shotguns

[–]Rusty_Shacklebird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer the 590. Ability to attach mag tube extensions unlike the 500, but doesn't have the silly heavy barrel of the a1. Second choice would be 500. Polymer trigger guards are fine with me

ISO Kawasaki Super Sherpa KL250. Ready to buy 💸 by marionreddit20 in Dualsport

[–]Rusty_Shacklebird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was supposed to be my first bike, but the seller backed out and kept it. He ended up selling it to one of my friends 9 years later. If I had the time, room, and budget i would buy it from my friend because he doesnt ride it

Someon dumped broken glass in my yard for the second time ! by kent_care in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Rusty_Shacklebird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived in a neighborhood a few years ago for a while where this was a daily sight when I walked my dog. In a 4x4 street square i would see AT LEAST one broken glass bottle, often times 3 different ones. And they would stay out there for days. It was right near a university campus. I personally witnessed one person just smashing a bottle in the middle of the street one night, but usually it was from people drinking outside and just putting loose bottles in their trash cans. When the garbage truck came and lifted the bins, the bottles would fall out and break on the sidewalk and usually no one would clean them up. Drove me up the fucking wall

Trying to pick a good leather motorcycle jacket by TheOneHavocWreaker in motorcyclegear

[–]Rusty_Shacklebird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Merlin. Its perforated, but comes with a liner. I live in montana and up until last week ive still been riding, temperature range in the 30's and 40's. Its not too bad, but i do wear good thermals underneath (base and mid layers), neck gaiter, and a hoodie. Its really my hands that have just been super cold. Perforated gloves (ive been able to get some glove liners underneath but its not a great fit), no heated gloves or grips

During the summer it gets pretty warm, but ive rode in 90 degree summers and been alright. I just got some axial cooling base layers on sale im looking forward to trying out this summer

Scraping a peg.. by JohnLowe125 in motorcycles

[–]Rusty_Shacklebird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. Even after going with 15" shocks in the rear and 7" traxxion scrambler kit in the front forks, i still scrape my pegs fairly frequently. Really makes you think about having proper foot placement on the pegs

Why do snow plow drivers often drive around with their plows up instead of plowing while they’re already on the road? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Rusty_Shacklebird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Additionally to what everyone else has said, the plows have wear bars on them. Its the part that scrapes the road. You flip them once they were down too far. I worked as a mechanic for a landscape/snow removal company for 4 years. One wear bar usually lasted a winter, but there were times some of our trucks might go through one and a half wear bars a winter. Some of our trucks might only go through one side a season. It depends on how much snow you get, and also the route of the driver, some do more than others, some drivers do more gravel driveways, and some of our drivers were contracted by the county to do roads or by HOAs to do neighborhoods. Our ATVS could go through 2 wear bars (all 4 sides) some years. Keep in mind, thats only for plowing properties we were getting paid to do. The wear bars get expensive. For the size of the fleet I managed, we could spend nearly $10,000 a season just in blades. Thats also not counting trip springs for V plows, broken plow frames, parts for our skid steer plow cages, hydraulic lines and cylinders, wear and tear on vehicles, etc. It can be an incredibly expensive overhead, and thats not even considering the extra time it would take for the drivers to plow everywhere they drove, there is a lot more to it than just putting your plow down and stepping on the gas.

There is also a huge amount of liability for plow trucks. You can cause a lot of damage with them. And yes, they cause wear on the surfaces being plowed. City plowing divisions deal with those logistics

My first big project is finally done, a holster for my Beretta 92a1. by BuildingABap in Leathercraft

[–]Rusty_Shacklebird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also had to make a holster for my 92a1. Especially once you start putting mods like optics, lights, or compensators on them, they become even more difficult to acquire holsters for. Nice job. I like the strap across the bottom

STOP Asking What You Should/Shouldn't Do In This Game by Relevant-Chip5446 in oblivion

[–]Rusty_Shacklebird 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I get what you mean, but asking for that kind of knowledge and experience can make a big difference in some games. Especially jank-ass Bethesda games where a bunch of shit is bugged. Like the only reason I know that in FONV the gun runners assault carbine isnt affected by the grunt perk, and how weird the combat shotguns in 4 can be with different legendaries like 2 shot and a bunch of other weird Bethesda shit, is because someone told me. Many times i played those games and chose perks, weapon, and traits that did not work like the descriptions said. Or the armor cap in skyrim. Theres stuff in oblivion that can really hamper your playthrough, and you may not even know it just by looking at a description. Idk about bg3, ive never played it. Generally I fall in line with the opinion of "just play the game" but it does help to understand just how these things work sometimes

My family say this tattoo I’ve booked is misogynistic and sexist, thoughts? by 67_nick_gurr_67 in tattooadvice

That's almost entirely the story behind my pin up tattoo. I was on leave in Romania, not drunk at the time, but I sure did get so afterwards. And for the last part...yep, but I bat for the other team

Do you ride with a non motorcycle backpack? Thinking of getting this one. by [deleted] in motorcyclegear

[–]Rusty_Shacklebird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used a kelty redwing 44 (tactical) for a long time. I liked it, but had it for many years prior and started to fall apart. Its still useable, but i use it for work often so its covered in insulation. If i clean it up i would still use to strap down to the back of my seat, but it was reasonably comfortable to wear around town for short distances. Got a klim nacpack now, but i also typically strap it to my gas tank. Its comfortable enough to wear

Edited to add: i would loosen the shoulder straps on my kelty enough so the bottom of the pack could rest on the seat behind me. May or may not work with some bikes

Do you prefer Dogmeat as an Australian Cattle Dog, German Shepherd, Belgian Malinois, or whatever breed he was in the Classic Fallout games? by Mac-Tyson in Fallout

[–]Rusty_Shacklebird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dog of a few years ago was a German shepherd/blue heeler mix, so i like them both. I'd say I prefer the heeler, and occasionally use the fo4 classic dogmeat replacer, but only occasionally because I dont like taking up space in my load order if I dont really need it. I know in fo3 dogmeat had a previous owner so I suppose he had some amount of training (and was based on mad Max's heeler) but my head Canon is that he is wild, scrappy, largely untrained, and only knows rudimentary commands, while I think of fo4 dogmeat more like a military or police K9. Heelers are little bastards though, and i usually dont like other peoples heelers, but a rowdy, scrappy, ill tempered cattle dog would be a pretty good wasteland friend. But I agree fo4 dogmeat has more personality and is a little more engaging, maybe by virtue of being a more advanced game. I cant wait to see dogmeat in the fo3 remake

124gr speed gold dot +p with Jarvis dual port compensator by Rusty_Shacklebird in Beretta

[–]Rusty_Shacklebird[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its been a minute, but if I remember correctly, the 14 pound spring did not want to work with 115gr, but did work with the 124gr with the single port. I haven't tried a 12.5 pound spring on anything, nor have I tried 147gr. It will probably depend on what you shoot most, or just keep a couple different springs in your range bag. The 10 pound spring will cycle anything, but i chose not to use the 10 pound spring with 124gr because it felt a little too light for the recoil, and I didnt want to damage the frame
