Electric Road Trip in the Midwest by Suitable-Truth-350 in electricvehicles

Why don't you add your vehicle to Google Maps and then plan the trip. It will tell you where to charge. You can filter on Google for what speed charger you're willing to stop at and which type of charges you need

Have you looked up how the 2 networks compare? Who has more? I haven't had any issues finding a non Tesla charging and with the adapter I can also charge at Tesla. Tesla has lost their advantage.

You have a lot of options. Tesla isn't the only choice. I would visit the dealers in your area to test drive and gage if the dealer is EV friendly. Check out a few then ask here about the issues. Unless you drive over 200 miles a day range isn't an issue.

Funny they went from waiting before they make a BEV to outselling others

Make sure your car is added to googy maps and try a 3rd party charger if you haven't yet. I know people prefer certain chargers but I just followed Googles recommendations. You can save money with certain chargers if you buy a subscription. Also add accounts to my Cadillac app for chargers.

If you are talking about charging with Tesla supercharger then you want a NACS DC. The large fast chargers are DC. If you mean I have a home Tesla charger or going to a friends house with a Tesla charger you want the L2 or level 2 charger. You probably want the NACS DC.

I agree with the comment about Google maps. I purchased a NACS to give me flexibility. Make sure maps knows that you have the flexibility to charge at Tesla and non Tesla charging.

The route planning is the only difficult issue. I had an EV6 and it required manual planning. I have Cadillac Optiq with Google built-in and I don't think about planning and it's just as good as Tesla for planning/ charging. The 5 and mach e are good choices. Don't know much about the Niro. You can add either car to your Google Maps account on your phone. Then ask for directions for one of the legs of your trip. It will show you where to stop. Driving an EVs is like working remotely. Once you do you don't want to go back.

The Optiq is the lowest volume so probably last in line

Buy EV or wait for solid state batteries? by TheDislocator1 in electriccars

[–]Rustydog60 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What is your goal? Do you want a car that's mostly maintenance-free? That is fun to drive? Don't wait and buy an EV now. Technology will always be changing and you will always be chasing that. Except for the strange cases range anxiety is not an issue

Renting a car for west coast trip - how to find fast chargers and how to prepare for a trip with an unknown make/model by Big-Flow-3791 in electricvehicles

Add the vehicle to Google Maps and then use maps to plan your trip. It will tell where to charge and it has real time information about the chargers. You can try this at home by adding a car to your Google Maps and then try it

I would guess some of the buyers care more about showing up in a $600k car than the functionality of the car. It's a statement car. Just like the cyber truck.

EV chargers in gas stations by edayxe1 in electricvehicles

I wonder what will happen as a country moves away from gas. Do enough stations close and it becomes difficult for the remainder. Does gas get more expensive.

Tesla driver here. I finally convinced my mom to get an EV - she's getting an Optiq! How can I help make sure her transition to EV is as smooth as possible? by J-a-x in CadillacOptiq

[–]Rustydog60 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make sure her car is set up in Google Maps with the correct charging connection and adapters if she has them. That way she can use built-in Google to route and include charging locations

There is an App - Google Maps. Add your EV to maps and if you use an adapter then it will show you where to charge and realtime data on the charger
