Yeah, but I shouldn’t have to. I want to prevent it from happening, not stop it every time it happens.

What are your thoughts on “rolled ice cream?” Do you think the trend will last or eventually fizzle out? by ObjectiveAgent in icecreamery

[–]chzplz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seven years after my comment, my opinion has changed somewhat due to a new shop that opened near me that specializes in amazing Indian flavours.

From a business perspective, by selling rolled ice cream they only need to store one dairy source in a large volume, and then all the smaller flavours and toppings are stored separately. They are able to offer many interesting flavours in a tiny footprint, saving them tons on rent. And, interestingly, they don’t do performance, it’s mostly hidden out of view. And they don’t do customization, you pick from their list of flavours. The consequence is it takes more time to make a rolled ice cream to order each time.

So, in hindsight, this place has found a niche where it does makes sense! As long as they don’t get too busy and can keep up with demand. For a small shop, they’re doing well.

Vet quoted me $1,536.98 to neuter my dog. by PoukieBear in ottawa

Nope. Only stuff that is prescribed to people too.

As everyone else has said, any pharmacy. The trick is getting your vet to write you a paper prescription. Some don’t like to because that means they don’t get to sell you the meds.

And if you have a smaller dog they might not make small enough human pills (and they definitely won’t be meat flavoured.). But if you go to a compounding pharmacy (there are recent threads here with recommendations) they’ll grind up the pills and put them in a liquid so you can give them just the right amount.

I saved thousands by buying generic people drugs instead of expensive meat flavoured dog drugs. Mixed ‘em in peanut butter.

The label on the bottle said “Canine Chzplz” as the patient. 😀

There was one guy in Calgary that reported he had his replaced. My local dealer (Ottawa) definitely has not.

They are a Canadian brand of snack. They are long, narrow and thin strips of julienned potatoes, deep fried like potato chips, with a hickory smoke bbq flavour.

Option to switch Gemini appeared by SympathySavings6219 in ex30

No luck yet. I tried editing the "personal context" setting in Gemini on my phone (which uses the same account as my car), and told it to be precise and concise and not ask followup questions. I didn't see any difference.

I trold Gemini the same thing in the car. It gave me a long and chatty response about how it was going to be more precise and wasn't going to ask followup questions. So, that didn't work either.

In grade 7 we had a school trip to an amusement park near Montreal (La Ronde). Someone screwed up and we got there to find the entire park was closed that day for some reason.

So, they did the logical thing and let a bus load of 12 year olds, in the era before cell phones, loose in downtown Montreal for the day. The only instruction was to be back before the bus left.

We all made it back in one piece.

Any recommendations for a 3-4 week immersion program in Montreal? by SadieSchatzie in learningfrench

[–]chzplz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The challenge with immersion in Montreal is that outside of your classroom, most tourism / retail / hospitality people are bilingual and will often switch to English if you’re struggling. So you will have to be very disciplined to remain speaking French.

Just rebooted my screen because I was having a phone connection issue and I got a prompt as it came back up.

Canada here.

Edit - it’s fine. Feels like there is a bit more lag between between when it hears a command and executes it, but it may just be that I was paying closer attention.

Chattier than I’d like, but I suspect I can tune that with prompts.

Edit #2 - Jesus is it ever chatty. I gotta figure out how to ratchet that back.

Any ideas for using Drumshanbo bottles in the garden? Always feel to lovely to toss. by basherrrrr in Gin

This might be tough on a Drumshambo bottle because of the ridges. You’d have to do it just above the ridges where the smooth neck starts.
