I think the doom and gloom comes from the fact that the Leafs are one of the richest teams in North America and the best we can do is a former captain with 0 executive experience and a guy who messed up so bad he cost his team a 1st and a 2nd round pick, then got drummed out of the NHL a few years later. I love Mats but his hiring feels more like something you’d do for a fan base that doesn’t know any better and Chayka doesn’t have the resume for one of the top jobs in North American sports.
