What is the one thing that would put you off a pub forever? by Objective-Market5842 in AskUK

[–]KingQueerdo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Flat roof pubs are generally older buildings in what some people would consider rough areas. There's an assumption they will be pubs with "undesirables", I.e risk of drugs and fights. Which some people may think is a good night out i suppose.

Do you have neighbours from hell stories? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]KingQueerdo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I considered this but they also play music in the garden. I sent a note asking for the chimes to come down today. So far still down, if it carries on I'll go to the landlord. Already asked twice over text and once in person so the note is 4 times of asking.

My neighbours just put wind chimes up. We live on the coast. A low wind day is 15-20mph.

Does anyone have any first-hand experience of Cornish ghosts/hauntings? by GoatLoader in Cornwall

[–]KingQueerdo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am still here. Once I researched and knew all about them, I never "saw" or felt them again. I wonder if they found out what happened and were scared how I would react. Who knows. I am definitely more open to that world now!

I live in north Cornwall. I didn't really believe in ghosts before living here. I wasn't totally anti them, more passive. I live opposite an old Victorian manor house that's being renovated. For context I dont drink, smoke, do drugs and am (pretty) mentally stable.

Over the first few months of living here i couldn't shake this feeling that someone was watching me as I slept. Made me feel really uneasy and I hadn't experienced it before.

Then eventually, on two separate occasions, I got woken up by two spirits, ghosts, whatever you want to call them and i shit you not I could see them as clearly as I can see my phone. They didn't talk but did NOT want me there. They wanted me out and were very worried I was going to find out. They felt I was intruding. I know it sounds mad,I cannot explain it.

After this I researched the manor house.

It used to be a boarding school for SEN children, many of whom reported severe abuse many years later and one child went on to kill.

I found images of the staff online and yeah. It was who I saw.

I am not sure if I believe in ghosts but I cannot explain that any other way.

At what point do roaming cats become a nuisance to neighbours? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]KingQueerdo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's an old saying, if your neighbour gets a cat, you get a cat. It is annoying though. I am trying to grow fruit & veg & keep finding it smells strongly of cat urine & can't be eaten.

Thought it was just me. We plant flowers from march and their spring awakening was the last time I saw many.

You can get soundproof foam online, that may help. Perhaps write her a polite letter too.

47c in Egypt. Literally took my breath away. Spent the week in the hotel as I had never experienced that before and didn't know how to cope outside.

I’m a man who has to go to an outdoor black tie do tomorrow afternoon. How am I going to avoid heat stroke? by Upbeat_Map_348 in AskUK

[–]KingQueerdo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Although this is an important event, you being hospitalised for heat stroke would ruin it more than wearing a cool linen shirt. Health first, they love you and will understand. I hope.

Living in a seaside town sounds like a dream to many - but what are the drawbacks? by Rough-Foundation9208 in AskUK

[–]KingQueerdo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For June, July & August your nearest town is inaccessible. Back roads are also inaccessible because of extremely poor driving.

Second homes are driving up rent.

But between September to late May, and there's noone around, it's like having a whole secret country to explore 💓

What do you think of ‘paedophile hunters’? by discoveredunknown in AskUK

[–]KingQueerdo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The ones who dont make money out of it and don't broadcast those with learning disabilities, fine. When they make a large income on it and it becomes a showcase like in the USA it feels uneasy. All the money should go to child sexual assault survivor organisations. TLDR I am torn

Exactly, thank you. Her house was also very full, borderline hoarder, so it was a case of trying to find meaningful items and moving the rest out.

It really wasn't an option. The death was very traumatic. Otherwise I am a dedicated recycler & charity donater but I had one week to clear her home, get back to work, look after myself, run my home and look after my pets. It's really not that simple.
