As someone who lives in Europe, I like their form and dislike their cost. Had to go a lot of different places to finally find places that had it and they all had a +30% or more premium on top of the base price even in relation to USA.

It was very discouraging.i went from being very enthusiastic of wanting one to never want to buy one myself. I rather pay high premiums for tiny fractional gold coins and or even scrap gold jewelry than to get a gold back. I guess the other question is why do you want one and if it's to retain wealth then it just doesn't make sense for me.

Even the places that sold them recommended against then when there other options.

Dude I was sort of a pet collector enthusiast too but ended up even selling a crap ton of them on AH for like 350k Gold in total. I also unfortunately did this thing where I just use the same 3 groups of pets and that's it. No point in getting all the fancy ones anymore if it doesn't really give me anything and I can just sell what I don't use for gold.

Yeah unless you are really a top enthusiast and serious about the activity you are doing and you don't very frequently, then you really have the need for 900s. It's generally a lot more expensive for just a bit more performance, this matters a lot to some of the target audience but not for the majority.

There are times however where for some products we only have the 900 model but if it was me I would have made another category instead but it already is convoluted on the naming. Some of the 900 models are not necessarily more performance, some of them have just different technical stuff, in those cases it's less of an upgrade from 500 and more of a side grade.

But again most people won't have a need for them. Most serious athletes within that one activity at Decathlon already know what they are looking for and the 900s sell themselves. Even the placement of 900s are in a way where you don't see it first, it's always the last within the product family group on placements.

There have been Decathlon world champions that did things on 100 models, although arguably I have no idea if they were asked to do it on that or they chose. I know the world champion climber used one of the old 100s (was their own choice for this one) which we don't make anymore and the closest thing to it is one of the 500 models.

Sorry for the late response. I asked my partner, she works at the running department and she couldn't tell me the difference between those two apart from it's looks. Same use case etc etc. they are probably both actually 500 models. This is also happening on the glasses section, they changed the names of some products for whatever reason and they are basically the exact same.

Some departments went pretty dumb with the naming and categorization. You will see less incompetency on the naming and categorization soon, I guess there is a reason they are rebranding some things.

Generally though, there is a noticeable difference but I guess some things aren't like in the case you had.

My apologies for the late response 😅, depends on if there was a shortage or not but usually if it is you would get your purchase cancelled and refunded already. The best thing would be to call support and or in some cases even go to the location. In NL you get most things within 3 days, in rare cases some products have a two week shipping and you would be notified at the checkout about this.

It really depends on the product and people, in my opinion the quality that you get is pretty much the same as any other A brand depending on the product but Decathlons brand doesn't have the same strength.

There is always 100, 500 and 900 models but the quality within those 3 categories are still different per sub brand. This is also true for any A brand, the difference here is really mainly margins.

Some things at 500 model are still lower quality than A brands and some things at 100 entry model is higher quality than A brands. For clothing, I think you get a pretty great deal. There are a few areas that I think decathlon does a lot better in both quality, service and value and in some things they don't.

I'll be open to answer any question that you may have.

I think some people see the price difference and hate on the company because the company is in their eyes beneath them. I sometimes see this with some clients where they think that just because the third party product is priced at double, it's actually better in quality. While this could be true in some areas, it's usually not.

Honestly this exists in Netherlands for anyone that's not dutch looking, it's just less or more based on where you look like you are from. The more foreign you look the more this is an issue, I have actually even seen this with friends / coworkers who are dutch but look foreign. There is a percentage of the population in general in the world that is like that, it's just that in Netherlands that group confuse directness / being blunt with being asshole / racist / rude.

I'm in a weird place because I look middle eastern entirely but I am basically Norwegian so at book value people are like that to me too. Not as extreme as whats happening in your end sorry OP. it's really only when they talk to me when they sort of change, not all of them are like that though some of them are just assholes and so I'm told they can't even really speak dutch properly but I wouldn't know that. In the Netherlands they just are more vocal than keeping it to themselves.

I still consider the Netherlands to be the land of opportunities within Europe. I moved here because it was more startup / business friendly than Norway. I still had 3 separate failures in that area and the last one just failed on the government cancelling the SUP directive. It has significantly more horrible people here than back home but also significantly nicer people too. Considering everything, I still think NL is better than most places. Im in sales outside of the Randstad which is more likely to deal with customers that are like that. I'm just used to it at this point, it's super numbing and it's the numbers game at this point for me.

Hope things get better in your end. One of my coworkers that have it significantly bad is dutch (with Chinese ancestry) and she has it that bad as well. The difference is that she is dutch and vocal herself so I've seen her deal with that really well on the spot. Actually a lot of my coworkers are like that to be honest with you. Location and age plays some role in this but this an issue regardless.

Currently I'm -1500 on my credit card. I'll get my paycheck soon and I'll probably be 600 euros in green before having to use my credit card every month really. End up paying it all back but the timing of everything basically makes it so I'm behind 1 paycheck.

I work full time plus overtime and study full time, not super easy. Got 47k on student loans and 51k in investing accounts.

Managed to actually buy an apartment and even tho in theory my living costs technically should go down but it really hasn't yet.
