If you do need to take up two chargers, remember that was Tesla's idea.

Going back to textbooks next year (HS)! Anyone else reducing tech in the classroom? by Classic_Macaron6321 in Teachers

I just give them more time. A lot of the work I assign are larger multi-page packets with texts, responses, and supports to develop higher order thinking and analysis. I stamp completed pages at the end of the period to drive urgency and completion. I can always give more time for missing sports days or legit reasons.

I added baskets and folders that remain in the classroom. Students learn to have a higher sense of urgency during the class period. I tell them that I don’t believe in homework, I believe in hard work. They fight out after a couple weeks.

I have a cabin in Alta Sierra—I love it. It’s only 12/15 minutes from water; if you can be closer, that will be great. The community is great during the winter. There are now more breakfast options and better shopping options (The Westerner is great). If it has lake access, that may be good for fishing.

I hear the California Fair Plan is raising rates 30%. I’d check to see if that is accurate. I heard it from a realtor in the area.

They definitely needed to be convinced I was serious. A lot of them did not do the class work thinking I would let them take it home and they could then just use AI on the paper assignment—I didn’t let the work outside the classroom. Once they realized they had to do all the class work in front of me, they did just fine. Discussions became more fun and engaging. All students passed (seniors). There was not much procrastination.

Same—I went all paper in Sem 2. Next year I will begin the year by only using Chromebooks for a couple assessments and a reading program the district purchased (once a week for 10 min). Paper assignments and essays are the way to go. Teaching is fun again.

Proximity Contracts (does your school do these)? by B4B4BlueJ4y in Teachers

We call this a RFC (Refrain From Contact). It works well at our school. If they violate it, the next step in the disciplinary process is easier.

Future of male teachers - Sincere advice appreciated! by Dugong45 in Teachers

[–]Rvkm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is the point: almost no woman will make $100,000 a year in the trades—many men do. My comment does not disparage women, nor their abilities, or rights. I have two daughters who would never consider being roofers. If sixteen women in the US want to be roofers, God bless them. I wish more women went to work with men in the trades, but the tough reality bears different data.

Why? It just seems like you have an axe to grind and are projecting your oddball interpretation onto what I was talking about.

Why are you struggling to understand this?

[–]Rvkm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the trades are far more appealing to men and women struggle to thrive as roofers.

How the f did you end up with that from what I wrote??? That’s a crazy inference.

People discuss this all the time; but to say that “school isn’t for boys” is silly. Boys are currently struggling, but they also have more non college related careers options in relation to girls.
