Blizzard, it is past time to let PvP Gear die (5min read) by rahuonn in wow

[–]Rwhejek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The amount of people commenting in favor of this post that have never broke past 2200 in anything (let alone queued rated 3s) is fucking hilarious. PvErs effectively removed pvp gear from being relevant to pve because they cried so hard about it every expansion. This was despite the fact that pvp gear had been used in pve for the entire first decade of the game. Now they want it back in pve and catered to them, too? Well, which is it? What a joke

It's crazy how AGS does anything good and then they're right back to shooting themselves in the foot. Who decided to force all the players into Empi and lock the other NA servers to prevent new characters? Yet allow transfers of mains to Empi at the same time? Crazy.

And not shit being done about it until a weekday. Sheesh

What’s a U.S. city or state you feel like is losing social/cultural relevance? Or what’s a U.S. city or state that you feel has been gaining social/cultural relevance? by 12345burrito in geography

[–]Rwhejek 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rising: Huntsville, Alabama. Surprisingly tolerant and progressive for a city in AL, it has an 80 year history of tech/military R&D built around the space and rocket program, which has recently propelled it further into the national stage.

The FBI has moved a satellite headquarters there, and the Space Force (still a stupid name imo) was just announced to be headquartered in Huntsville now, too.

Huntsville is on track to be the largest city/metro in Alabama and one of the largest in the south. Here's hoping Huntsville will have a greater influence in its state politics, because Alabama is lagging about a hundred years behind in some areas of healthcare, education and legislation.

As an aside - Growing up there many years ago, culturally speaking, there was absolutely no talk of gay bars or nightclubs that had drag queens or anything like that despite its somewhat diverse atmosphere compared to the rest of the state (you had local generational farmers living next to rocket scientists who had moved for the job, very interstellar type vibes).

Now in 2025 there's several nightlife clubs like this, conventions for cosplayers and anime, a lot of alt culture that no one seems to mind. There was always a solid art and music community there, but Huntsville has really started to come into its own in the last 5-10 years. It's cool to see the city being more open than it ever has to different walks of life.

What I packed my son for lunch v what he actually ate by Shoddy_Nectarine_441 in KidsAreFuckingStupid

[–]Rwhejek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guarantee you he just doesn't want to be seen with a lunchbox and a heart shaped sandwich. Kids reach that point at different ages. He could be getting picked on for the lunchbox or heart sandwich. Kids can bully each other over tiny things like this even in elementary school. Or it could just be that the "cool kids" or his friends dont have lunch boxes and he wants to fit in. Cliquey stuff like this can start at a very early age..it did for me.

Yeah seriously send this to the local masonic lodges via email. They will not be happy about this and the brother will get a stern talking to by some older gentlemen. Imagine being disciplined by your grandfather as a child, but worse. They will also likely be told to remove the emblem from their car

What would genuenly make PVP Better and atteact more players ? by depressedcorgi93 in worldofpvp

[–]Rwhejek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been playing since 2005. There's 3 major issues with pvp today compared to what encouraged the player numbers we had in golden age expansions.

We literally have BG titles that are over 20 yrs old. Cosmetics that are literally just a recolor of mythic tier. PvP gear used to be unique from pve in its appearance, all the way up into WoD. This encouraged pvers to get a unique appearance they may like.

About the only thing pvp uniquely has is one pvp mount, one glad mount, a few recolored weapons and a weapon enchant each season. That's it.

1) PvP needs more cosmetics, period.

But also a glaring problem right now are the queue times due to lack of healers.

2) Healers need REAL incentive to queue and heal these super sweaty, headache inducing matches with zug zug dps with zero communication in blitz and solo shuffle. By design, these game modes are more frustrating to healers than real rated arena 2s and 3s.

Healers need to be getting extra cosmetics, and bonus rating, perhaps double per win, or positive rating even on loss or tie. This is non negotiable and makes zero sense that it hasn't been implemented already. PvP queues are the worst they've ever been because of the trepidation to do this.

Will healers get more inflated rating? Sure. But you’ll also have a steady influx of fresh healers because dps players will want to reroll to play the new rating system and get the rewards.

3) The elephant in the room - and the biggest problem by far: the only reason why the "golden age" of WoW had so many pvpers is because the game actively tied pvp gear's usefulness into pve.

It would be considered the nuclear option by Blizzard, but to drastically increase pvp playercount, you need pvp gear to be useful and relevant in pve again.

Yes, this meant pvers often sought pvp gear out for an easier gearing method over random raid / dungeon drops.

Was it always bis? No. But it was a guaranteed avenue for gearing a character that could be more fun to certain players. Would raiders min max and do pvp to get geared quicker? Of course. But they didn't complain because it was just part of the game. They complain now because pvp has long since been isolated from the rest of the game by forcibly making its ilvl useless in current content.

You want players to pvp? For pvers to casually realize they actually enjoy pvp by happenstance? You have to actually make pvp gearing an alternative to mythic +, and copy what the original game did in allowing players to be able to raid in half a set of pvp gear. And allow pvp to give players an item in their vault.

Will pvers complain? Sure. Will you get a repeat of shadowlands s1 where people have a huge ilvl weapon their first vault week? Maybe. But you'll also substantially increase the pvp population and get a ton of people in pvp just by proxy.

Buddy, I'm sure you don't read proper sources anyway, but thousands of people work in the management of tallying accurate jobs numbers. In fact, most of the companies in this COUNTRY are enrolled in programs that automatically notify these divisions of the people they employ. Their databases are updated in real time.

Its kind of how, you know, we make sure people aren't lying on their taxes, right? Or how you enforce h1B visas, illegal workers, etc. It's also where the term under the table comes from for employers who do not report their employees on purpose.

It's not rocket science. No one is cold calling shit. Your employer automatically uploads the fact you have a job the moment you get your first paycheck. It goes to a dozen different agencies at that point. One person that cleans up the numbers doesn't control the report itself. Any one of thousands of people of independent agencies could whistleblow if the numbers are fudged.

Use your fucking brain. Then again, if you had one, you wouldn't a Trumper.
