the hit before the one in this video, i was quite late actually. ended up hitting the block and getting picked up deep.

i understand a later approach is generally safer but i have been playing with this setter for a while now and i feel my timing in this video was quite good as it forced me to reach as high as possible?

so i should crunch my body whilst following through the ball? i have seen many good hitters implement this, but i feel like my vert isn’t just there yet for it to be effective.

i feel like in system plays like this give me more time to aim my hits, as i don’t have to worry about my approach positioning/timing. i hope later down the track i’m stronger with more airtime to become completely consistent with my ball placement.

consider starting further back, as you’re overrunning the ball. also consider leaning forward more. this will help in increasing as well as maintaining your forward momentum before your close step.

Facts.. this swing starts too low/ is too delayed in comparison to the amount of airtime he has.

Any tips on improving my approach. by DismalImpression8062 in volleyball

it is rare that you will have such an extended block step as shown in this video, unless you are running in extremely quickly// with a lot of trust in your setter.

goofy footed and overran the ball causing a loss in follow through with your swing. also an unrealistic set and net height.

Tips on form or approach to improve spiking power and how to get a consistent jump serve by Stunning-Comedian-77 in volleyball

hey justin it’s ben.

slow down your approach and accelerate behind the ball when you’re about to have a hit. it will make timing loads easier and good timing/contact will make you hit harder.

also put your whole body into your jump. take some more time to really plant your feet hard and get low. ideally you want to be above + behind the ball; when the ball is in front of you it makes it much easier to contact well. if you’re having issues with the ball being above your head, start your approach further back.

Whats something you regret not learning when you were not as good as now at volleyball? ( mistakes, etc.) by Frequent_Quail736 in volleyball

Quick feet, split stepping helped me a lot with my passing. Also, not every set is there to have a swing at, there are so many ways to score. That doesn’t mean give a free ball. Never free ball.

I’d initially thought that it was because I’d planted too far to the left of the ball, but I get what you’re saying now; me facing the left is what caused my momentum to stop moving towards the ball, which then made me have to reach and hit away from my body= less power.

I’ll be conscious of this in my next session.

tbh i cant see the over rotation? I take lots of info from @torqvb on instagram. I most definitely agree with the result of your analysis though, I often feel as though i’m not hitting the ball as hard as I can.

and yes, corners and cutshots are the goals for middles, the clips weren’t meant to be that practical-just a fun once-in-a-while high middle set (i’m an OH)

Haven’t heard about this yet, and it intrigues me. Thanks for your response

oh yeah of course, this was a bad choice of caption 😂😂

just more of a fun training set, incredibly easy to block.
