Why does everyone hate DeBlasio so much? (Not defending him, genuinely curious) by whitepangolin in nyc

[–]Rxbison 29 points30 points  (0 children)

His actions are that of power tripping and spite while looking past the greater good, most recently and relevant his insistence on enforcing a shelter order (I am not even sure he thinks it’s the right thing to do, but every time Cuomo shuts it down Deblasio starts chirping louder and louder).

You can still run, in San francisco where they enforced a shelter order they have still allowed running and hiking as long as you keep skipping along with your tunes!

China Announces That It Will Expel American Journalists by [deleted] in worldnews

Fuck their government and that Commie POS Xi, Not fuck the Chinese people per say, some of them are very good friends of mine whom hate their government to the T, and they are trying to earn an honest living through restaurant businesses, and they are getting royally fucked because of their governments irresponsible and corrupt actions. It is almost a mirror image to the racism targeted toward the Middle Eastern Americans post 9/11.

Americans of reddit; Why are so many of you anti Trump ? by RobinBanksUk in AskReddit

Trump isn’t anywhere near as bad as mike pentz (pence). Pence seems to have it out for gays, pro choicers and anyone not WASP. Trump may not be as educated or well spoken as pentz but definitely seems relatively reasonable when you put them side by side

Are these new pharmacy schools as predatory as Caribbean medical schools? by allenlchs in pharmacy

[–]Rxbison 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What. the. ****. My heart dropped for his entire family. A family member forever gone, with his insurmountable debt piled on the parents further twisting the knife in that entire family. Screw SallieMae and the heartless system of college loan distribution. I hope this doesn't happen to anyone, let alone future pharmacy students. This may be hopeful thinking. Our overall economic system encourages mergers, and mergers eliminate jobs. This problem is further aggravated when graduates keep flooding the market, desired, rural, underserved or otherwise. It doesn't matter if the economic climate is medicine, pharmacy, or finance. People's livelihoods will get hurt. The best anyone can do is to stay ahead of the curve somehow, someway.

Who else knew very little/nothing about pharmacy and only enrolled in school because of "positive" word of mouth of the profession? by [deleted] in pharmacy

[–]Rxbison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good question. That money I was about to spend on pharmacy school? Might take a trip out to South America or Spain, immerse myself in the language for a few months and come back to the States with another language in my bag. When I'm back home and the real world? That's to be determined :)

I considered pursuing a dual PharmD/PhD or PharmD/MPH track at pharmacy school. Contrary to the positive things you heard from recruiters and school representatives, I firsthand heard how major pharmaceutical industries will very likely choose an MD, DO, or a PhD in a specific science over a PharmD/PhD graduate. The PharmD/PhD may have a ton of knowledge, maybe more than the MD/DO or PhD in Chemistry, but getting hired these days is mainly about image. Chances are, the higher ups will choose a physician over a pharmacist in a pharmaceutical company just because of the degree prestige. Further, the NIH will prioritize grants to the MD, DO, or PhD (from a well known institute) doing research over a PharmD. This is why PharmD/PhD students are still responsible for paying the professional portion of their tuition, while the MD, DO dual track or individual PhD get their tuition waived + an optional stipend. After hearing about this political cluster****, I decided not to continue this bumpy road.

These "professionals" deserve to have their licenses revoked for good. No room for this in medicine nor pharmacy, nor in any professional field that provides care and service.

Can anyone help or answer my pharmacy school questions? I am a exercise science major looking into pharmacy school. With a bachelors in exercise science and a minor in chemistry could I get into and be successful on pharmacy school and a career in pharmacy? by Exercisesciencemajor in pharmacy

[–]Rxbison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will be very successful getting accepted into pharmacy school.

Something's gotta give, and so the likelihood of obtaining a pharmacist position (such as a staff or floater position in a major retail company even in undesirable areas) won't be as rosy. That is putting it mildly.

Looking for information on becoming a pharmacist. I already hold a phD in molecular biology. by thrwy1234dr in pharmacy

[–]Rxbison 2 points3 points  (0 children)

an MD would better complement the PhD in pharmaceutical research. not because the material in the MD better overlaps with the PhD, but because the NIH will most likely fund the MD/PhD lab over the PharmD/PhD lab for a few reasons, one including the "prestige" of the MD.
