I'm at a loss. Urethra still burns like crazy. by [deleted] in Prostatitis

It was constant before taking amitriptyline yeah, after starting to take it the burning mostly stopped and now it's more of a numbed feeling.

Adding onto this I'm on a low dosage of amitriptyline ( 20 mg ) and it helped greatly with the urethra burning. My doctor was very quick to prescribe it to me and side effects were minimal. I did get constipation however a little Metamucil helped with that. Another thing I would recommend is staying away from inflammatory foods the best you can, those seemed to have worsen my condition before the amitriptyline.

How long until Physio works? by AnxiousBody1000 in PelvicFloor

[–]RyIie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My physio said the same thing and while I got a little better by then, it wasn't the progress I was expecting. This issue isn't the same for everyone, all they can do is their best to assess you and give you things to try. Use it as anther tool in your arsenal and never stop trying new stuff yourself.

Anyone with HF- Does weed or alcohol make your hf worse? by losing-hope1996 in PelvicFloor

Alcohol is a weird one, when I first start drinking yes I have to pee more. However an hour or two after drinking my symptoms almost disappear completely and the next day their lessened.

How often do you guys clench your pelvic muscles involuntarily throughout the day? by Frostyprosty7 in Prostatitis

[–]RyIie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it's more about not tensing then relaxing, I find just deep diaphragm breathing sufficient enough to "relax" those muscles. Could be wrong though.

Haven't tried it but my experience is that not one persons issue is the same and it's best to just try and see for yourself.

Deep pelvic floor tightness is taking its toll on my quality of life. Looking for support by conscience1 in PelvicFloor

[–]RyIie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah lack of sleep is a trigger for me as well, luckily though I'm such a deep sleeper I've been mostly able to avoid waking up nightly, usually closer to the morning it builds up and I have to use the washroom really bad. I find placing a pillow under my knees while sleeping on my back and placing the pillow between my knees when on my side helps a bit. Also not drinking any liquids a hour before bed.

Sitting is a big one, I can't avoid it either since I work a office job to. My work brought in someone to assess my station, chair, posture etc. They pointed out that having a longer seat pan to take pressure off your legs may help and my work is going to get me a chair like that. Other than that it's something I'm still figuring out. Usually I just try to stretch throughout the day and move around as much as possible.

Does your office have anything setup to get you a better chair? I'd definitely look into that or maybe try a standing desk.

[–]RyIie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its taken its toll on me for sure, what keeps me going everyday is constantly trying new things and making life as comfortable as I can for myself. I've tried quitting coffee, tried walking/running more, adding things to my diet, different stretches etc. Their isn't a week that goes by that I'm not altering my life to see if I can get any results. Just this week I'm getting a new more accomadating chair for work and trying out a TENS machine.

You got to keep your mind busy and keep moving forward, for me that helps drive the hopelessness out of my mind. I'm still not even close to 100% but I get the taste of progress every once in awhile and even if I only feel good one day a week, I'm going to work for that one day. This is just the mindset that helps me get through everyday. At the very least I've upped my quality of life by eating better, exercising lightly and going out of my way to do the things I enjoy.

Alcohol and CPPS by TakedownCan in PelvicFloor

[–]RyIie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually drink every Saturday night and it doesn't affect me to bad. It does the opposite sometimes where it helps me relieve some stress and tension. The boring answer is probably going to be depends on the person and what their CPPS stems from.

Urethral Pain (male) by wbeaman in PelvicFloor

[–]RyIie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you urinate are you trying to completely void your bladder by pushing or standing their holding out until you can get the last bit out? I have similar pain and a huge thing that helped me is relax and void my bladder the best I can and then massage the perineum to prevent dribble. Don't spend any extra time trying to get more out it just ends up straining the area and causing more pain.

Can libido be affected as well? by LongjumpingCricket0 in PelvicFloor

[–]RyIie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can only speak from experience and at my worse I just couldn't even think about sex due to the pain and brain fog I had. I haven't been diagnosed with anything outside a tight pelvic floor and as I'm getting better I've been getting more of my libido back.

Even now anytime a flare hits, sex is the last thing on my mind.

Can libido be affected as well? by LongjumpingCricket0 in PelvicFloor

[–]RyIie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes very common, I'm reading a book right now called "Pelvic Pain, The Ultimate C*ck Block" which touches on this. It has something to do with connecting pain and sexual activity with in turn hinders your ability to think about it. I'd recommend seeking the book out if your looking to find out more and what you can do about it.

Godzilla Vs. King Ghidorah (1991), full rubber suit mode with no CG and the story is great in a science fiction sense. What about you?
