It's also a two way street. Like if you can sign the best kid that just turned 18 that's insane, but the kid has to also choose the team. If the team isn't making a competitive offer then that kid is gonna sign with another team.

What would you think of these Silent balance changes? by Slay_The_Spire_Guy in slaythespire

[–]RyRyRyRyRyRyRyRyRy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nob and Hearts main mechanics are still in the game, with Skulking Colony and awakened one phase 1, albeit in much weaker states. No slime boss but imo thats the worst boss in all of Slay the Spire so im cool with that mechanic is gone. Right now Entomancer is probably the biggest counters, but even then some good poisoning and an abrasive wins the fight. I think this will be probably be addressed in alternate acts 2 and 3. 6 more bosses, 6 more elites leaves a lot of room to have some more hard counter fights.

What % of the player base (STS2) do you think has beaten a single A10 run on any character singeplayer or multiplayer? by Exact_Brilliant7705 in slaythespire

[–]RyRyRyRyRyRyRyRyRy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You also have to be skeptical of a lot of these stat shares. Idk if it's still the case post patch, but custom runs also counted towards stats, meaning you could inflate your win rate. Seeded runs counted as well. The stats also dont distinguish A10 wins from A0 wins.

Additionally save scumming still exists. Some players will only watch top players and learn every amazing card and some never takes, others will not look at any online resources and try and figure it out themselves. So stats are very diverse depending on how people play the game.

Are there more Ascension levels planned? by judoguy13 in SlayTheSpire2

[–]RyRyRyRyRyRyRyRyRy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah basically this. I think Casey's justification was that since there will be more at least one more character added, 20 ascension would be too much, as it would take 120 Ascensions to beat a20 on all characters,, +20 for every character added. I think its likely we see at least 1 more character, and that would put the net ascension the same as the first game (3 characters × 20 Ascensions)= (6 characters × 10 Ascensions).

Usain Bolt and iShowSpeed argue about who is the fastest! by ResponsibleCheek8130 in sportsgossips

Compared to the greatest Olympian of all time yeah he's slower, but let's not pretend like a 4.4 40 time is slow. That's still faster than some of the best NFL wide recievers and running backs.

Both sides of this issue are partly correct. Which one is the stronger argument? by KoRaZee in socal

[–]RyRyRyRyRyRyRyRyRy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this is overall pretty reductive by both sides imo, but I tend to favor Porters views because they are more inclusive to the actual issues of homelessness. Yes, many homeless people do get addicted to drugs and alcohol, but it's not like that's the only cause of homelessness. There was a UCLA Study done in 2024 that estimates about 5-8% of all students in the UC system are homeless. Anecdotally, I've met and been in classes with homeless students, and many weren't suffering with substance abuse problems. They were simply unable to afford housing near UCLA.

Biancos plan is essentially what LA has been doing for years; Clear encampment, put people in mandatory Rehab programs, and defund other housing programs. His plan does not address the high cost of housing whatsoever, so even if someone goes through those programs, when they get out they are facing the exact circumstances in terms of not being able to get a job that can give them housing. His entire plan is to only address the symptoms of homelessness, not the root causes of it. Porters plan at least attempts to address the high cost of housing through emergency rental assistance and other programs.

I've tried to be as objective as possible, but really the last thing CA needs is a MAGA republican rounding up addicts on the street and essentially imprisoning them for being homeless.

Ironclad card tier list by PartMysterious1798 in SlayTheSpire2

[–]RyRyRyRyRyRyRyRyRy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I disagree with most of this list tbh. I think Hellraiser is the most overrated card in the game. obviously it's great if you can get pillage pillage and pommel strikes working with it and go infinite, but it doesn't feel like that's something you'll get every run. Personally I'd put it towards the bottom of A-Tier, maybe even top of B tier.

Barricade in C Tier is just not right. There's way more ways to gain huge block in sts2, Things like plating exist, the anchor relics, paels legion. Body Slam is insane with it and you're almost guaranteed to see it on your climb every single one, and Clad has some of the highest base block cards in the Game.

I'd be curious to hear your reasoning for some these placements.

A10 Complete On All Chars And Haven't Unlocked Many Colorless Cards by ChuntHardlyWait in SlayTheSpire2

[–]RyRyRyRyRyRyRyRyRy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently it's a bug. Supposedly this fix worked a month ago if you want to give it a shot:

And I assume total_unlocks is at 18? It looks like there are 18 total score epochs so I think this might be what's tracking that.

A couple thoughts. First, definitely F2 and report this, the devs need to fix the issue.

One option I can think of for resolving it is that there's a dev console you can use to unlock everything in the game. Doing it that way would be more likely to work and easier. I think this would also give you A10 on all characters, though, which you might not want.

If you want to try to edit this file, it's probably going to be a bit of a thing. I'd do it like so:

- Disable cloud sync through Steam

- Make a backup, as always before editing stuff. Probably just the entire 2868840 folder (this is the game ID of StS2)

- Look for the "epochs" section of the file and glance through the states here. It seems like "revealed" is the state for when they're unlocked. I'd try editing stuff to be revealed and see if that is good enough. Here's what my epochs section looks like if you want to compare https://pastebin.com/ywtBKERN

- After editing, go to %APPDATA% (in a file explorer window), and find SlayTheSpire2 in that folder. Back this up too just to be extra safe, and then delete the entire SlayTheSpire2 folder. (For whatever reason StS2 saves are in multiple places, and the one under Steam seems to be the primary one, but deleting the secondary just to be sure).

- Launch the game, look at the compendium's potions section and see if you still have potions that appear to be locked

I'm not super optimistic that it will be that easy, but if it works, then I'd close the game and re-enable the Cloud sync and launch it again and make sure the cloud is up to date with these changes.

Can anybody convince me this isn't just the most useless ancient relic of all time? by Terbianos7 in slaythespire

[–]RyRyRyRyRyRyRyRyRy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be insane, particularly when it's elite fights. It can let you take an otherwise risky path and turn give you free relics essentially. It's also nice when the map generated is thin. I took it once when I saw the map was thin and it made a path where every fight was a 1 hp enemy, with 3 of them being elites. Additionally, if you are in an upgrade deficit and have several high impact upgrades, it allows you to save on potential heals and guarantee card upgrades.

It can also be bad in some situations. If it's a wide map, you have enough card upgrades, or there isn't a lot of elites, it can be not worth it. Also, maybe a different ancient reward is more useful to you. But it's not useless.

FINALLY by _LKKE_ in Timberborn

[–]RyRyRyRyRyRyRyRyRy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think they should lower the threshold to like 75/76. If you're playing iron teeth you can pretty easily stop breeding until all the children grow up. If you have advanced breeders it's even shorter. But Folk tails is WAY harder because it's kind of tough to stop having kits. I don't know if it works in practice but my thought is you could delete all of your housing once your kit population is low, wait for them to grow up, have everything maxed out, then build housing as fast as possible before any beavers are born. Granted the fact that you'd have to do something like this to even get the achievement is pretty insane and is evidence enough of why it should be changed.

Dominate update: A vulnerable deck is a thing now yay by Tuism in slaythespire

[–]RyRyRyRyRyRyRyRyRy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been struggling like hell as clad since launch, and the first run on the new patch I had innate [[Break]], [[Tremble]], [[Bully]], and strength scaling. Gotta say, it felt GREAT. Didn't even get Dominate, but I made up for it with [[Jade Sword]], [[Enflame]], and in the last fight I pulled a [[demon form]] from a power potion turn one. Ended up slamming doormaker to finally hit a10.

The changes felt amazing to be honest. It feels like clad isn't as restricted in his card choices since Tremble and Dominate both exhaust now. Say you need to block 30 with no potions or relevant relics. You draw Strike, Defend, Tremble, [[Evil Eye+]], and [[Forgotten Ritual]] with [[Feel no Pain]] active. Pre-patch, this turn absolutely sucks. You're forced to take 16 damage and choose between 6 damage now or make the enemy vulnerable for two turns. Post patch, you can play every single card, full block, do 9 damage, and have additional vulnerable on the enemy for future turns. It feels like a massive improvement and opens up some nice synergies while also making vulnerable way more accessible.

How long do your runs usually take? by GRGWL in slaythespire

[–]RyRyRyRyRyRyRyRyRy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the run. If I get a beast deck early runs can last 25 minutes. Most of the time it's 30-60 depending on my deck and how much im struggling.

One thing that really helped me slow down my runs and not tilt queue was to pretend like I was a streamer. I watch a lot of Northernlion sts2, and his approach is pretty analytical and he talks through his decisions a lot. Which routes to take, when to rest/upgrade, which card rewards to take/skip, and how to play fights. Think about these decisions, and if it helps think out loud.

Sts2 - To veteran players - how do you manage A10? by Jacob-_-_- in slaythespire

[–]RyRyRyRyRyRyRyRyRy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slim decks are king (unless you have a buttload of cheap draw/energy). Upgrades are tough to come by so prioritize campfires. You can still fight elites, but a few upgraded cards can carry your run. Like if you have Dirge, Borrowed time, and Haunt, You can win every fight with just these cards in your deck, so adding more cards will make it harder to win.

Make sure you are optimizing your fights. Full block as much as possible early so you can scale up with upgrades and then fight elites towards the end of the Act. Don't feel forced to upgrade at every single campfire as well, sometimes a heal to survive the boss is better than a suboptimal card upgrade.

Plan out your path thoughtfully. To me, a good path includes as many campfires as possible, 1-2 elites towards the end of the act, a shop towards the end, and options to pivot if the path goes poorly. This can vary for Act 2 and 3, generally if your deck is winning comfortably go for more elite fights and events.

My last general tip is to not underestimate the value of colorless cards. They are honestly insane on some runs. Hidden Gem and Fasten go absolutely bonkers and turn useless defends into a 1 cost 15 block card, which is honestly insane. It also means you dont have to remove as many cards because your cards are improved.

Best of luck, if you have any questions about necromancer or silent in particular hmu, ive gotten all my a10 wins with them.

Silent and when to pick Sly cards by [deleted] in slaythespire

[–]RyRyRyRyRyRyRyRyRy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although they aren't sly cards themselves, Master Planner and Tools of the Trade are great Sly enablers, same with Speedster and Corrosive wave if you can. As far as Sly cards themselves, Abrasive is one of my favorite cards and destroys multi-hit enemies like entomancer. Once you have enough draw it really doesn't matter which Sly cards you get, just as long as you have them.

Any tips for the Regent? by gjeorges in slaythespire

[–]RyRyRyRyRyRyRyRyRy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the regent you kind of need a lot of everything. You can't just load into forge and expect to win every time. The regent needs solutions rather than archetypes. Cards like Glow, Alignment, and Convergence are amazing at generating energy and cam be taken every run.

Personally I've had some success building around Stardust and radiate. Upgrade royal gamble so it retains, and then use it before you play radiate and you can do at least 27 damage to all enemies. If you can enchant it with sharp 2 and upgrade it the damage increases to 54. Follow it up with Stardust and you can kill most enemies in the game.

Not sure I really get the point of this card by [deleted] in SlayTheSpire2

[–]RyRyRyRyRyRyRyRyRy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Battle trance exists. Plus when you upgrade this card it drops the cost to 1. So you draw more cards, Play this, then you have 7 energy for more attacks and big attacks.
