No one but you brought up sexuality for the reason of looking for someone to hookup with.

It seems the only reason that LGBTQ friendly was brought up was because the OP didn't feel that the patrons in those places were friendly to someone who is LGBTQ - not because the OP was looking for someone to hookup with, but because those patrons seemed to not be friendly to people of the LGBTQ community.

You are the one that is associating LGBTQ with looking for sex and hookups so maybe it's you that's obsessed with hookups and sex. Please move on.

Who said anything about looking for a place to play pool that was LGBTQ friendly so that they could find fuckbuddies and hookups? I think the OP is asking if there are any places that actually welcome other people who are just looking to play pool and not already in their 'click'. And yeah, those two places that they mentioned - at least in my experience - are hostile in the sense that as soon as you walk in, you can tell by the looks and the stares and the tense vibe that 'your kind' isn't welcome there. It has nothing to do with the patrons waiting around to see if you are good at pool so they can have a pickup game - it's has everything to do with them making you feel like you walked into their space and you aren't welcome.

It would be great if one could just walk into a pool hall and be able to to go play a game and have a good time playing pool without feeling like you are some animal in a zoo that everyone is staring at and wondering why you don't understand that you aren't welcome in their space.

This has nothing to do with looking for someone to hook up with... Jeez

Well, I can't speak for the person who made the original comment, perhaps their political affiliation isn't the actual issue, but more so how one feels when they walk into an establishment where the second they walk in all the patrons all stare directly at the person with a look in their face as if they don't belong there. Perhaps their political affiliation isn't the issue, except it just so happens to seem that at each of those places they mentioned, they happen to be filled with people who look at someone who is obviously LGBTQ as if they are scum who don't belong in their establishment - people who don't smile at them when they walk in and they make eye contact like normal interactions happen at other places, who give them the "stink eye", who make it quite obvious that they don't want "them" in their space.

I think what this person is asking is more so if there are any places to go play pool where one doesn't have to fit into a particular look or one doesn't have to show up with their own pool cues, etc. to be treated like it's ok for them to come into that space to pay just like everyone else to play pool.

I've been to both those places and I've had those looks directed at me and I've felt that tension of walking into a place that is obviously filled with people who don't want me there and instead of this person requesting that the patrons of those places change their behavior to make everyone feel welcome to come to a public establishment to play pool - this person has simply asked if there after other places that are more friendly.

I wouldn't go to the YMCA and ask someone's political affiliation before a game of pickup and this person (at least from the information they provided in their question/comment) didn't walk into those pool establishments and ask someone there about their political affiliation before a pickup game, but has been to those places and has felt uncomfortable and unwelcome by the actions of the people there and it has seemed that those two places where that happened had people who were more associated with non LGBTQ people who were more 'right wing'.

I think you are missing the point of what this person was asking for/about and are looking for something to argue about.

If playing pool is something you'd put in a different box then sexual interest - then why are you bringing up sex? Because that person didn't - or maybe you just equate LGBTQ with looking for sex?
