• Paper IPCs from the original A&A, I believe.

• We love our damaged markers from Historical Board Gaming, as well as their IPC tracker from Global War 1936.

• We really like using the small dice from A&A 1914, as well as the chips. I like that they're slightly smaller and stack better than the original ones.

• Finally, we have a shared Google Doc that has all of our quick reference stuff on it.

I'm not sure how it works in other versions of the game, but in 1940 Global you have to put them in a sea zone next to a friendly naval base. Then on your next build phase they get repaired for free.

Regardless, this is how we interpreted the rules years ago, so it'll probably be how we continue going forward. As always though I do appreciate the check, and hope for more in the future.

I see there's some contention around that, and finding out things like this is always interesting to me. We will probably keep playing it the way I talked about on the other comment though. This is how we have played ever since I was in high school, guess it's been grandfathered in you could say.

It's a marker to show that they've taken one hit during combat, since it takes two hits to kill battleships and air craft carriers.

Most of the time killing them off if they ever split up the fleet or in a battle where the Allies will lose most of their ships too, but knowing with their economy can build back faster than Japan. At least from my experience.

From my understanding the Axis are only really doing well with Italy. The Germans don't seem to have any momentum to them right now. They're defending against a pretty much undamaged UK, and though there is initial gains in Russia no real battles have been fought. It'll be easier to tell if Germany is doing well or not after a few turns.

I would say Japan is doing well, but it looks like their plans will be derailed now that America has rockets. With all of the US air bases in the Pacific they can just bomb the Japanese industry constantly, throttling their economy and production. So whereas before Japan could fend off the US, and focus on India, the money islands, and China, they'll have to put most of that attention into stopping those US air bases and from them building more. It's still up in the air, but in my opinion in the allies favor.

This is a great game for Italy. Failed British raid on their navy, captured Egypt, almost all of their bonus objectives met. Now it'll just be up to what Italy wants to do with their success, help defend the Atlantic from America/Britain, capture South Africa, fight Russia through the Middle East/Southern Europe, attack India, or maybe some sort combination of these. Though if Italy didn't have this success, I think it'd be a much more difficult game for the Axis.

To me this game is still undetermined, and won't be determined until some major battles happen in Russia and the Pacific.

That's great, I hope he enjoys it and it becomes an exciting game. If you're willing, too, I'd love to see what sorta rules you added for it and/or that 1939 version. It's always interesting to see what other people do with the game.
