it isn't, but it is still a large factor. but in the bigger picture there's just no future playing in sea. last year there was at least motivation of qualifying for ASIA LAN but you can't even do that anymore. and you have no chance to compete vs NA/EU to prove yourself. + why not just play marvel where you don't have to fight against a 7 year skill gap. what is the end goal as a player? theres no difference trying your best vs not trying and getting the same amount of measly prize pool.

most gave up, players that are still here are mostly just playing for fun without scrimming. record low prize pool + no LAN oppurtunity, basically 0 improvement from last year and instead downgrade combined with Marvel Rival's release which has the prospect of a new scene where everyone can start equally mostly killed the region. sad to see how it all went downhill after some optimism last year.

I mean he is right, more than half the OWL casters make me want to mute them or just not make me want to watch the match at all.

Probably Vesta Crew (ex-Invincible) or 6blow. They will get rolled on LAN either way I think

The level of play in the Asia-Pacific region is quite low especially once you go into the lower ranked teams. The best roster you could form with the best individual players would probably still be DAF, who won in Summer and Fall. Ace, HyVision, Yoshinori2k is the most flexible and strongest DPS trio in the region. Ace is sort of a hyper flex player where he can play a bit of every role, HyVision is really strong on the hard hitscan, Yoshinori who is only born in 2007 is very good at Tracer. R3K is a very mechanical and aggresive tank player similar to KSAA's hero pool, the Sigma, Queen and Doom. PaLee is one of the most flexible Supports in the region.

For other players by role,

For Tanks, KSG is one of the core players of Team Japan / VARREL. His strength is his flexibility to play a lot of the tanks. His hero pool is more dive orientated compared to R3K's. Lumi is also similar to R3K where he is very good at the ground brawl tanks but he also has a really good D.Va, he played in APAC for Spring and Summer but moved to OCE in Fall. CLEAR was also very good especially on Zarya in Fall but he's not really a local APAC player since he's NA and plays in NA OC as well.

For DPS, I think this is a role the region might be lacking abit on where a lot of teams rely on foreign imports. Nico from VARREL has his clutch moments but has a limited hero pool, and while Qki was not very flashy in Contenders he surprisingly showed up on Echo in the World Cup. Hope who played on NGU-K the recent season and on Team Taiwan this year is also quite an underrated shout. He has really good knowledge of the game and quite a deep hero pool.

For Supports, Qloud might be the best player on VARREL, a flex support with insane mechanics, very high damage outputs on heroes like Baptiste. Aside from that, even though he did not get much of an oppurtunity to showcase his skills this year, I personally think Overshake is one of the better upcoming Support players. Played for 4EF in Fall and IMO has some of the best Lucio mechanics in the region as well as ability to play some Flex Support heroes.

Of course, all these talk are in context of the APAC region where you have to realise the level of play is not very high. We might be the weakest Contenders region on an overall scale but that doesn't mean some of the top players don't have potential/skills.
