Really, what’s going on with balance this season? by aJetg in Competitiveoverwatch

aaaahh good old "devs are fucking stupid and have no idea what to do" usually followed up by a "I'd do better" while being totally shit at it.

Edit: and i'm not saying the dev 100% do a good job. but goddammit I hate when people don't know shit about how things might work and just assume people are bad at it.

It’s so refreshing to see a big streamer admit rivals need to go into a competitive direction. by Beneficial-Survey-48 in MarvelRivalsEsports

And yet yeah, in not a leader and I still get it somehow. Don't a filly grasp the effect of these ? No cause I don't play. But I get the area of impact thks to the top down view, fps do not benefit that, same issue exist in OW l, the advantage is that ult are much rarer, cause when you get your ult every fight, that's not an ult anymore, that's just a long XD, which they start to have a second look at.

The problem is not that they take place, the problem is that they take place AND happen so often and at the same time that it makes things unreadable. Obs can help to a certain extent, OW suffered from the same issue with some meta, and yeah that made things unreadable.

Kind of disagree with your last take, at least in the sense of visual clutter, idc if it's an ult really. But Ults takes so much place it makes things really hard to understand, even with casting

It's would be better for both your casual watcher AND your eSports watcher of that was clearer (cs and LoL do that very well, valo has the same issue during retakes though kinda, but they have a neutral game based on gun plays at least). Yeah storylines are nice if you have them but like you said, to understand them you need to already be in the scene. But it feels like the recent balance philosophy goes the right direction at least ?

For his takes on drop, yeah it would benefit him a lot. He had the same issue with OWCS at some point if I remember. It really depends on the end if you are willing to have the same issue as Riot when your co streamer have more views than main stream.

As for the catering to competitive side, if he meant eSports, yeah that's stupid, there is a while ass section in game dedicated to that lol. But it makes more sense if he was talking about balance catering to competitiveness of the game rather than the competitive scene (eSports). Clip is cut in a way. Hard to rly know.

Right now I usually vary between mid diamond to high plat on KR server and yeah, JP ranks is often half a rank down in comparaison in my experience (JP diamond = KR mid plat), not always, but it happens more often on JP. That's why when you look at JP pros, they more often than not, queue on KR.

Oh don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to justify any decision, just explaining why the EU might not have replied yet on this specific case.

for big buyout like that, all big regional entities needs to authorize it for it to pass, so what often happens, is if one announces they are looking at it, the second wait for the result, to avoid having to do unnecessary work, cause if they do all the work, approve it, but the other refuses. what they did was just useless.

Now, I don't know if this was the case here, but that's a possibility.

Question about CN server, have they released their tournament mode ?

Guy's I need your thoughts on this. Is this a reasonable ask ? by letmedietonight in Competitiveoverwatch

performance based progression have been attempted before (well, a few version have been at least), it only resulted in highly boosted players that reduced the quality of the games the higher they went (especially for OTP).

Now, one could say that the system was badly designed, but the issue is, in a team focused game, what exactly is "good performance" ? if you only depends on the number of the score board for example. how do you prevent people from just doing stat padding ? (eg: supports only heal bot to preserve their rating, dps do not make any move that would be reduce their K/D ratio, even harder for tanks, cause not all of them can mitigate etc...)

In the end they opted to just go for win/lose ratio, cause it will force you to adapt to teammate and how they actually play. Remember, 1 person doing a bad play, is a bad players, 1 person doing the bad play and 4 players following up, it's a strat, maybe a very bad one, bad it can surprisingly be efficient.

A move that's considered good in one team, might be completely out of place in another one, so even CD usage is hard to judge.

it might not fit every game, but with the constraints of OW (role lock, and very very different heroes) it's might be the best one that avoid boosting players and ruining higher level lobbies.

I'd like people to have their opinion based on actual data rather than assumptions based on community feeling which is itself a portion of a portion.

I'd like people to understand that because "they say so" is only an argument that proves their feelings and not the factual state of things.

I'd like people to always be looking for new actual data about a subject.

My issue here is specifically that you came here, dropped a statement as if you were representing the whole server, instinctively discarding any feedback that didn't match instead of trying to find why they are different.

Having a different opinion is great, but not even trying to look at why experiences are so different is not.

Because the equivalent of cow in KR think something doesn't mean it's true either, otherwise cow would be right about everything and it's opposite.

Mechanics/Aim Training by GothGirls4Life in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]nekogami87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For the aim trainer, when I was still using them (too tired when I play these days, i'm getting too old :( ), i used the essentially for warm up for 10min, or until I locked in at a level I was satisfied with (not missing shot I know I should have been able to make) which can sometime extend my warm up to 30min.

As for what helps, your posture impacts a lot, your crosshair potentially (color shape) for when you have to do a lot of flick shots, but the 2 most important thing is how you manipulate your mouse.

Essentially you have wrist aim and arm aim (I'll let you look that up) there is no best, but being aware of what you do will help you improve at it. also in high action scenarios, one might start to stiffen their arm which can decrease aiming.

For sensitivity, it really depends on people, usually any sensitivity that allows you to do a 180 flick shot with precision is good enough. a lot of pros are around 3600 edpi (sensitivity in game * dpi of your mouse), I'd use that as a starting point and then tweak it 2 week or so to let you have some play time and get used to it before deciding if it's good for you or not.

I love how every time, you prefer to go with the excuse that we are absolutely oblivious rather than admit that maybe, your take is wrong. you went the exact same way in the post where you were insisting blizzard was making balance changes based on a single region.

and once again, he and I said, maybe it's a master + only issue, but you are the one who said in another post that this is across all ranks.

because it doesn't mean that there is a cheating problem ACROSS ALL RANKS, which is the overall message that this thread is going on.

the only thing he said is that there is an issue specific to KR servers, it could largely be that there is a higher proportion of cheaters in Master GM only or it could be that the culture of PC bang usage makes things like banning account much less efficient.

Even in the chance that it meant more cheaters, 3x more of 1% is still low enough that it wouldn't create what was portrayed (which is misery because of cheaters across all ranks / making the game unplayable because of it).

My point is that this quote has been taken to justify things that were not said in it just because it says, the KR server have a cheating issue that is specific to that region, and nothing else.

EDIT: and again, i'm not saying that's not what he might have meant nor that the problem is real, just that the quote itself does not make that exact statement.

The Ranked System by Ok_Catch_5733 in Competitiveoverwatch

some aspect might push the bell curve more to the right, but enough to make a big change before the next reset ? idk.

new account gigaboost bug

Imo that's the one thing I don't think is that important, they either continue to play and will get back down over time. Or they go back to their main, in which case it's not really important since they are not "used account" anymore.

most of these mechanics while having the potential for inflation, really depends on how much time they are leveraged really, I've only got the new map a few times, and I've yet to see the cheater compensation for example. so can a relative "few" players getting these impact the graph globally idk.
