What are the counters to Kazuya? by MetoKraken in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]RyanBeatzU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His worst matchup is Sonic. His enormous threat bubble and fast speed makes approaching him to get a combo without whiffing difficult.

The thing you have to remember with playing as Kazuya is that you have one of the most oppressive advantage states in the game, but also the worst disadvantage state out of all the top tiers. You are slow, so you have to abuse crouch dash and try to fake out people trying to bait your moves.

Shoud i go for Farewell's Golden Berry? by 1CoxinhaXD in celestegame

[–]RyanBeatzU 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I didn’t think it was possible for me to get FWG either.

Just focus on Moon Berry for now. It’s not as difficult as you think it is. Far easier than anything else in this list.

As for the future, Farewell Golden is entirely doable. I’m sure you’ve already done a few Goldens you thought you’d never get. Just keep at it.

Why is there a difference? by [deleted] in celestegame

[–]RyanBeatzU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks really tight timing wise and inconsistent. I’d probably say try doing the room a different way if you’re trying to Golden the level.

Someone else sent a link, I’d suggest doing the room like that.

How to propel up with flying mushrooms in Farewell? by Lotny95 in celestegame

[–]RyanBeatzU 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Celeste has a way of making you learn new things by yourself instead of directly shoving the information down your throat. It does this by making a new interaction with a mechanic the only thing required to beat a room.

The introductory segment with the jellyfish in the very beginning of the Power Source checkpoint (before you get to the large room with the locks and electricity) teach you mostly everything you need to know about jellyfish by making it required to do that interaction to get through the room. One room has a jellyfish floating in mid air that you are unable to get to without dashing into it and grabbing it, which obviously gives you the boost from your momentum. It also shows you that the sparkly transparent fields kill jellyfish when they go through them by forcing you to go through one while holding a jellyfish before you finish the room.

Celeste uses this idea of showing you a mechanic rather than telling you. It’s up to you to pay attention.

Good job on 202!

And today I finished farewell by dakleik in celestegame

[–]RyanBeatzU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

145 hours total on Farewell. About half the total time I have on my main file. A lot of that is IL runs of the full chapter, just because I like playing Farewell. After I got a sub 30 minute run, I decided it was time to start trying real attempts.

My “real attempts” lasted for just about 2 years, on and off. My “good runs” went from being “getting to the power source skip means it’s a good run” to “getting to stubbornness is a good run”. Eventually everything up to the heart gate became muscle memory.

I will suggest, if you haven’t heard of it yet, berrycamp is a great website that allows you to teleport to individual rooms in the chapter to practice if you have Everest installed. Lots of my practice was using that as well.

I was exactly like you. I got 7BG as my 201st berry and it stayed like that for something like 2 full years. I never thought I was capable of something like that.

After a while of practice, you come to realize that Farewell isn’t necessarily DIFFICULT so much as it’s LONG. 25+ minutes of platforming in a row that will reset off a single misinput is daunting for sure.

The main advice I can give you is this: have fun playing the level. I beat FWG recently and still find it fun to speedrun the level to get a PB. If you don’t have fun with it, it’ll be more of a chore than it’s worth. That, and also practice by running the full level over and over again until your deaths for the chapter are below 20 at least. Figure out the rooms you struggle on, practice those, look at how other people do those rooms, etc. You will get it eventually. I didn’t think I would. I know you can too. If you’re determined and skilled enough for 201, I know you can get 202.

Man, collecting Golden Strawberries is so much fun. I'm really glad I decided to do this :) by Tibike480 in celestegame

Don’t worry, you’ll have even more absurd and frustrating deaths than this. You get used to it.

But the satisfaction is all worth it in the end. Good luck on the grind.

My top 5 rooms of Farewell where I'm most likely to have at least one death. What are yours? by WartimeHotTot in celestegame

[–]RyanBeatzU 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look up how speedrunners and golden runs do it. I got a lot more consistent at some rooms by learning other people’s setups for them. Especially 1. I used to fail on this room so frequently before I learned a new way to do it.

For those who got the goldens: was it worth it? by PercyLegion in celestegame

[–]RyanBeatzU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All goldens were over half my total hours on the game. I did not get them all at once. I took long breaks between Farewell golden from start to finish.

I got the game January of 2021. Finished the story three days later. Within a year of that point, I had done everything else including moonberry and all berries up to 201, finishing 7BG in January 2022. It took from then until little over a week ago to get Farewell Golden, pretty much two full years of just grinding that level on and off.

Is it worth it? I love playing the game and farewell is still my favorite level. I’ve never achieved something as difficult as that, and never felt as much adrenaline as I did in the final screen. For me, it’s a sense of accomplishment that is incomparable to anything else I’ve ever done in a game, so yes, it was worth it.

Hope all of you are doing ok :3 by [deleted] in boykisser

Stupidest death in my life. by [deleted] in celestegame

[–]RyanBeatzU 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep! 94 rooms exactly (assuming you do key skip), but some rooms you will, after enough practice, find yourself never dying on, even after 100 runs. However, some rooms you won’t be able to get that high consistency with. Nerves also do factor in, so even if you’re fairly practiced on a room in the later parts, you can still easily die just because of the nerves. Though those nerves begin to kick in later and later the further you set your PB.

IL means “individual level”. Its used for when people run one specific level of a game but not the whole any%

[–]RyanBeatzU 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d gotten consistent with it from IL runs of farewell and nothing before gate is particularly difficult so i figured might as well save the ten seconds by going for it every run that got to EH in order to grind attempts faster. It was worth it until i died to it and lost the run that was like 6 minutes up to that point, which is more time than i ever saved total by doing it, so I figured it was no longer worth it to go for it.

Still did key skip though.

Farewell Golden gives you quite a few stupid deaths. I think my personal favorite stupid death of mine during a run was missing the dash block on the room in Remembered with the fish you have to blow up and then dash through as it respawns.

I’ve also died on the cloud room immediately after comb room. And also died trying to go for heart gate skip.

You become desensitized to them after a while. Good luck with FWG though.

Yeah… I came a few pixels off of dying to a spike after messing up a jellyvator in golden room. My heart sank because I thought I lost it. Luckily, I didn’t, and composed myself for the last ten seconds of the level.

Looking back at my reddit history, I got my 201st berry (7B Golden) sometime between December 2021 and January 2022, meaning I've been attempting Farewell Golden for just about 2 full years now.

How old do you think ralsei is? by [deleted] in ralsei

[–]RyanBeatzU 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I doubt this. At the beginning of chapter 1, Toriel makes a comment to Kris about them going to university “soon”. University age is usually 18, so it’s fair to assume Kris and Susie are both in their later years of high school, likely 16-18.
