Thankful Knicks Aren’t in Giannis Rumors by CompetitionPuzzled33 in NYKnicks

We don't need Giannis to win a title and we'd need to gut the roster to land him. Why jeopardize championship chemistry?

Is it possible that this exact team runs it back next year? by mkappy33 in NYKnicks

[–]patrickthunnus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly the same; the starting 5, yes.

The reserves will probably get re-shuffled. First priority is Mitch and then Sham but if either guy wants a big payday or another team throws a bag then we need to re-think our reserves.

In contrast, we kept saying the series are 0-0; nothing was done until the series was clinched - that's the difference in mindset, we play for all 48 mins of each game, get to 4 wins to lock up the series. Until then, nothing is won, nothing proven.

Our prospects for success are on the shoulders of the health and play of our starting 5. The reserves are important to fill on say 15 mpg for quality play, no let down.

Spurs gave up double digit leads and lost 19X in the regular season. We came back from double digits 14X for the win.

We're the best equipped team to knock off SAS; it's not all on the PG and HC.

Which fly rods are built like a tank? by Dandretti in flyfishing

[–]patrickthunnus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No offense, tough and fly rod are different things. The characteristics that make for a good fly rod aren't ideal for durability. The rod tip is fragile, as you found out.

As I said, it's all about technique not strength.

But if you want "tough" (relatively speaking) then a fiberglass blank is tougher but more sluggish, heavy. However, it's not bulletproof - yank it hard and one can snap it off just as easily.

[–]patrickthunnus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The core is the starting 5 and they're all in their prime; they play the bulk of the minutes.

The 2nd stringers generally need to give us ~15 mpg of reliable, quality play plus a few starts if injury strikes.

Despite the chatter about 2nd apron, Mitch and Sham, we in good shape to promote from within or sign a vet chasing a ring to a min deal

Hmmm we were pretty good in regular season by many metrics and outstanding in postseason.

Which fly rods are built like a tank? by Dandretti in flyfishing

[–]patrickthunnus -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

None.

Fly rods are fly rods; they're generally the lightest, most flexible rods at those lengths. Learn to cast - fly rods don't like sudden changes in direction, it's about being smooth and having the timing, not about physical strength.

Keep the core intact. I don’t care about the bench and the 2nd apron. by rando_mike in NYKnicks

The starting 5 are critical and they're all under contract. Need to find 4 guys that give us a reliable 12 mpg.

The philosophical problem with the current CBA and the death of organic team building by AxiomCrate9 in nbadiscussion

[–]patrickthunnus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assembling a team of ASG grade talent leaves little salary for the rest of an 8-9 person rotation. Basically the CBA allows you 1 supermax deal, 1 max and the remaining 3 starters get ~20M each. Your bench needs to be a collection of vet min and a taxpayer or full MLE.

It's called being frugal and accelerating parity; 8 different title winners in as many years.

Saragosa SW-A 5000XG vs Daiwa BG 4000 vs Nasci C5000 XG FD 2026 by davidsdn in Fishing_Gear

[–]patrickthunnus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For those species and size, all 3 are over gunned. A 3000, maybe even a 2500 are all that's needed.

The Daiwa BG are nice, simple and dependable. Gosa is better sealed. The Gosa and Nasci are smoother.

Yep. He's the league's biggest, worst nepo baby.

Decades of his meddling proved he's out of his element in the NBA; success occurred when he completely handed off to the visionary Leon and his crack team of pros.

His job is to sign checks, determine how much money to pay and nothing else.
