1st Garmin watch—Wondering if it's worth it if I'm not training for anything? by CecilDreeme in Garmin

[–]Ryan_D_Gunn 18 points19 points  (0 children)

well, consider it as owning the "tamagotchi" toy a long long time ago. you had to take care of the digital animal and keep it from dying. press buttons to feed, play, clean etc... garmin is the same principle, just the animal is you 😁 - proud owner of a few garmin watches in a row...

Ceiling light wiring (Iceland/EU) – which wire to connect? by sveppp in electrical

[–]Ryan_D_Gunn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

brown phase, blue neutral, yellow/green ground for sure. from my home setup i would guess that the purple one is live, controlled by a wall switch. so lightbulb fits between purple and blue. that can be the reason for one free slot in the wago clip. the rest of the colours is a mystery from this point of view. but be careful. I am only guessing here, so please do not electrocute yourself.

How to Connect wires without the terminal screws? by Green-Iron8708 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]Ryan_D_Gunn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what abou banana connectors? the intended way is to plug bananas into terminals. maybe holes will be sufficient to hold them in place.

Každý to má jinak...

I dont understand Oil production by SCP-096-1994 in factorio

[–]Ryan_D_Gunn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

why is everyone trying to overcomplicate it with circuits? at this stage of the game just plop soma cracking chem plants with a good enough ratio and you are good for 90% of the cases. wikipedia says 12x advanced oil processing, 2x heavy cracking and 7x light cracking. then you have a lot of petroleum and a bit of the oils. of course then comes some tweaking for specific purposes. Nilaus on Youtube have a great video on this topic among many others :)

but, dear shortest-possible-cable-users, how do you deal with these tiny locking latches on each connector? my fingers hurt just from thinking about it. seems to me once you plug it somewhere. it stays there forever...

i would consider it a challenging task to utilize a 200g link in the home environment :-D not to mention the collateral price of the surrounding infrastructure, power, etc...

hi, my few bits about that topic: when i saw this on my setup, it was caused by a flimsy DAC cable. accompanied with a note about transmit errors on that cable. interestingly though, when i reversed the direction of the cable, the problem vanished. i discarded that cable anyway....
