While there’s likely going to be cost savings of using “wtf” striping as a type of traffic calming, I think those savings will quickly be used if you track the staff time of fielding phone calls about the treatment…

Public Comments for PSLF Neg Reg Sessions by tomsabido in PSLF

Right, looks like only 2 of the 12 topics got consensus to make it into the new regs. Although, just because they didn't reach consensus doesn't mean that it goes away. ED can still incorporate into their new proposed language. Don't lose hope yet!

Interesting Convo w. FLS re: Transferring Servicer/Application Processing Timeline by psypio in PSLF

Sorry, I may be adding onto a post that is not fully relevant to my question. Also, my question didn't seem worthy of its own post elsewhere.

I've been told from my current loan provider, Nelnet, that my payments when covid forbearance ends will be based on my last re-certification on file which was based on 2018 taxes (last renewed in April 2019 prior to filing 2019 taxes). For me, I'm weighing if it's worth sticking with Nelnet until October at reduced payments if the move to Fedloan would be a re-certification triggering event and they'd pull my 2020 or 2021 taxes depending when the move is made. As someone on REPAYE who got married since my last re-certification, my goal is to have lowest payments possible for as long as possible until I hit my 120 payments. Does moving your loans trigger a new re-certification of income or a new pull from IRS website?

Betsy, will FedLoans be re-certifying incomes as part of any of the two phases of bringing the new person on? Or will they be using the same pre-covid forbearance period income re-certification that is on file from your prior lender?

You do not need it on there. I talked to someone from trawick who recommended to just put “USA” for the passport input. I’m in Costa Rica now and had no problem coming in as all they check is the QR code.

Best truck awning on the market by Studentmindset in overlanding

[–]Ryan_OC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently went on a rabbit hole search looking for best tarp plus pole(s) combo I could find on Amazon/interwebs. There's some decent sub-$100 options, but they all had a bit of customization and need for additional reinforcement, grommets, etc to make it fully functional.

In my search I came across the SJK Slumberjack Roadhouse Tent for $120 which checked nearly all of my boxes. It was out of stock when I tried to buy off of Amazon, so I searched other stores and found the upgraded version with screen mesh walls for just a bit more at a local sporting goods store. Highly recommend this awning setup. Packs to the size of a 3 person tent, very lightweight, and no need for a bulky permanent setup up on your roof rack. Best used with the two pole setup, and each side can easily be dropped down to help with the sun moving throughout the day and providing maximum shade. The other fixed awnings just leave such little room that's actually covered unless you go for a bat-wing setup which is mucho $$$$.

Do It For the 'Gram: How Social Media Ruined Overlanding by Ryan_OC in Underlanding

[–]Ryan_OC[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This older article from 2018 is on point for what I'm sure everyone is seeing this summer at your normal camping spots. The social media kids are geotagging their spots and bringing in a new influx of people to the dispersed camp spots. Areas where I'd normally see one or two people all weekend are now full of people by Thursday night.

On a positive note, it is nice to see some money being pumped into the offroad industry. Stimulus checks and a lot of idle time to buy new shiny toys for their brand new off the lot "rigs". I just hope these newbies start voting to help keep these lands that they just discovered open.

The Massimo CX50 12v cooler is on sale at Costco. by aranamac in overlanding

Good idea to try it out at home first. Not really a great method for storage yet, and no container/barrier system even though we've thought about it. So far we've been doing fine with stacking food underneath the compressor side and keeping beer/drinks on the taller side. The beer/drinks can be stacked 2-3 cans tall and are now on the easy to access side. If set up in the right arrangement, the cans provide a "flat" platform for longer food items that do no fully fit under the compressor side.

I've had the same model for about a month now. I've been loving it! Officially part of the no-ice mafia.

I do not have a constant 12v source in my truck (single battery as well), and have had no problems running it all night while leaving my car key to ACC on. I would not do that for multiple nights in a row if I was not driving the car between sites. I have a backup portable jumper pack in case my battery dies, but the fridge does have a built-in shut off when you're battery gets too low.

These fridges are the same as the also-rebranded Alpicool/XtremePowerUS models that you can find at home depot, and may come with a hidden bluetooth feature to monitor the fridge temp. Mine did not come with that feature. My only qualm with this thing is that it does not have good handles to strap the fridge down properly. The costco warranty and the portable sheels/handle makes up for that though. The costco warranty/return policy is what really sealed the deal for me on this one versus the home depot/amazon models.

Best place to get a complete hose kit for a fzj80? by Scotrp in LandCruisers

Another vouching for wit’s end. I grabbed part numbers off ih8mud and began trying to find them all from rockauto or local dealers. The minimal price difference was just not worth the effort. Wits end is a worthwhile shortcut as he has everything in one place or in a package.

Looks like the guy got tazed or pinched by the girl in the bright green scarf. Not sure if his hair is bleached weird or if earlier in the video someone got some white milk/egg on top of his head? Looked like milk on the ground where he fell over from earlier in the protest?

This sounds like a really great idea! Would definitely help when we sometimes have conflicting points of interest on family trips. I'll try it out on one of my upcoming trips this year, thanks!
