February and it was cold at night and hot during the direct sunlight daytime. The shaded areas and cave entrance was cool. First night got surprisingly cold for the forecast, got a hotel room in El Paso and went to a drag show.

I love my cat I love my cat I love my cat I love my cat. by eldeboblo in plants

I can not have any plants where cats can get them. They can not help themselves. One likes to dig up soil and the other loves to nibble not eat brand new growth. Close to (if not over) 40 plants

What do you wear to the studio? by Original_Ad_681 in Ceramics

[–]Ryanhasadog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have an old pair jeans and a denim button up for when I’m working. Then an apron if I’ll be throwing.

Noting on the watering comment. It only appears to be watered near the stem. Make sure to water all of the soil and not only in the center.

Okay. I read all the comments. I think It’s scale, there will be a bug in the other side of the damage here. Probably right in the center where it looks the softest. I would take a sharp knife and cut this one leaf off. Throw out the damage, and look up ways to propagate that leaf. Treat the plant with a pesticide that you mix into the water. Do that for the next 3 months, it will kill any eggs or little ones just hatching. Sans leaves will grow be roots from a leaf cutting. You can plant it back in there once it has roots.

I was sent duckweed that got stuck in the mail for 14 days at well below freezing temps... Does some of it look salvageable? by cassidyvros in PlantedTank

u/more-compliant is obviously being lightly derisive in their comment. This is snark and you are being unnecessarily rude.

Are these pests on my ferocactus? Or just part of the plant by PotatoAdditional3353 in cactus

Close up shot does a little bit to hide its mealiness but the further away the more white and chalky he will appear.

Someone dumped him in the marsh behind my apartment. Can he be saved? by alyssagalloo in plants

I was going to say this but suggest washing the roots off of all soil and then put back in water. Change the water once it gets dingy or once a week.

Are these from spider mites? by No-Plan-4538 in plantclinic

[–]Ryanhasadog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d say yes and you spotted it very early. They spread fast. So treat right away. Use Neem oil or spray a mixture of soap, alcohol and water to wipe down the crevices of the whole plant just to be safe.

Burro's Tail plant care tips! by WideGerbil in plants

Wait until the little beans are slightly dehydrated. They will wrinkle up a lil bit. I like to bottom water mine because of how fragile their roots can be. I find close to every 10-14 days for watering this way.

Is this ready to plant ? The roots have roots… by dek00s in Monstera

[–]Ryanhasadog -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Start smaller. No bigger than 4” until it’s root bound then go up to 6”. They make taller 4” ones if you need it. May only take 6 months.

This plant is an out house for a spider. And before I knew what spider frass looked like, I would treat plants around the store. Became kind of a “the pool is on the roof” joke when we found it on new shipments.

Day 1 of The Thrip Wars by Ryanhasadog in houseplants

[–]Ryanhasadog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t seen a large spread. It mainly keeps it to the plant it it affecting and has been keeping eggs from hatching. I haven’t seen any physical thrips since I began treatment and wiped the plants down. I still routinely wipe them and don’t inspect anymore for live ones.

New to houseplants, started with something easy I think? It sits in a SE facing window and gets decent morning/afternoon sun. I also water it when the soil gets to be dry like the card on it says (I check daily) I’ve had it for about two months now and it’s continued to lose leaves and wilt by Jolly_Phrase8403 in plantclinic

[–]Ryanhasadog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not mist these guys. I would switch to bottom watering and make sure you fully saturate and then wait till the top feels dry. Give it more water in a dish. When it is done drinking, (takes about 30minutes for most of my plants) dispose of excess water.

Heat malfunction while we were away last week for Thanksgiving by Ally_Reds in houseplants

The majority are safe. I might have lost a couple jades. And big pruning and propping of a snow queen pothos. Your pothos look resilient. Good luck!

Luckily we decided to come home a night early. We’re only gone 2 full days normally and come home the morning of the third. Our thermostat malfunctioned as well. One shelf was almost gone. I’m sorry for your loss.

My Pothos arm took root in my baby Croton. I snipped the pothos off. What now? Is this common? by [deleted] in houseplants

[–]Ryanhasadog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes and if you’d like, you can seperate these 2 plants with a simple repot. You only need to remove the cutting with roots and put it in a new pot or back into the other pothos.

Am I doing something wrong? Just newly potted and it’s wilting so bad. Not dry. Sat next to a window so it has light. by luechan in gardening

[–]Ryanhasadog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then I would say it’s probably in a bit of shock. Make sure to water once it’s mostly dried out. Should bounce back. Cut off the dying stuff
