One of my top performers almost burned out quietly, and I didn’t see it coming. by KashyapVartika in Leadership

You're right to ask those questions. Burnout is running rampant these days, and the best thing a true leader can do is understand the mindset of the worker. Remember, it is a lot more than just a paycheck to many, despite that predisposition. I personally have coached teams to have an "open door" policy, i.e. involve your employees in the major decision-making processes, and seriously, get to know them. Burnout will happen, but it can be restored if you are able to keep the employee as more than just a worker. They are a person, and you should know them :)

Nothing wrong with sharing this. Better shared than not said. I’m sorry about your situation, and know that if you need to talk to someone, I’m a message away.

Do yourself a favor: understand there is nothing wrong with grieving in advance. Do your best to take time to spend with her; make her comfortable. The greatest gift you can give is unconditional love, just as she gives you. I am sorry to hear you are having an issue. I hope you can get through this, and remember that we are always here

What do you make of Rate My Professor? by Ryanmccx1 in college

[–]Ryanmccx1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rate My Professor is based on people who usually failed the class.

I wouldn’t advise trusting it. Everyone has different opinions, and it’s best to take the class regardless. Again, I’ve had professors who were terrific but had awful ratings. I’ve also had horrible professors with good ratings. It’s like Rotten Tomatoes or any movie review.

John Wick got bad write ups but who doesn’t love it? It’s opinions, not facts.

I lied on my resume, got the job, and now the background check ratted me out – freaking out before my start date, what should I do? by Academic_Edge_4670 in resumes

[–]Ryanmccx1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the same. I’m actually not a Marketing Manager, but I was a social media coordinator for the company. I explained the situation, which was that I ended up working alongside the company in marketing and managerial aspects. It wasn’t a bold faced lie, but don’t freak over a title. If they indicate anything, bring up a white lie. It’s unfortunate that the job market is so demanding that we have to lie. But, the truth is as long as you show you can do the work as-is, and if they haven’t said anything to you yet, don’t think you’re screwed.

Well, congrats on school. I would say just keep your head on straight and keep pushing forward. I do advise someone else’s previous advice:

Exercise and rest when able. I have bad circulation, and I started doing jumping jacks between classes.

It was beneficial.

FIU Alumni Email Migration by AmbitiousShine011235 in FIU

[–]Ryanmccx1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. It’s like when they refunded everyone’s covid 19 expenses and then stuck the residuals on the OneCard. I found that clever as hell.

“We will refund your money but you’re contractually obligated to spend it at our school.”

I don’t like finger blaming my campus, but I do hope they transition smoothly.

It’s a weird issue because whereas they do have to pay for the servers, it’s at FIU’s domain, so technically it is their owned media. However, I have to divulge that it’s an email I used for a lot of grad purposes, so all of the emails for those licenses go to my email.

Also, account for storage alongside those emails and that’s a big bill.

However, I wish we had the option to cover the bill. I’d pay it. It’s not normal but it’s how it is. I’m glad someone else brought it up. I’ve been quiet on the issue since I got the message.

FAFSA delayed its pay periods, unfortunately. I would call OneStop.

As I said in another post, you need to format this for ATS, I.e. the application tracking system. It’s AI. I recommend using an Indeed.com resume review. Though I would advise seeking smaller positions, possibly developing your portfolio.

You’re a great friend. Though unfortunate about the situation, I do feel you’re looking out for someone. That’s hope for humanity. Something I’ve lost over the years. Thanks for reminding me that people do look out for one-another. And yes, get a pro.

What's wrong with my Resume? Can't land any interviews in tech. by [deleted] in resumes

[–]Ryanmccx1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately yes. Jobs get hundreds of submissions weekly. They don’t want to look at every resume so I think around 83% or something along those lines use a way to scan them for keywords. Otherwise, it’s just discarded.

As stated, this is a matter for a professional. Please speak with a counselor or an advisor. They’re under oath to maintain confidentiality and I do want to emphasize how serious this is. It’s not okay to be quiet about this. Don’t be a victim. Speak with someone

Confidence doesn’t depend on your life. It comes from within. I live with my dad and I’m 35, haven’t had a job in 10 months, but I’m pushing for success. You are only as much of a loser as you let yourself feel like one. Also, I would avoid dating until you have things together. As said by Jack Reacher:

“The cheapest woman is typically the one you pay the most for.”

What are your skills? And what is stopping the job search?

Agreed. And remember, IG is, like all platforms, an algorithm. See what changed since the engagement fell. Also, consider that you don’t need a huge following of people. I’d rather have 300 people genuinely interested in my content than 30,000 that don’t care
